I thought I would start this thread as a place where anyone who is going this or has gone through this in the past could share experiences, vent about life, etc.

After a MMC at 12 weeks and an ERPC a few weeks ago I've just found out the cause was a partial mole. I've been referred to Charing Cross and am waiting to hear back from them to start the monitoring etc.

I know the chances of cancer developing are about 1/100 but I'm still struggling with the 'OMG I'm going to die' feeling at the moment, plus the grief and stress of the miscarriage itself.

I haven't told anyone in RL, other than dh, even friends who know about the miscarriage. I'm worried abut how they'll react and that I'll end up blubbing.

Sorry you're not feeling great suzy. It is difficult to think about the what ifs etc, for anyone who goes through a pregnancy loss. A close friend of mine was pregnant at the same time as I was with my molar pregnancy, we were due within two weeks of each other and it made me very sad that the experience we thought we were going to share was not to be. Don't feel bad about feeling sad, it is completely understandable, as you say you are sad for you even though you are pleased for her.

Really hoping for a big drop for you when you get your results.

Thank you everyone, it's hard to stay positive. The constant worry is horrendous, I am terrified of needing treatment and not being able to do anything to help is really getting to me. To top it off, I seem to have come down with some kind of virus today and am feeling awful! Not surprising when I haven't slept properly for weeks.
Suzy, sorry you're having a tough time, like Gwen I also have a friend who is pregnant and I had been looking forward to sharing that journey with her. Any future pregnancies won't be the same after this. Will keep my fingers crossed that your results show a big drop this week.

Lou1791 · 10/03/2016 11:57

Has anyone had counselling following their molar pregnancy? Either from specialist (like the lady at CXH) or an independent counsellor. Just wondering as my DH keeps suggesting it.

suzyhart7 · 10/03/2016 13:45

Lou, I know that Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, which is the Scottish centre for treatment, offers free counselling. I went to an open day there and we had a group session with the counsellor who was lovely. I'm sure it would be similar at CXH. I would say go for it if it's on offer - I think things like that can only do good.

I know it's so hard worrying about needing treatment as it's totally out of our hands. I wish there was something you could do to proactively lower hormone levels! Like drink more water or something! If only it was that easy!!

Thanks for the words of support Gwen and Lou. Feeling a lot better today - think I was subconsciously stressing about my results when I wrote that last post - it's so nerve wracking having to wait for results after sending off the tests isn't it! I got my results back and my hormone levels have dropped from 1835 to 540 over the past 2 weeks so really pleased with that although know I've still got a long way to go. 8 week mark since my D&C was on Tuesday so defo in the longer follow up category.

Lou1791 · 10/03/2016 14:45

Good news, so pleased! I also missed the 8 week mark this week. Just have to keep ticking off the weeks.

suzyhart7 · 18/03/2016 09:17

Happy Friday everyone! How are you feeling Lou? Have you had anymore results? I have my next blood test on Monday.

Lou1791 · 19/03/2016 09:36

Happy Weekend!
Hi Suzy, Should have got results yesterday but they didn't have them yet so I have to wait until Monday... was quite upset! Fingers crossed for your next.

suzyhart7 · 20/03/2016 20:02

That's so annoying that your results weren't ready Lou! Hope you get a good drop tomorrow. Xx

Lou1791 · 21/03/2016 19:25

Dropped to 87. Always hoping for more but that will do for now.
Anyone else thinking this is a complete nightmare?
Suzy how long does it take to get your results? Where do you get bloods taken?

suzyhart7 · 21/03/2016 21:57

That's great Lou! You're into double digits! It is frustrating how long the whole thing takes isn't it? I'm just trying to think about the next test of the next results without thinking about the bigger picture too much as was driving myself crazy thinking about how long it will be until I'm no longer being monitored and how long it will be until I could potentially be pregnant etc...I have a blood test today, get it at my local GPs and then post it off to Ninewells in Dundee. I should hopefully hear back Wednesday afternoon or Thursday. What about you? Do you send them to Charring Cross? Xx

