Over 50 and still in Perimenopause?

I am 54 years old and still menstruating every month. Should this be a concern?
Are there any ladies here who are still having periods over the age of 50?

Yep, me. I'm 53. Not totally regular, but almost. I don't think it's that unusual tbh.

I was still having periods at 55. They only stopped because I had a mirena coil fitted. Hopefully they will really have stopped by the time it gets taken out!

51 is the average age, which means there's a broad range either side of that.

I’m 56 and I’ve now gone 12 months without a period. Up until a year ago I was still having them - not every month in the end but for most of my 50s they were regular.

I’m 51 and still going strong. Turns out my sister and my mom didn’t stop until they were 60. I guess someone has to be at the far end of the curve …

I started hrt at 55. I was still having periods. I assume I wouldn't now at 59 but have regular bleed due to sequential hrt.

I'm 54 and until last year I was 2 weeks on 2 weeks off for about 5 yrs. I've come out the other end and have not had a period since last August so coming up a year. Other symptoms like anxiety/brain fog have gone and I sleep well again with no hot flushes. I have my fingers crossed this it and I'm done!

Yeah, slightly younger but over 50 & still as regular as clockwork.

Mum & older sister both had hysterectomies before 50 so I have no rough guide to go on.

I'd just turned 57 when I had my last period. It was about 2 years ago now as I am 59 in August.

52 here and day 80 since last period, longest I’ve been without is 102 days. I sincerely hope I’m done with them but I cried early when I had 2021 holiday memories come up in my phone - 4 years on and my youngest is final year GCSEs. Feelingvery nostalgic and my bra hurt today so I’m expecting Aunt Flo to pop and say hello Deary

I’m 54 and still having periods. I started sequential HRT age 51 and now on continuous HRT but still bleeding albeit lightly every couple of weeks. I keep hoping it will all stop, even considering stopping HRT to see if that works. So sick of periods!

53 here and my periods run like clockwork. It’s a bit tedious now. I have the same one- sided conversation with my period every time: “The factory shut ages ago, we don’t make babies here anymore, this town’s coming like a ghost town, bands don’t play no more, and yet you’re still clocking in every month like you own the place?” Both my period and I have lost our sense of direction!

According to some websites, menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, but late menopause is rarely mentioned.

I think so! But I haven’t had a period in 9 weeks so I may have had my last one without knowing yet 🤞. I’m 52 and my periods have been erratic for about 2 years.

I have no idea what the flip "perimenopause" is supposed to.mean, but I had regular periods from the age of 48 right up.to 56.

I had gaps of 9 MONTHS three times before finally stopping....

Not unusual, mine were regular until I was about 51 and a half, and then I started getting them every 3 months. I am 53 and my last one was in about January so might be at the end now though I see the message above about 9 month gaps so who knows?

I didn’t get to menopause until I was 56, so it’s not unusual. Unless I’m unusual. Which wouldn’t surprise me 😜
