I use ovestin and often have a little cream on the applicator and at the end afterwards. It seems to work fine. Stick with it, it makes a massive difference.

Estelle74uk · 29/06/2024 08:57

OK thank you. I'm sure just need more practice 😂

There's always a smidge left. I just smear it around the entrance.

It's fabulous stuff you won't be disappointed.

Estelle74uk · 29/06/2024 09:15

Oh ok thank you!

I'm not allowed HRT, but doc says this is ok. I know I have to take it for a while before it works. Glad it's working for you!

I don’t use the applicator. I smear around outside, then push inside (sozza) with my finger. Honestly it’s life changing. X

CalamityClam · 29/06/2024 09:32

I use it. Started off every two days and then moved to twice a week. Now I find I only need half an application every 2 weeks or so. Life changing.
I do find the applicator hard to clean though.

Estelle74uk · 29/06/2024 09:33

Hah it's ok. Maybe I can try that too Cattery!

Am loving the positive outcomes. Thank you so much

I smear a little on the backs of my hands and I swear the skin is better now there. I mean if it's safe enough for my most important mucous membranes it should be safe enough to plump a bit of crepey hand skin as well 🤣

Just a word of warning....using so little may mean that in time your symptoms come back. I have become complacent at times, using less, but then suddenly, the symptoms start again. You may not notice this until it's more established then you'd have to go back to the 14 days, and 2 days a week to get things back to normal.

CalamityClam · 30/06/2024 13:00

@JinglingSpringbells Thank you for the warning.

@JinglingSpringbells Thank you for the warning.

I bought some online so that I had spare. It's so rationed here I guess because it's £21 a 15 gram tube.

Rationed where?

I pay for mine privately (from a consultant) and even then it's 'only' around £12 which is the RRP plus the pharmacy mark up for a private prescription. Online pharmacies are a rip off.

We're in Wales where no-one pays for a prescription so yes it's monitored very carefully. You have to argue for anything. It's taken me six months and a cupboard full of unsuitable emollients to actually get hold of estriol cream. All telephone appointments.

Thank god for mumsnetters who told me to keep pushing for it.

Sadik · 30/06/2024 14:51

That's not standard for Wales @justasking111 I'm also in Wales, and just order a repeat prescription whenever I need it. I use the prescribed twice a week amount (started daily for a fortnight when first prescribed). Must be your GP specifically I imagine

Estelle74uk · 02/07/2024 18:08

Hi. Another question

Still use it on your period ??

Did you just try it once and stop? I started oestriol cream last night and feel quite uncomfortable today but I am hoping it'll settle down after a few days. Anyone know if it irritates to start with?

Cattery · 02/07/2024 18:51

Yes. It felt very uncomfortable to start with. First one or two applications. I thought oh no. I think it’s your body reacting to the hormone. It soon settled down.

Yes, I didn't do it again as it was truly nasty.

Wigglypasta · 02/07/2024 19:02

Thank you - good to hear it should settle down - well keep going!
Is it worth trying to persevere @marsmarshmallowfinder do you think? It might get easier.

Same

Cattery · 02/07/2024 19:13

Vagifem which is the hormone estradiol gave me a very bad reaction. It was like labour pains. Horrific. I had to give up. Estriol is much better. Trial and error I guess

Perhaps I could try again in that case!

Does it help with libido?
