Elleste duet issues - switching straight to herbs - help!?

Hello lovely ladies who still feel 35 but somehow got stuck in a timewarp...

I'm 51 and had one period in the last year, got night sweats, horrible anxiety and brain fog that, combined with post-covid caused me to lose a job... asked GP for HRT and got Elleste duet 1mg, cos there weren't any other options left in stock, it seems, after all the recent publicity! I had serious post natal depression - lasted for years and had to take a lot of medications and eventually heave myself out of it with determination basically, so is bitterly unfair that Menopause isn't plain sailing! :/ Anyhoooo... first month on Elleste I felt like 'myself' again, brain fog and anxiety better... but the bleed was bad. I have fibroids and a large womb, and i was reminded how bad my periods had been, a couple of yrs ago! Second month, started gaining weight. Bloated, and angry / irritable on the green. Bleed was horrendous - horrendous. Like, haemorrhage flooding basically. Bloating and weight gain is now really problematic - I have beeen actively dieting for nearly a month and gained a 1lb. I am technically overweight and need to lose a stone. Have got fed up so have stopped, 3 days into white pills of 3month, and swapped to Black Cohosh and Red Clover.. taking Menopace as well for the high dose vit Bvits. I honestly could not live with the bleeding -and the bloating/weight gain is too much on top, but I am frightened of symptoms coming back! Can anyone help? Anyone had luck with the herbs? I spent £35 in Holland and Barrett lol and might not have the best brands - Promensil Red Clover and H&B Black Cohosh. I felt like a dead weight in bed last night, slept ok but lots of bad dreams and have woken up feeling tired...and v bloated but is only 1 day off Elleste. Anyone had experiences of stopping Elleste? Herbs? Help! Thank you! X

You can use a type of hrt that doesn't give a bleed.
It's called combined/continuous. If your periods as so far apart you could consider this. You could also try the Mirena coil as the progesterone side of hrt.

It's also better to work on getting the right kind of HRT rather than ditching it as the first hurdle. Some women try 2 -3 types first.

Patches or gel might suit you better. Have you got a GP who is happy to help?

Herbs etc don't really work for many women, if they did, everyone would choose them and they'd be prescribed. There is another thread here on those and linked to a scientific paper that covers all alternative and complementary treatments.

Hi. I've been prescribed Elleste Duet for my symptoms and came across this thread whilst doing some research. You've made me feel I've made the right choice, my brain fog horrendous and I've almost quit my job a couple of times. Thankfully my GP (male!) has been really understanding and supportive.
