I ache constantly!

Hi all!
I'm 47, about 3 stone overweight and lately, I feel like I ache constantly. I've been trying to lose weight and have been eating well/exercising and am slowly seeing minor changes but still, walking up the stairs at night after sitting for a while, getting out the car after being on the road for a good distance, even getting off the sofa at night....feels like I'm tearing them from a project. It feels at times like my joints are locked and just don't want to move, other times it's like everything is just oh stiff.

Is this a common thing of perimenopsuse?. 😔

Me too. I have just persuaded my doctor to let me increase my oestrogen to see if it helps.
Also getting some bloods done to check for inflammation markers, as am worried about arthritis. Am 46 & peri.

SmiledWtherisingsun · 27/05/2022 06:10

Trying to lose weight is impossible for me. For the last 2 weeks I've swam every day, skipped a meal each day (fasting ), stopped alcohol apart from 2 drinks at the weekend. No sugar, bread, pasta etc... Haven't lost 1 pound.

KangarooKenny · 28/05/2022 08:24

I started taking cod liver oil and it has definitely helped.

LizzieSiddal · 28/05/2022 08:29

I was the same. I’m not overweight, exercise regularly and have, on the whole, a healthy diet, I could barely get out of bed in the mornings, or even getting out of a chair would hurt my knees. I went on HRT and within a couple of months it had all gone. (Even my feet stoped aching!). I cannot recommend it enough.

ClaudineClare · 28/05/2022 08:30

I am post menopause now, but was like this throughout peri and beyond. I found taking 1000 IU of vitamin D s day really helped. Some of it is osteoarthritis though (knees).😬

SmiledWtherisingsun · 28/05/2022 08:55

Oh god my knees are SO bad 😭

A few of us were discussing the same a few days ago on here so you are not alone.

I was thinking of trying these, reviews are mostly promising healthandher.com/products/symptoms/hot-flushes/health-her-perimenopause-food-supplement-60-caps/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIupeQ2N6B-AIVy-7tCh29aw1jEAQYASABEgJRr_D_BwE

In fact I’ve just ordered them. Worth a try.

Tapiocapudding · 28/05/2022 09:47

Me too. I spent about 5 minutes this morning trying to figure out the best way to get out the bath!

I have started taking Turmeric supplements but apparently it takes about 4 weeks for the benefits to kick in.

Badger1970 · 02/06/2022 21:29

I'm 51, and have had to see a chiropodist due to arthritic changes in my feet... and it's now appearing in my elbow. The pain is keeping me awake at night.

I walk 10k steps every day, and it's miserable some days.

lurchermummy · 06/06/2022 20:32

I'm the same. Sore feet, ankles, knees and sometimes hips. I feel tired all the time too. Taking a host of supplements including ashwsgamda. Not had any success with HRT sadly. I need to lose weight and am doing 16:8 I know exercise would help but when you're in pain it's the last thing you feel like.

Catslovepies · 06/06/2022 20:39

My back aches and I get really stiff. We're currently on a city break and walking around is agony, but standing is just as bad as is sitting with nothing to rest my back against. I'm finally back in the hotel lying in bed to get some relief. I'm 49 and interested to hear it could be perimenopause related. My knees are actually OK though - it's mostly my back and to a lesser extent my feet.

userxx · 06/06/2022 20:40

Yup. I feel like I'm dragging myself around these days. Everything aches, my feet are particularly bad.

user1468105798 · 06/06/2022 20:59

Oh I feel like I've found my people! I'm exactly the same. Husband has been joking for a few years that he's filled several notebooks with my daily list of ailments but it's not funny!! I'm 49 this year. Knees, hands and feet are particularly bad and I'm taking supplements of Magnesium, Turmeric, cod liver oil, Vit C,D and B12. Seem to help but I feel like I'm rattling when I take them all every day lol! Also period is now between 49 and 51 day cycle but cramps and pmt last around 3 weeks instead of 1 week. It's awful!! Thanks for letting me moan.x

Hrt did this for me to begin with. It was like magic. But it's stopped working now. Been on it since Oct. have just increased dose so fingers crossed 🤞

I think Turmeric is helping me. Yoga as well although I hate it!

Might give yoga a go. Do you go to a class or online ?

Icecreamandapplepie · 07/06/2022 19:47

I felt like this, turned out i have a pretty severe vit d deficiency.

Worth getting some bloods done maybe?

I've done classes in the past but I think I prefer online now. I feel less self-conscious. There is a thread on doing Adriene's yoga on YouTube if you're interested.

converseandjeans · 07/06/2022 19:59

Me too & I can barely get up off the sofa or out the car after a long journey. I'm hoping it's hormonal and will get better before it gets worse again 🤷🏻‍♀️

Parsley1234 · 07/06/2022 20:07

I’ve just had some acupuncture today I have used her twice before once to get rid of hot sweats which it did three sessions and a headache that wdnt go. I have booked 6 sessions she said it’s my gall bladder and liver blocked let’s see my joints do feel a bit better

userxx · 07/06/2022 20:12

@Fitterbyfifty I'll have a look thanks, definitely don't fancy venturing to a class!

I've found this, I could cry as I was so relieved to find the HRT worked so well, but I'm back to square one, I have upped my dose, but it's not helping. I'm not entirely convinced that the patches I'm using haven't changed though.
