CBD oil for sleep

yogagivesmepeace · 02/05/2024 18:06

Had a HRT review with GP today: I told her about my broken sleep problems, waking up at 4am ish and not being able to settle again.
I don't want to increase my oestrogen as I'm already on 100 patch, and when I was previously on a higher dose, I had frequent bleeding.
GP suggested that I try CBD oil to aid sleep, and said that she's heard good things about it.
I've ordered some, but wondered if anyone has had experience of using it, and did it help sleep patterns?

I had a breakdown 3 years ago and although the depression has gone I've been left with anxiety. It's not all the time but it flares up sometimes out of nowhere. It has also affected my sleep. My son has taken cbd oil and bought me some for my birthday. I have taken it every night and am sleeping so much better. I do have vivid dreams though but as they aren't nightmares that's fine.
The cbd oil I have is expensive. You get adverts in magazines which are really cheap or you see it for sale in boots or Holland and Barrett. The strength they sell is about 500 milligrams. I started at 3000 milligrams and after a while upped it to 6000 milligrams. Often they will have an offer where it's but one get one free, so I watch out for that and buy it then. It's definitely worth it for me

Yep, use it every night. I use the night time one from Cannaray. Also use the daytime one for anxiety. Find it great stuff. It's been a year now and makes a hell of a difference.

Heartbreaktuna · 02/05/2024 19:50

Yes it changed my life. The type I use isn't marketed as anything other than relaxation, and might just be a placebo but I don't care! I use one from CBD brothers. I recommend trying a few because the way it is extracted/the amount/type effect people differently.

Oh god I need this thread ! Would the posters above that have had success be happy to share specific products / links please ? Thank you.

Have you tried magnesium? Took
About 5 days to work for me but I haven't looked back.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/05/2024 20:20

My mum has been using it and is like a new woman at nearly 80!

Greywitch2 · 02/05/2024 20:22

I'm vaguely interested in this. I wake every couple of hours through the night and have really vivid, and pretty unpleasant dreams. I never feel rested.

Would CBD oil help? I take HRT and magnesium, but I'm willing to give anything a go, really.

Mylasmoss has really helped my sleep since perimenopause . It is a jelly like moss, no taste, that you can eat by the spoon or put in a herbal tea.

One of my parents had just started using this recently after prescription meds didn't touch her arthritis pain in her hands for the last 3 years and the specialist says to young to get knuckle operations. I think it's been about 8 weeks and even I can see the inflammation has gone almost non existent in both hands and apparently rarely feels pain now

rainydogday · 02/05/2024 21:18

I have tried CBD oil, was ok. The best thing has been melatonin gummies! And also magnesium spray, apparently it absorbs into your system much better than tablets.

yogagivesmepeace · 02/05/2024 21:27

Already taking magnesium. It’s the canna ray night time one that I’ve ordered. I’m really encouraged by answers on here thank you.

@Ahwig can you check your dose for me please? Are you maybe quoting the amount in the whole bottle rather than the daily dose? Im
just wondering if I’m not taking enough, though I think 5-20mg daily would be a max dose normally

Really hope it works for you as well as it does for me!

Something to remember, check the carrier oil, MCT can cause stomach upset after a while, if this becomes an issue, look for olive oil based ones

RacingLine · 03/05/2024 08:14

Magnesium did nothing for me but my daughter bought me a cbd oil that you spray on your muscles and I spray it on my legs at night - not sure how much it helps with sleep but it definitely helps my sore muscles

Ahwig · 03/05/2024 09:15

I buy it from supreme CBD the bottle is 30 ml 6,000 mg strength and I take 7 drops under the tongue about half an hour before bed. It doesn't taste great , it's not awful but I keep it under my tongue for about 30 seconds then swallow it. A quick swig of water gets rid of the residual taste.

meelee20119 · 28/06/2024 17:01

CBD was helping me with my perimenopause anxiety i was taking 8 drops a day which is 20mg but after the FSA guidelines dripped it to just 10mg my anxiety is back 😔
I posted on here to see how this drop had affected others but my post got no relies

@yogagivesmepeace how did you get on with the CBD?

abouttoturn50 · 03/07/2024 08:50

@Ahwig which brand do you use if you don't mind me asking?

Supreme CBD oil, it's expensive but they often have a buy 1 get 1 free offer and there are also discount codes on line and sometimes you can use both together

abouttoturn50 · 03/07/2024 14:56

@Ahwig thank you. Just seen that you'd already posted that. Menopause brain at its finest! 🤣

Enigma52 · 03/07/2024 17:49

Anyone using CBD brothers purple oil for anxiety? I've started taking a couple of drops a day and my mood is definitely better an hour or so afterwards!

yogagivesmepeace · 03/07/2024 18:57

I’m still undecided regarding how helpful the oil is. Have not used it for a few weeks and have slept fairly well with lavender oil on my pillow. I’ll give the oil another go now i think.
The very best thing for a good night’s sleep is peace of mind.
