They say you'll enter menopause at a similar age to your mother.

Was this true for you?

My mother was only 45.

My mother was going through it early 50s, then after flooding a few times they did a D&C and found evidence of cancer so she had a hysterectomy so that was that. I went through is around 53/4? All that happened to me was my periods got irregular and lighter and eventually stopped at age 56. No other symptoms. So I guess it was similar age if not exact.

The stats on mother/daughter menopause age are based on averages.

Most women (millions of women) tend to reach menopause round about the same time as their mothers. A year or two either side is irrelevant.
And there always will be exceptions.

It's more of an issue with POI (premature ovarian failure) or early menopause when women need to be aware of possible hereditary factors.

Across the world, the average age is around 50 and evidently has been for thousands of years (although women's life expectancy was far lower.) And there is a difference between developed countries and others as diet/ nutrition evidently has an impact.

Me, my Mum and my Gran were all aged 50-53ish.

A hysterectomy even when ovaries are kept can speed up the menopause. The ovaries tend to fail within 2 years of a hysterectomy. No one seems to know why but it's what the stats show.

My mum was 51 or 52. Quite a heave smoker.

Im 48 and still going with a regular 28 day cycle. Had one 14 say cycle not long ago, only glimmer of hope.

I only have one ovary (removed when very young) and live in hope Ill stop in the next couple of years. Always suffered with my periods, the end cant come quick enough for me.
