Did you experience early menopause?
I thought I'd read that this was likely to correlate.
I'm curious as mine started at 10 years old and I'm now 43 with no peri symptoms & pretty sure I ovulate every month. Wondering when I can expect it to start. I think my mum went through it at around 50. Did you through it at a similar age to your mum. Maybe this is a better indicator?

Started just after my 11th birthday, penultimate period just after my 50th and last one just after my 51st!

Lizzieregina · 11/01/2024 22:51

Started at 12 finished at 55.

i think my mum was younger than me but I’m not sure.

DontGetMeStartedOnThat · 11/01/2024 22:53

I was 11. My periods eventually stopped 6 months before my 60th birthday! After 6 years of horrendously heavy periods/flooding, endless tests, scans, hormone tablets on and off. My mum was 45 when she started, 51 when hers stopped

Scutterbug · 11/01/2024 22:55

My mum started her periods at 10 and went through menopause at 57! My sister and I started at 12 and my sister is Now 57 with signs only just starting to show. I’m 49 with no sign of menopause. I really wish I could get it over and done with!

Justmuddlingalong · 11/01/2024 22:56

Started at 12.
Still having regular periods at nearly 54.

NewYear24 · 11/01/2024 22:57

I started my periods at 11 and am still having the odd one at almost 55 despite having the coil. I am so over them now.

dementedpixie · 11/01/2024 22:57

Started at 11. Still having regular periods at 50

MissAtomicBomb1 · 11/01/2024 22:58

Oh blimey! There might still be a way to go for me then!!
Lots of my friends are starting peri so I thought it must be imminent. I kind of thought that as we all have a finite number of eggs mine might be all used up soon!

Still going at 51 🤬

ihavebecomecomfortablynumb · 11/01/2024 22:59

Started at 9, still having regular periods at 51.

Beautifulsunflowers · 11/01/2024 23:00

I was the complete opposite - started periods at 15, menopause confirmed at 48.

Mintymatchmakerheaven · 11/01/2024 23:00

Started at 12, finshed at 50.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 11/01/2024 23:00

Started at 10 and after I think 8 years of peri finally stopped when I was 48. Not sure when my mums started but her peri/menopause was around the same age as mine.

Lurleene · 11/01/2024 23:02

10 and still getting one every three weeks at 49. I'm sure I've read that the earlier you start the later you are likely to stop.

urrrgh46 · 11/01/2024 23:04

Started a week before my 12th.birthday - still regular at 2 weeks off my 48th birthday. I've had long periods of no periods though mainly down to lots of children so I don't know if that will delay menopause. Think my mum was.eaely mid 50s with hera but she was very late starting her periods - 16 if I remember rightly.

Avacardo2023 · 11/01/2024 23:04

Started at 10, stopped completely by 46.

Longlive · 11/01/2024 23:19

Started my periods at 9. Menopause all over and done with by 50.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 11/01/2024 23:26

I'm sure I read somewhere that the younger you started the older you finished...

DramaAlpaca · 11/01/2024 23:31

I was 13 when I started, so not early, but started noticing perimenopausal symptoms at 44. I don't know when my periods stopped as I had a Mirena coil.

Mossstitch · 12/01/2024 00:11

Goodness me, I can't believe how long some of you poor ladies have had to put up with periods! I started at 12, finished at 49 with irregular periods from 43.

mrsfollowill · 12/01/2024 00:29

Started at 11 - in peri hell at nearly 53! I'm so over it. Every month I think this may be the last- nope! The night sweats have stopped (started when I was 48 ish) so that it great- I only had 5 years of it Hmm
got very excited when I skipped a period this Summer for it to come back with a vengeance the next month.

I just know I have PMT right now so that sucks!
I buy a box of orange tampax every week so I have enough and at least 2 packs of pads for the month. Horrible! my own mum was done at 41 and cant believe it's still happening to me. My younger sis has been done for 2/3 years so I think it doesn't always correlate to your family.
Can you tell I'm in the PMT rant stage Grin rage and hunger!

Falkenburg · 12/01/2024 01:12

I started at 9 in the January and turned 10 in the April.

I hand an endometrial ablation at 44 which stopped my periods completely and then went through the menopause at 47 and had no problems whatsoever.

smokingcarriageonly · 12/01/2024 01:39

Started at 10, finished at - I think - 52? Though the last big bleed (six months of bleeding 5-7 days per week) was probably due to fibroids. They were removed, I had one actual period and then it was over.

TedandRebecca4eva · 12/01/2024 01:42

Started at 16. Haven't had a period for 3 months at 51. Just started on hot flushes. Still not native this is the end though as I kissed a period last year.
