well it seems that my hcg lvls havent decreased at all and tbh i think the hospital have got it wrong...... on sunday i went into the hospital and my hcg lvls were 679 and a cb digi said i was 1-2 weeks i went in on tuesday and apparently my hcg lvls were 379 so they thought i was having a early mc.......i took a cb digi last night and this morning with my morning wee and they both have said im 2-3 weeks now if my hcg were lower than sunday then surely the pregnancy test would show 1-2 weeks or more than likely not pregnant......some women i have spoken to say they lose their symptoms straight away after a mc and that they just feel empty and i havent felt any of this and have told the hospital over and over and also my parents that i dont feel any different i still feel pregnant and have done since tuesday when the hospital told me i had a mc............so im pretty damn sure im still pregnant and it shows how intune i am with my body.......im sorry im rambling on but my head is just all over the place....

TBH the symptoms are a bit of a red herring, so is the bleeding thing. I've had 5 pgs, lost 3, had an ectopic, had bleeding with all (including the last one, which was successful).

Only thing to do is wait and see. It is so hard.I'm sorry Sad

daretodream · 15/01/2011 21:56

x posts with lissie. Sorry to repeat

jaylee89 · 15/01/2011 21:59

yes i see wat u are sayin but im saying....my hcg lvls were 679 on sunday and i took a clear blue test and it said i was 1-2 weeks....now surely if they had dropped so much why are 2 clear blues telling me im 2-3 weeks.....the docs told me i would lose everything within 3-4 days as i was so early but i havent had any fresh blood any clots any pain and they said if i took a test it would show up negative withing 3-4 days my breasts are still very very sore i still have morning sickness and i dont feel like ive mc.......nothing.....i had surgery for ruptured cysts.....im going to the doctors because im 99% sure my pregnancy is still ongoing from teh stories ive heard from this hospital from other with hcg lvls and then finding out they are still pregnant makes me think something isnt right in that hospital......its st micheals in bristol....

I agree with every post abut dropped hcg levels Sad

I have had 3 missed mc's that were only discovered at the 12 weeks scans but I was also told during one horrid night of heavy bleeding that I was having a mc & arrangements for a dnc were made.
Whislt waiting to go to surgery I was in a lot of pain & a doctor used a portable scan to check for another ep & found my dd's heartbeat (she is now 6)

I would ring your early preg centre at the hospital & arrange to see someone there.

PacificDogwood · 15/01/2011 22:00

Here is some info on HCG levels

See if you cannot get scanned at some point.
Look after yourself.

daretodream · 15/01/2011 22:04

Preg tests can keep showing up positive for 3-4 weeks after mc.

I can see why you are still hopeful, but the clearblue tests are not so accurate as blood tests as the urine they test varies from day to day; for eg the concentration of your urine will vary depending on what you have eaten and drunk the day before, They are not as reliable as a blood test.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/01/2011 22:05

because clearblues arent diagnostic. it depends on the strength of your urine, on the time of day, on all manner of things. you DO need to be scanned again though, and you need more blood tests. the symptoms mean nothing at all and even a very early mc can take months to sort itself out. one of my mn friends started to mc in early dec and it took until after christmas for levels to drop sufficiently. my last mc was 7m ago and my cycle is still up the swannee. the body is a funny thing. what is happening monday? another scan?

wannaBe · 15/01/2011 22:06

you need to bin the pregnancy tests. They are not reliable, regardless of what the packaging tells you. They are designed to suck people in and to make you buy more of them (at 12 quid a throw Shock). Again there are plenty of women on here whose hcg levels took a signifficant time to drop after a mc.

At this stage of your pregnancy a heartbeat should be able to be detected, so what you need to do is to get a scan to see if there actually is a viable pregnancy.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/01/2011 22:10

totally, totally agree with wannabe

jaylee89 · 15/01/2011 22:12

i just find it strange that if my hcg lvls had dropped so rapidly then why is the clear blue showing me wat my hcg lvls should have been if i hadnt mc........i dunno my body is just telling me im still pregnant....i havent had any bleeding or cramps or clots so wat is my body doing?.......im going to go for a scan on monday i need to just to put my mind at rest.... xxx

best of luck for monday xx

LadyBiscuit · 15/01/2011 22:14

Definitely go for a scan but your levels can stay pretty much the same as other people have said. I lost my baby at 8 weeks and didn't miscarry until 13.

So sorry you're going through this and hope Monday brings a miracle

AtYourCervix · 15/01/2011 22:15

dito Lissie and wannabe.

what's happening on monday? more blood test? or a scan?

jaylee89 · 15/01/2011 22:16

i really hope it does to ive spoken to 3 women now who have gone thru the same as me in exactly the same hospital something has to be wrong ??

jaylee89 · 15/01/2011 22:17

and they are all carrying a healthy baby now....i have only found this out from speaking about my feeling to friends and family.....maybe im not going crazy and that the hospital have got it wrong.....maybe just maybe....xx

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 15/01/2011 22:18

the other women should complain. I really hope that monday brings a miracle. can you go to a different hospital?

jaylee89 · 15/01/2011 22:20

yes i can go to southmead but its so far away.....tbh i wouldn care if i had to travel 50000 miles i need to put my mind at rest......ill will let you know how monday goes thank you for all your posts xxx

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 15/01/2011 22:22

the problem is (and I am trying to put this as delicately as possible) what happened to those women is purely anecdotal. HCG levels can vary quite a bit I hope you get your miracle though x

OracleInaCoracle · 16/01/2011 00:09

is someone going with you on monday?

Lougle · 16/01/2011 00:40

Did you drink lots before your second blood test? That can dilute the sample enough to cause a drop in hCg.

My friend had a blood test and was told she wasn't pregnant at all, following a +ve POAS. She asked about having had a drink, and was told it wasn't possible to make a difference.

Anyhow, they repeated the sample at her request, and saw that she was pregnant.

I think at this stage it doesn't make any difference, tbh. If you are going to miscarry, it will happen Sad. If it doesn't happen, they will have to rescan you to see if a D&C is necessary. If they rescan you and find a baby, that will be wonderful. If not, you will have your answer Sad

WickedWitchSouthWest · 16/01/2011 01:42

I'm so sorry you're going through this :(

if you really dont trust St Micks, why not get your care transferred southmead instead? Or if you're out of Bristol, there's an epu at Weston general too iirc.

Take care, hope Monday brings you your miracle x

sunshine76 · 16/01/2011 01:54

Just to share some information from my miscarriage (at 11weeks), I had my hgc taken at the hospital and the level was approx 5400, my dr said this would be right for a five or six week pregnancy (by this point I had all ready miscarried).

I know it is tough but you might need to listen to what your dr's are telling you and prepare yourself, the false hope can be torture.

hairyfairylights · 16/01/2011 10:13

If at six weeks your hcg is dropping by half it's very very unlikely to be a viable pregnancy.

I am so sorry.

It may be a missed miscarriage. It may not be thriving properly. It may be non tubal ectopic. Wait and see how your next hcg levels are if not doubling every 24 hours you are facing a non viable pregnancy.

hairyfairylights · 16/01/2011 10:17

The digi preg test will be picking upmthe small
amount of hcg that is in your body. Blood tests are
a much clearer indicator.
