Uterine AVM after surgical management of miscarriage

I have been diagnosed with a uterine AVM, following an MVA (which I think is the same as ERPC, but under a local anaesthetic) after my missed miscarriage at 10 weeks (I had a miscarriage previously at 6 weeks, this pregnancy followed straight on, I had no period in between).

I had the procedure 7 weeks ago and had been having bleeding and positive pregnancy tests since. The hospital initially thought it may have been retained product (hate, hate, hate that term!), but there was quite a lot of blood flow to the mass in my uterus, so an AVM was queried. I had a negative hpt today, and another scan, unfortunately the mass had not decreased and still has quite a big blood flow - hence finally being diagnosed with AVM.

Sorry for the essay, I would just be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this. I can't find much info about it. I just want to try and move on from my miscarriages, but finding it so difficult after continuos trips back to EPAU, even though I haven't actually been pregnant for 7 weeks.

Thanks in advance for any replies

I'm ok thanks! Won't know anything until 1st Nov! Still bleeding but only a little bit each day, so the norethisterone is obviously doing something as last time I had the pessaries it was much worse with proper heavy bleeds. It's giving me spots though grr! Hope your ultrasound brings good news let me know how you get on! Xx

Glad your symptoms are improving. Fingers crossed we all get some good news at our follow-ups.

justcurious40 · 11/10/2017 18:51

Sorry you have had some difficult dates to get past, ladies. Would be lovely to be cleared of the AVM worry so we can properly put it all behind us. x

Angelbabiesimissyou · 11/10/2017 19:04

Most definitely. Im waiting on MRI results and im hoping its good news. X

Angelbabiesimissyou · 12/10/2017 09:21

I had a scan yesterday and it was good news. The area is about half the size that it was 2 weeks ago but, more importantly, it no longer has the vascularity. Last time the whole area lit up like a rainbow! But this time there was just a tiny spot on one edge so it was barely there. I am going back for a rescan in 4 weeks. Still spotting red blood each day - are you both still spotting too?

Angelbabiesimissyou · 13/10/2017 09:01

Thats brillant news, hopefully on your rescan in 4 weeks everything will be resolved. Like you my 1st scan was quite large and vascularity including arteries & vessels/veins, i then had a rescan which had shown the area is smaller but still presenting vascularity i haven't had an US since but have had MRI but waiting on results, i have my fingers crossed its resolved itself. Yes hun i am still spotting unfortunately. Xx

LauLauH · 13/10/2017 18:00

Yay justcurious so pleased for you! Hopefully in 4 weeks you'll get the all clear. Sounds promising! I am still spotting too. Not enough for a pad but having to use a liner every day. (SO bored of it!) xx

Angelbabiesimissyou · 13/10/2017 18:16

I know how you feel about being bored of it...x

justcurious40 · 13/10/2017 22:01

Have just sent you both a PM. x

Angelbabiesimissyou · 14/10/2017 06:41

Thank you honey for your PM x

justcurious40 · 15/10/2017 19:17

Ladies, can I ask do you sometimes get a gush of blood coming? Most of the time now I am only lightly spotting, but sometimes I get a lot more coming all at once, especially first thing in the morning.

Angelbabiesimissyou · 15/10/2017 19:34

I experience the same hun i am continously bleeding which is either spotting or gushing. Xx

justcurious40 · 15/10/2017 19:56

Thanks, Angelbabies. I am suspicious that this is being caused by the norethisterone Looks like lots of people have constant bleeding when on the mini pill. Am tempted to stop taking it!

LauLauH · 15/10/2017 20:09

Mines just light all day. There's a point mid morning where I think a bit more comes out (like a teaspoon size) as I notice it on the liner but no big gushes like with my previous Mc. Maybe if more is coming out in the morning it could be down to gravity? X

Angelbabiesimissyou · 15/10/2017 20:12

Mine isnt just morning, mine seems to be after walking up stairs, carrying anything or after bowel movement x

justcurious40 · 15/10/2017 20:22

Hmm. Isn't this annoying!? Really, really tempted to stop the norethisterone. Might try to get in touch with the doc and see how he reacts to that!

Angelbabiesimissyou · 15/10/2017 20:34

I came of it because i still bled daily and hemorrhaged with it anyway. X

justcurious40 · 16/10/2017 20:22

What did your doc think of you coming off it?

Angelbabiesimissyou · 16/10/2017 20:37

They were fine for me to be off it as i take other medications but i have it incase i need to start again, but it doesnt do me any justice hence why ive still bled for 8 weeks and hemorrhaged with it anyways. Still don't know MRI results the consultant knows the results but we are waiting for the secretary to write up the results on the system. My bereavement midwife is going to chase them tomorrow. X

justcurious40 · 16/10/2017 21:52

Oh, I really really hope that you will get some good news tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. x

justcurious40 · 18/10/2017 20:59

Any news, Angelbabies? x
