I just don't feel like me and feel lost ...

I'm tired all the time, experiencing Brian fog, memory loss, headaches, weight gain, black heads and spots along jaw line, hairs on chin and neck. I'm emotional all the time and l have crippling anxiety which really is affecting my daily life. I've quit my job of 9 years and now I'm on my third job but still not happy. I feel like I don't have a purpose. I took a job with less responsibility and less hours but didn't feel happy or satisfied. Now I'm working more hours with more responsibility I feel stressed. I just can't settle. It's like I want something but then I don't want it. I'm 41 and my kids are teenagers so not sure if it's a mid life crisis or if I'm menopausal 😭. Did anyone else feel like this? Im not suicidal but some days I just feel like I'm done, like what's the point or my purpose. I don't even enjoy things that's I used to enjoy anymore either. I have the coil so don't have periods as such so no really changes there but I just don't feel like me.

Same except I'm significantly younger, ie mid 20's, brain fog, excess hair growth, mood swings, weight gain, worst skin I've ever had. I have now just had my first period in around 3/4 months and it's inconsistent...I'm concerned I'm in early perimenopause. I get ridiculous hot flashes to the point I can't cope and other symptoms, I have signed up to run the London marathon in october and begun training but symptoms are still the same and worsening. I had two almost back to back m/c's in early 2018 and early 2019 and not been ok since then, the latter was with twins at 16 weeks.

movingsoon13 · 17/03/2022 04:13

Also, I just feel incomplete in any work I do, feel like I'm wasting my time and want to travel and not be tied down, yet I know I'm only around 9 months away from buying a house, I'm so unhappy in my current life even after changing certain aspects

autienotnaughty · 17/03/2022 04:43

I'm 43, heavy periods every three weeks. Constant brain fog, weight gain, rubbish hair and skin. Anxiety and low mood. Yoga and mindfulness/meditation help. As does exercise and eating healthily although I find it hard to be motivated.

Can it be peri early 40s then?

Absolutely, 100%.

Does it get taken seriously?

If you have a decent GP. Go to a price peri/menopause clinic if you can. Totally worth it.

Nospringchix · 18/03/2022 20:47

@BlueSpeckledEgg

Vitamin D tablets are worthless as the body doesn't process the vitamins properly. They need to be assimilated quickly through the skin under the tongue or in your cheek.

This is absolutely not true!!!!

Yes, it's definitely untrue. I managed to increase my very low vitamin d levels with tablets. The dose, however does need to be high enough. I was prescribed a very high dose to be taken twice a week for 6 weeks followed by a maintenance dose for life by my gp.
Headexplodinganyoneelse · 19/03/2022 18:23

I have been on hrt for 3 weeks & noticed a difference already. Before this I couldn't sleep, was really anxious & very weepy. In addition to this I had 0 energy, couldn't wait to get back into bed & had no interest in anything.
I still get hot sweats, but not as severe, my sleeping is better & I'm not as anxious. The biggest positive is that I have got my energy back.
I had been back & forward to the Drs for 5 years with various symptoms. Wish I'd been better informed as I would have been sorted earlier.

GeneLovesJezebel · 20/03/2022 07:17

I put up with a lot of symptoms that I put down to peri menopause and ageing. Then I found out my ferritin was very low, and it’s surprising how many symptoms disappeared when I went on iron.
I also had a Mirena coil fitted so it didn’t happen again.

Agirlnamedrose · 20/03/2022 13:17

I am definitely peri-menopausal and can relate to brain fog etc.

I am currently lurching from one medical test to another. First one was gynae related but most likely caused by the peri-menopause. Now I have other issues which could be hormone related or could be more (possibly sinister) so need to go and get checked out. With covid delaying some tests, I feel that so far that's what 2022 has been about and now the next set of health worries have kicked in (I also am prone to health anxiety which again, is being aggravated by the peri-meno) but do also need to get checked out. Will ask GP to look at ferritin levels too (is this the same as increasing iron or something more specific?)

GeneLovesJezebel · 20/03/2022 15:18

For my low ferritin I went on ferrous Fumarate, and increased my red meat.
My paplatations, breathlessness on walking for 30 minutes, and tingly hands/arms all went when my ferritin came up.

I just wanted to come on and say thank u so much to the posters who recommended l'tyrosine. Really recommend these tablets

Picklesandbeans · 24/03/2022 13:38

I feel the sane age 44 and honestly all of your posts have helped. Going to get some supplements

AnastasiaRomanov · 24/03/2022 13:48

Are these the same as 5 HTP?
gungemonster · 24/03/2022 14:24

HRT has made a massive difference to me but peri menopause has exacerbated the ADHD that I have coped with all my life.
I've just ordered some L-Tyrosine thanks to this thread. Wish me luck

Peanutssuck · 24/03/2022 15:15

@AnastasiaRomanov Sorry, no idea. These are OTC and have made a big difference to me.

Peanutssuck · 24/03/2022 15:16

@gungemonster I hope they work for you, they've done wonders for me already

whatisforteamum · 24/03/2022 20:27

I take vitamin d and swear by it now. What dose are others taking.?

Capricornandproud · 24/03/2022 20:36

Can anyone recommend a brand and dosage of L Tyrosine please?

ReachersDaughter · 24/03/2022 21:37

Solgar for everything here, it is a well respected brand. Not sure what dose of Vitamin D I take, I will have a look in the morning!!!

Peanutssuck · 25/03/2022 19:14

I tried to get the Solgar one but they'd run out. Can't remember which brand I bought now, but I take one a day.

AnastasiaRomanov · 25/03/2022 19:38

Apparently 5 HTP and L Turosine deplete each other so should be taken in combination. I take 5 HTP but not sure how much L Tyrosine to take.

WarriorN · 26/03/2022 07:49

I take vits bit hrt was the lifesaver till covid fucked it up. I think it'll take a wee while to get back on track.

Apparently ashwanga is v good but according to research the effects can wear off / body eventually adapts.

WarriorN · 26/03/2022 07:50

@DesertStorms don't take vit d at night, take midday if you can. It can stop you sleeping

Have to say I take the spray a couple of hours after thyroxine and that's fine.

WarriorN · 26/03/2022 07:51

Same, all around 42 a year after second child.

I did have issues in my late 30s too but pregnancy helped. Which is then what made me think it was peri as my body loved all the hormones!

WarriorN · 26/03/2022 07:56

Tyrosine sounds amazing but seems isn't good if on thyroxine :(
