Someone help? Stressed about Ectopic/PUL

Hey ladies.

I'm looking for someone who's going/gone through what I'm going through right now.

I was approx 8 weeks pregnant when I started experiencing abdominal pain. It wasn't severe but enough for me to notice. I booked a private scan however the sonographer couldn't locate my pregnancy through a TVS and advised I go to A&E to hopefully rule out ectopic pregnancy.

At A&E they conducted various tests which all came back fine however my HCG levels were very low (129). They called me back in the next day for another 3 TVS with different clinicians. None of them could find my little bean sad. They said it's a PUL with likelihood of ectopic.

They have put me on expectant management. My HCG levels have been dropping (72) then to (46) 48 hours later.

I haven't had any severe abdominal pain, spotting or bleeding or any shoulder tip pain.

It's hard not to worry, for my health & my pregnancy. I've learnt to accept that the outcome for my pregnancy isn't positive due to dropping HCG but the wait inbetween appointments and uncertainty is killing me sad. If anyone has been through this could you please share your experience.

It would be much appreciated.

Thankyou xx

I'm quite anxious about trying now given what's happened before but I took my last pill today and will just see what happens. Hope all goes well for you RedWine Smile

Thankyou, hopefully this is our week! @MrsMoose0

@Kate288 Thankyou, it’s been a crazy week, i was hospitalised but I’ve been discharged. Luckily I managed to avoid surgery. I hope my HCG levels will drop to 0 pretty soon. Last time checked they were 11 xx

Hi everyone, I had an ectopic pregnancy in October last year, it took ages for my levels to drop but they did eventually (I had expectant management). I’ve just found out today that I pregnant again so there is hope (although I’m having pains in the same place so as you can imagine I am stressed out all over again now!). Good luck to all x

Georgina14 · 18/01/2018 07:21

@Marriageoftrueminds Awww I hope it all goes well! Have an early scan to put your mind at ease, it’s natural to worry after such a draining experience. Good to know the ectopic pregnancy ended well for you, without medication or treatment. I really hope the same happens for me xx

Hey guys,

I am feeling very deflated.. when does this end. It’s so emotionally, mentally and physically draining. It’s been nearly two months of back and fourth to the hospital. I can’t stop worrying or stressing.

As I’ve been stressing a lot plus my body is trying to solve this itself without any medication or surgery, my immune system has been really compromised. I now have a flu virus/bug. It’s just soo much going on. I just want it to be over.

Sorry for moaning but I just needed someone/somewhere to vent to. xx

OP sorry to hear your now not well with flu/virus. Sod's law so they would say. One thing after another. Have you had the all clear now? Managing it on you own/body doing its natural thing? Unfortunately the worry doesn't stop until you have a successful pregnancy I don't think. Because of my past losses every time I have been pregnant/found out it's just been full of dread & worry form day 1. I do try to think positive but it's incredibly hard considering my past. People say to think positive, it will happen etc, all well and good coming from someone who has had no problems or let downs in pregnancy. I think it's natural to worry until we get a successful one, and that for me would be once it's out and born! I do think I would relax a little once I had my 12 week scan tho. As for me it's all gone wrong before reaching that stage.
You can try again ASAP but it's recommended to wait 3 months. How are you feeling today?

RedWineAllMine · 23/01/2018 14:32

My DP is away on business, so we won't catch my ovulation until May now...so I best start stocking up on the folic acids & preparing myself! As I didn't take that before pregnancy, only when I found out I was pregnant. But I've heard it can make a huge difference if you take it before trying again/whilst trying as it's good to get it in your system.

Hi Georgina, just wanted to offer my sympathies and say, hang in there! I remember so well the awful monotony of all the scans, bloods, worry, and constantly having to be off work for all that to happen, it is awful but it WILL pass. I felt very very depressed after mine in December (especially since I went for a Christmas weekend with my uni friends and four of them had babies!) but I began to feel better fairly quickly. Just to warn you, my first period after my ectopic (which was a month after my levels finally reached zero), I had the exact same pains again - I knew I couldn’t be pregnant so I got scanned AGAIN and they found nothing!

Oh and I also got flu after the ectopic, my GP said it’s almost inevitable to get ill after so much physical and emotional trauma x

Georgina14 · 26/01/2018 01:01

@RedWineAllMine Thankyou, hopefully I will get the all clear on Monday! HCG’s have dropped and the pain has basically gone. My flu is also clearing. I understand your frustration, it makes you scared to celebrate something you should be so excited about because you don’t know the outcome. All I can say is don’t loose your hope! I know it’s hard to keep a cheerful spirtit when things like this happen but with Hope anything is possible. Hopefully may is your month! X

@Marriageoftrueminds Thankyou for your kind words. I really can’t wait for this to be over. DH has booked us a little holiday to try and lift my spirits up so I’m looking forward to that. Oh gosh I am not looking forward to a painful period, but thanks for the heads up.
My GP said the exact same thing. Stress weakens the efficiency of the immune system. I had a flu through New Years fought it off and now it’s back. I cant wait for my body to get back to normal. X

Thank you OP! Yes here's to hoping, for many of us that this is our year! Just checking in, how are you feeling today? X

RedWineAllMine · 27/01/2018 08:20

I should mention I've been to GP and had basic checks done, bloods, internal/external scan, and they said everything looked normal. But if it happens again I'm going back to push for further testing, because there are things that can be done for us, eg - baby aspirin, injections, they can put a stitch in ya cervix to try keep it in, can test fallopian tubes for blockages etc. So I'm ready for them if it happens again. Some people just need a little medical assistance to help them on there way.

Georgina14 · 31/01/2018 08:18

Thanks God, Luckily numbers have dropped to -1 without any intervention (no mtx or surgery), so I’ve been discharged. I have a scan in 6/8 weeks to make sure everything is okay. What an experience for my first pregnancy ey! Now I’m just waiting for AF. Thanks ladies for helping me through this journey! Much appreciated xx

@Georgina14 I'm so glad your levels are down now. You've certainly been through a tough time! Enjoy your break with your DH. X
