Should I buy slacks?

Following on from the saga of not having started the patches because my period has decided not to show up this month., i figured I might as well take the plunge after i've had a shower tonight......but where do you stick them?? It says not to wear under tight clothing or waistbands but I wear tights to work and leggings a lot of the time outside work.....have i actually reached the age where I have to buy elasticated waist slacks from M&S??

I wear them under tights, or jeans or leggings and have never had a patch come off. I've found front of thigh at the top best location for me.

Luckingfovely · 26/01/2023 10:52

I put them on the top outside of thigh. And live in yoga leggings or skinny jeans and never had a problem. Stay away from the slacks!

NannyR · 26/01/2023 10:56

I've found that sticking it on my bum, under my knickers works best, the extra layer of fabric between the patch and my jeans means they stick really well. I tried them on my thigh but found that they started to peel off.

Dogsgottabone · 26/01/2023 11:11

You are really over thinking it! (as was I with my utrogestan timing last week)

I stick mine on my hip/bum usually it's under my knickers.

I'm on patch 6 and this is the first one that's peeled off a tiny bit at one corner, but I didn't spend any time putting it on.

I know it's working, my uterus feels very 'active', not quite cramp but twingey and movementy all the time. I can't sit tight up against my desk. And my breasts are v tender. So the hormones are def getting through.

emmathedilemma · 26/01/2023 11:52

eewww i'm not sure i want an active uterus @Dogsgottabone 😂
I'll try my thighs as I tend to wear thongs (sorry that's an image no one needed).

Dogsgottabone · 26/01/2023 11:55

@emmathedilemma Ha ha. No I wasn't expecting an active uterus either!

Battlecat98 · 26/01/2023 11:58

Never even though about this. I just wear whatever I want no problems.

ssd · 26/01/2023 12:17

Slacks as in trousers??

emmathedilemma · 26/01/2023 12:22

ssd · 26/01/2023 12:17

Slacks as in trousers??

aye, those elasticated waist nylon sort of trousers that ladies of certain age seem to wear in various shades of grey and beige.

OP posts:
ChickenAndHamPie · 26/01/2023 12:25

I go for the bri-nylon ones advertised in the Reader's Digest, drip dry and staypress. Much better than M&S.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/01/2023 12:31

Wear the slacks! At least round the house. They're comfy. And what they said upthread Grin Seriously though, I CBA to dress smartly all the time. Past caring what peeps will think now, which is a lovely benefit of being a MOB. Menopausal Old Bag. Smile

Pennyforthezombies · 26/01/2023 12:34

Slacks are back in fashion - wear them! 😄

Upfartooearly · 26/01/2023 12:37

I wear thongs and have my patches on my buttock. Generally my patches are ok apart from with one pair of jeans I wear with a belt which seem to rub the corner of the patch off. Big pants would be the way to go before slacks 🙂

emmathedilemma · 26/01/2023 13:09

Now that's the sort of tips I'm here for @ChickenAndHamPie !
Fashion you say @Pennyforthezombies is that why all the graduates at work are wearing what appear to be wide legged trackie bottoms?

Yeah, it's difficult to go full on frumpy old lady when all the 17 year old cool things have already bagsied the look! 😆

newfence · 26/01/2023 13:51

I find looser clothing makes it peels more at the edges as it brushes against it more when you walk - tights, leggings and skinny jeans are better for me (I wear it on the outside of my upper thigh)

Pandorapitstop · 27/01/2023 18:25

Ideally you should go for those slacks with a little chain on the front

Ooh yes, now you’re talking!
first patch went on this morning……

I always put mine on a bum cheek. They seem to stay put.

I can't stand the word slacks but I saw some (what I considered) quite frumpy trousers in M and S the other day and my teen DD said they were supposedly quite fashionable!! 😳 my mind was completely boggled.

NameChangingIsAddictive · 27/01/2023 19:20

Does anyone have any solution to then getting a black ish rim around them from material?

Mine stay on really well with any clothes and I vary between sticking them on my bum or high outer thigh. They end up quite itchy though.

SleekMamma · 27/01/2023 19:21

I thought the patches were supposed to stick over where your ovaries are?

Dogsgottabone · 27/01/2023 19:24

Really? I thought it was just anywhere below the waist.

I switch hip to hip. Couldn't care less about the black mark they leave, I'm the only one who sees it, DH rarely sees me naked and if he did I'm not sure he'd notice!

DameCelia · 27/01/2023 19:30

@NameChangingIsAddictive a dab of oil rubbed into the remains after you've removed the patch.
Any oil will do, although I'd probably give used engine oil a swerve.

imnotthatkindofmum · 27/01/2023 19:37

Personally I live an elasticated waist but probably because I'm fat as well as peri menopausal 🤷🏻‍♀️