Lou1791 · 22/03/2016 06:19

Do you post it or do they?
I'm just trying to work out why mine takes so long. It gets taken at my GP, has to be sent to local hospital to be separated for the serum and then sent on to CXH. So last week it was taken on Tues and they still didn't have my results on Friday afternoon. I rang and Monday lunchtime and was still told to wait until after 3pm.

suzyhart7 · 22/03/2016 12:30

That's strange, seems like a long drawn out process. I post mine myself. Ninewells sends me the test tubes and a stamped, self addressed envelope and I just put the samples in there and post back. Last time was really quick - test on Monday, results on Wednesday afternoon, but the first time took a day longer. Xx

Lou1791 · 24/03/2016 19:22

That sounds much simpler. Did you get results yet? Hope it was positive:

suzyhart7 · 25/03/2016 11:03

Hi! Yeah got results yesterday, another drop - down from 540 to 248 so pleased it's come down a bit, although still feels like a way to go especially as it's now 14 weeks since the op. How's things with you? X

Lou1791 · 25/03/2016 17:27

That's great! Next bloods on Tues.. It comes round so quickly! At least things are moving in the right direction, just have to play the waiting game.

suzyhart7 · 25/03/2016 21:04

Thanks Lou! Good luck with your next tests. Just realised its only been 10 weeks not 14!! Can't count! Xx

suzyhart7 · 31/03/2016 09:56

Hi, quick question - does anyone have experience of trying to get travel insurance before they were down to zero? We're going to Lisbon at the end of April and I had hoped I'd be at zero by then, but it probably won't happen seeing as my last results were 248. Not sure if it'll affect the travel insurance or not? I've heard it will?? Xx

Lou1791 · 04/04/2016 17:46

Sorry, no experience of this. Have you got an answer now?

suzyhart7 · 04/04/2016 20:06

Nope! But more tests tomorrow and results on Thursday/Friday, so just have to hope for another drop! Think I'll ask Ninewells about it when I call for my results. How are you getting on Lou? Xx

Lou1791 · 04/04/2016 20:33

Yes, hopefully they will know. All good - last week's result was 29! Feels so close... yet so far.

suzyhart7 · 05/04/2016 20:25

That's great Lou! 29 is so low. Hopefully you'll be within the 'normal' range next time! Xx

Lou1791 · 08/04/2016 18:48

Fingers crossed!
Hope you had positive results Suzy.

Anyone any experience with when periods might start up again? I've had nothing at all since January and starting to feel a little worried...

suzyhart7 · 08/04/2016 22:30

Thanks Lou! Got confusing results today, I forgot to collect my morning pee for the urine test (tmi I know!) so got a really low reading - 36, down from 248 on the last test. But my bloods were at 287, down from 388 last time. Soo a drop but not entirely sure by how much! Guess I'll just need to wait another 2 weeks to find out...I thought your periods would start once you get into the 'normal' range? I've not had a period since October - almost forgotten what they're like!!

Lou1791 · 09/04/2016 17:28

That's still a good drop on the bloods. I've never been told the urine results, only blood... Maybe I should ask!

I haven't either, only the bleeding around ERPC in Jan. Glad it's not just me. I thought I'd read some people had some while hCG levels still higher so I was worried. Hopefully they'll start soon (never said that before!)

Frecklesfrodo123 · 13/04/2016 19:06

Hi ladies, I'm hoping for a little advice..
I had a molar pregnancy removed 4 weeks ago, before the ERPC my hcg levels were just over a million, a week later they were 63000, week after that they were 1333, I sent my first sample off o Sheffield last week, I have recieved a letter today stating that my levels have elevated and I will be having weekly tests now, they said my urine was 1.57 - I'm not sure what this means in actual numbers as all my other tests had been blood and in proper numbers.

If anyone has any advice/ knows how to convert it ( if that is even possible )
Xx
