Evorel sequi

Eatmycake3333 · 08/10/2022 20:09

Hi everyone. This is my second post in a few days. Doctor put me on evorel sequi patches after terrible pre menopause symptoms. I’m a bit confused about how to apply. I’m going speak to the pharmacist again tomorrow but is this right?
1 Evorel 50 patch, for the first 14 days. Changing twice a week.
Then what next? I’m confused.
after the 14 days, so I use the Evorel conti alternatively with the 50?
thanks x

Plus can I wear going swimming?

2 weeks on evorel 50 then 2 weeks on conti. They are in order in the box so start at the front and change every 3-4 days (so 2 a week).
Yes you can swim with them on

Eatmycake3333 · 08/10/2022 20:35

So it will be in that order all the time? 2 weeks 50 then 2 conti? Not just to start with? Sorry my head is mush. It’s like a huge foggy weight over it and can’t think. I can’t even count at work properly, thank goodness for calculators.

yes you just do 2 weeks of one type then two weeks of the other. Literally open the box and work your way through it in order. Then open the next box etc. It's very easy, honestly.

cataline · 08/10/2022 21:21

The slip inside the box gives a table to show which days you change the patch on.

So, I put my first patch on on a Saturday which means that Tuesday is my next change. Then I just change every tues/sat from then. So it'd be sun/wed or mon/thurs etc depending on the day you start.

I use up all the sequi patches then start the conti until the pack is finished. Then immediately start the next one back to sequi.

You can bath, shower and swim with them on. Just make sure they're firmly stick down when you first apply.

Can I jump on this thread & ask about patches too please?

How on earth can they still work after washing & swimming to the sane degree? I just don't understand.

Can I get more oestrogen from a patch than from the Lenzetto spray I am currently on?

I'm a year down the line taking this and feeling incredibly anxious all the time.

Thanks 🙏

AutumnalCosyness
All this hrt Is an unknown world for me. I’m just starting to understand what days to change and what ones to put on. It’s all so confusing. When I was growing up, hrt was something old folk went on, now I’m one of them lol 😂. For the swimming I saw Amazon sell some sort of film that goes over your patch to protect it.

That feeling of anxiousness is horrible. I was getting it some mornings when I woke up. It’s horrible. I don’t even know why I felt like that,as I wasn’t anxious about work. Hopefully these will help

Don't waste your money on film or suchlike to swim. The patches really do stay stuck on no problem and are waterproof (so you're not dosing the local pool with hormones as you front crawl).

Luckycatt · 13/10/2022 14:51

I swim with my patches no problem. The only time I've struggled is when I'm a hot climate, and the patches seem to lift then.

Make sure the skin in clean (i use surgical spirits on a cotton pad) and warm up the patch in your hand before applying. Don't know why this works but when the patch is the same temp as your skin, it seems to stick better.

Eatmycake3333 · 13/10/2022 18:02

Thank you for you helpful advice. I noticed a difference in my joints already. They must be helping

Thats really helpful.
So you put the patch over the surgical spirit?

I switched from lenzetto and progesterone to patches and notice a huge difference.

@itbemay oh that's wonderful to hear. Thank you!

I started evorel conti 5 months ago after being on evorel sequi for 18 months. I am feeling much better since I started using it. I have dreadful headaches and these have almost stopped. I am also sleeping better. I have had issues with bleeding though, pretty well constant, finll y stopped now, for now at least, but apparently this can occur whilst your body is getting used to it - healthexpress.co.uk/evorel-conti

You maybe better starting your own thread.
But what progesterone are you getting if you have stopped the sequi?

RestingRulers · 01/04/2023 10:51

I swi almost every day with the patches and have never had any problems. I don't clean the area I'm putting them on with anything in particular.

One thing which helps is writing the date I'm meant to put them on on the patches when I get them in case I forget if I've missed one or not.

I feel a zillion times better on them. Good luck!

cmibby · 18/04/2023 07:34

Hi, just started on the Evoril Sequi patches - put my 1st patch on this morning. So my question is - does it matter which patch you use first - 50 or Conti as I didn't even notice (and wasn't told!) that there were 2 different patches. I have started with the Conti first.

Thank you

ArcticSkewer · 18/04/2023 08:40

Did you tip them all out of the box?

Open the box as indicated on the box (there's a lift up and tear tab) then start at the front and take one out in order, so you have 4 of the 50 patches in a row then 4 of the conti patches in a row.

When you stop the conti and switch to a new box, starting the 50s again, that's when you would expect to have a 'withdrawal bleed' aka period (because you stopped the conti, which has progesterone in it).

If you still have regular periods, you try and sync the start of the pack (the 50s) with the start/first five days of your period. It doesn't matter if you didn't, it just helps stop breakthrough bleeding

ArcticSkewer · 18/04/2023 08:41

Oh, my comment about trying to start the pack in the first five days of your period is only for the literal first time you start hrt - not for every new pack!!

Piggywaspushed · 18/04/2023 08:44

The instruction leaflet is very confusing. Once you open the box it does all make sense!
I started these maybe two months ago and am having terrible rages, headaches and weepiness some days, and itchy boobs. (although had those on the tablets too) Not a fan . Can't see the point if it makes mild symptoms worse and gives me new ones?

cmibby · 18/04/2023 11:52

Thanks - I have taken the Conti off (only had it on for an hour) and replaced with a 50 so on the right track now.😬

Kellz11 · 06/06/2023 13:14

I started on evorel sequi nearly 2 weeks ago and on 4th evorel 50 patch, go put me on them as last tests shown that i am in transition. I missed my period and my period came saturday just gone (3rd patch) is this normal as i dont start the conti patches until Saturday. Is this the evorel 50 that has finally bought my period after 60 days or is it the "breakthrough withdrawal bleed" so new to this and very confused as i dont want to bleed for months on end

Piggywaspushed · 06/06/2023 18:11

I had what you are describing on a 3rd patch too. GPs got very over excited about this and sent me for all sorts of tests for one breakthrough bleed. I's all so bewildering, isn't it!?
Have you had blood tests then?? Never been offered one.

Kellz11 · 06/06/2023 21:25

Did u have another bleed when you started conti patches? I cant deal with constant bleeds. It is all very strange
