Vulval dryness need suggestions for vulval lubricants NOT oestrogen cream

Hi, as title really. I already use oestrogen cream intra vaginally and vulvally but can’t use it often enough to combat the dryness as I am very sensitive to the ingredients. I’m after a good product which will help lubricate my vulva but it needs to be super gentle on my poor long suffering fanny!
I am also on HRT
TIA

The best one I found was Replens, I tried Yes first but it did not suit.

oustedbymymate · 22/09/2026 20:03

Where as I would say yes lubricant and yes moisturiser have both been great for me. The moisturiser in the day and night if needed and the lubricant for sex.

MummyOre · 22/09/2026 20:05

I can't tolerate any estrogen creams, Vagifem or IntraRosa. Yes products make me incredibly sore too. I ended up using Hydromol.

I use an Estring for estrogen.

TheSunBeatsDown · 22/09/2026 20:10

I was recommended organic coconut oil on here, very cheap and use it once a day after shower or washing. Can't believe how much difference it has made. Don't like any ones with added fragrances or extra ingredients and I don't need estrogen, just moisture.

Truetoself · 22/09/2026 20:10

Try coconut oil

iloveanearlynight · 22/09/2026 20:11

Yes Vaginal Moisturiser is quite good. I get it free on prescription too.

Tiptopflipflop · 22/09/2026 20:13

Have you tried an Estring? Hopefully you won't be sensitive to that as it just releases oestrogen without any of the extra ingredients from creams.

ThreeMogsAndCounting · 22/09/2026 20:14

Another one saying to try organic coconut oil. Just the stuff from the supermarket. It's brilliant.

peramo · 22/09/2026 20:18

I use E45 bath oil. Just for smearing down there and it is great for me. I never got on with any other cream either estrogen or Yes or anything, but this one works for me. I have decanted it from the big bottle into smaller little bottles that I keep in the loo and handbag and apply it liberally after every single wee, front and back IYSWIM.

But what works for me might not work for you, it's just a suggestion. It was actually a good friend going through similar who suggested it to me!

I reckon coconut oil would do the same thing, and I'm going to try that to see if it works for me. It might be easier to get as the E45 oil is occasionally out of stock.

TheSunBeatsDown · 22/09/2026 20:48

The only thing with organic coconut oil is it does set at colder temps and so you kind of have to scrape the oil and apply it that way. I have always struggled with fragranced products and finding washes, so I was surprised to find this so non-irritating. I use one off Amazon.

I’ve found Boots Menopause and Me vaginal moisturising pessaries really effective.

That's interesting. I'm cautiously trying Estriol cream after having an allergic reaction to Blissel.

How frequently are you able to use it? Were you unable to do the loading dose?

I've used Yes VM in the past.

ringoutsolsticebells · 23/09/2026 10:12

@FergoMcFergFacei completed loading doses years ago with vagifem. If I use it vulvally more than twice a week it just makes me really sore. Everything seems to make me really sore. The dryness is unbearable!

Thanks to you all. I’m going to try coconut oil first I think

Epaderm for washing and applying externally. It is a really gentle product. Never use soap or shower gel there and be careful what you wash your knickers in. Also be careful of panti liners and toilet roll. Everything seems to be scented these days.
You need a different product for internal moisturising. Multigyn gel is quite good for everyday use.

Snowie99 · 23/09/2026 10:24

Victory oil

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 23/09/2026 10:26

I use Gina pessaries internally and Ovesse externally (I know you said you didn't want estrogen cream but this is honestly all that works for me). Sometimes I've been known to shove Sudocrem on my bits before I go horseriding or cycling too.

I knew about vaginal atrophy and thought I'd got it sorted with the Gina, I didn't expect my vulva to join in the game!

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 23/09/2026 10:27

Seconding suggestions for YES Vaginal Moisturiser. It’s amazing especially if you get an applicator to apply it. I had a lot of discomfort and dryness from a medication and it was a god send, a friend recommended it to me. It’s water based. Even if it feels just like Vulval dryness I found it improved things to use it internally too

whatsnewbuttercup · 23/09/2026 10:28

Louise Newson recommends Cetraben cream for cleansing: this helps to relieve any dryness caused by washing with other products.
It’s also regularly recommended by NHS clinics involved in vulval care.

CremeDeMure · 23/09/2026 10:30

I found Replens turned into odd gritty little lumps which my fanny was then spitting out for days after every time I used it!

Oh no. I use Hydromol but just saw your post saying you're sensitive to that too. 😔 I've read good things about coconut oil too.

It's so hard, trying anything out down there when you're sensitive, isn't it? I've been using Estriol for a week and the itch has set in but I don't know how much this is normal healing that will pass if I persevere, or how much is my sensitive vulva rejecting it!

minmooch · 23/09/2026 12:06

another vote for Organic Coconut Oil - one from supermarket.

Jerrybalanitis · 23/09/2026 12:30

I have tried them all. I least like Vagisil and Dr Wolff although they are useful when itchy or sore. Day to day I just use a basic water based gel, Yes is my favourite. I find it lasts longer and deals with the dryness rather than sits on the surface
