Does anyone take testosterone?

Nickersnackersnockers · 21/09/2021 08:26

Louise Newson takes the male form I think as testosterone for women is not licensed.

Heard it can be prescribed for women and can work wonders.

Who is on it here?

Hi
I am due to start it next week, it’s not licensed in the Uk so I’ve had to see my gynaecologist privately for her to direct my GP..
I am 39 and had a hysterectomy in November 2020 for a 20cm fibroid, was just meant to have uterus out.. they found stage 4 endometriosis that strangled my
Bowel and suspected ovarian cancer so the whole lot was taken.
I am in everol 100mg at the moment but have found my sex drive in on the floor and need an energy boost.
During my op my consultant put me a testosterone implant in which lasted 6 months.. was fantastic but can definitely feel it wearing off now x

JinglingHellsBells · 21/09/2021 09:53

As PP says it's only available privately from a consultant as it's not licensed for women. The dose is a fraction of the men's dose but same product.

I'm currently on tostran gel - one pump every other day. It definitely helped my energy levels. I asked my GP for it and she agreed to prescribe it.

Nickersnackersnockers · 27/09/2021 17:33

red panda you have a great gp. Hoping to convince mine too.

ibizafun why did you stop surely not because of your driving??!!!

I'm on Testeogel. Libido and energy are just so much better. My GP is a meno specialist and prescribed it off license without question.

sunshinesupermum · 27/09/2021 21:16

I m on Tostran gel prescribed by NHS

Itsnotdeep · 27/09/2021 21:16

I have androfeme (prescribed privately) - not sure how effective it is as I started it at the same time as HRT, but overall I feel fantastic compared to how I felt a couple of months ago.

sunshinesupermum · 27/09/2021 21:17

It must be licensed in the UK otherwise it couldn't be prescribed on the NHS!

Nickersnackersnockers · 01/10/2021 17:29

It's not licensed for women in the UK but gp's can and do prescribe it on the nhs.

I have Testogel from the GP. I asked and she agreed.

I use a combined Testosterone/Oestrogen cream ... I have my bloods checked every 3 months and the HRT is adjusted to reflect the results .. 🌸

Hi, what's this product called please?
QueenBee52 · 01/10/2021 21:10

its not a branded cream.. its called a compounded HRT cream.. it's literally made up monthly to compliment my needs and Im given it in a dispensing pump..

there's a lot of debate about it's benefits and risks .. pharmacists either love it or loathe it..

Its been good for me..

suesoso · 03/10/2021 20:58

I've been on testosterone, Androfemme (private prescription) for the last 4 months & it has given me much quicker & more noticeable benefits than the oestrogen/progesterone has. Better sense of well being, motivation, energy etc. So far I love it!

GezFox · 04/10/2021 13:42

I keep meaning to call my GP again as she has fobbed me off twice now so third time lucky? Did any of you have blood tests before they agreed to prescribe? Thanks 😊

I have bloods done every 3 months and then get a 3 monthly script .. if that helps ..

definitely keep at your GP 🌸

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 04/10/2021 15:37

I’m on T as part of my potion (lozenge compounded in specialist pharmacy, private prescription). I have blood tests twice a year. Been on it for four years.

Just wondering, Nicker, did you have no joy getting Testosterone from your GP? I am thinking of requesting same....
DSArnott · 20/11/2021 23:14

Question for anyone who saw a private clinic to get testosterone prescribed…

I know the cost of the private appointment but how much is the private prescription? And once you have tried it would a normal GP be able to do a repeat prescription but on the NHS?

Oblomov21 · 20/11/2021 23:17

I might ask aswell.
