Which supplement?

I'm looking for a supplement that will help with hot flushes and difficulty sleeping.

I know that sage leaf and soy isofavone based ones are recommended.

I'd like to just take one tab that helps with these symptoms.

Thank you.

You are probably going to have to try and see what helps you. Everyone is different. The RCOG (Royal college of Gynaecologists) did an analysis of all alternative treatments and found that very few had much effect and the results were mainly placebo.

You might find it helps to read this scientific paper which includes all alternative options, and herbs are discussed half way down.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6419242/

It's better to read the science than rely on personal recommendations, because there is a very big placebo effect going on with supplements, but the science looks beyond that.

If you have no medical reason to avoid HRT then that is something else to consider because it's proven to work for almost all women. Obviously it's your choice.

If you find the whole paper hard to work through, the conclusion is the summary.

Herbal products are frequently used. However, there is no consistent evidence to support their efficacy and safety. There is the added concern that when used in combination with other medications, some herbal products could pose serious health risks. Vitamins and minerals may be important for women who are at risk for deficiencies, but do not seem to reduce menopausal symptoms. Physician-initiated discussions of CAM with women transitioning through menopause will help to promote an integrative model of care that will ensure the highest level of patient care.

Thank you very much.
