Over 50 and still in Perimenopause?

I am 54 years old and still menstruating every month. Should this be a concern?
Are there any ladies here who are still having periods over the age of 50?
Thanks for reading.

I'm 55 and was still having regular (very painful) periods until I had the Mirena coil in December. After a 2.5 month settling in time, I've hardly bled since, which has been fantastic!

When I was a child (1970s) we were often told that typical menop age was 52. So... if you understand medians or averages, I understood then that some people might continue with periods until later part of 50s (56-58 yo).

My mom was mid to late 50s. She was so over it that she said if I came home and started her up again I'd be banned 🤭

55 in march next year. Regular as clockwork every single month. No peri, no missed period. No sign whatsoever. Must look like an old nanna buying tampons

I’m 50 and still having them, albeit irregular. Fortunately, they seem to be lengthening between periods as I did go through a phase of 17 days between them!!

Gosh, more of us are over 50s.

My doctor told me I should be approaching menopause. I'm wondering if any ladies on this thread are menopause now.

'Approaching menopause' and being post menopause are different.

The average age in the UK is 51- 52.
The range of normal is over 45 to 55.

The transition for peri to post meno can be weeks, months or years.

Don't worry! It will happen soon enough!

Mine are still pretty regular as clockwork. I’m so sick of it. My mum stopped in her early 40s, but I’m still going strong 10 years later than her. I’ve been on hrt for ages, so I’m doing ok on the symptoms from but I am so over periods.

Thanks for the reassuring message. I am a patient person.
