There are so many on here so knowledgeable .....I'm 46, just got first prescription.

So Evorel 50 ...first question is this a low dose?

I have fully read information leaflet, it's quite scary to be honest.

So second question as I have searched internet but are risks immediate or after prolonged use?

Hi I’ve just started Evorel sequi hrt patches two weeks ago. So far so good no side effects. Just started the second set of patches (conti patches) on Friday.
My question to anyone else who’s had these is how long did it take for you to see any results and also has anyone had problems with them peeling off. I still don’t feel as though they have made a difference and I’m having to replace nearly every two days as they keep peeling off. Thanks for reading. Hopefully will get some answers xx

Battlecat98 · 13/08/2022 21:40

Hi Laney it took 3 weeks for me to notice a difference, I felt quite unwell with them up until then.

My friend advised to stick patches on lower stomach, I wasn't keen but tried and it absolutely works, they do not come off, even when I am due to change they remain very well stuck. I initially tried my thighs but they constantly rolled off. Give it a go.

Laney831 · 13/08/2022 22:16

Thanks @Battlecat98 for answering, I started my first conti patch on Friday so hopefully start to see some change soon fingers crossed 🤞🏻. I will definitely try them on my lower stomach. I’m currently putting them on the top of my thigh and I’m lucky if it stays on for two days.

Neveragain85 · 18/08/2022 17:15

I've been on these for 2.5 months now, noticed a very slow & gradual improvement in symptoms, though my mood seems to be taking longer to change. I have noticed I have to put them on a certain part of my leg for them to stay on, otherwise they get a crease in them. They really irritate my skin though, its pink underneath the patch & when removed takes a few days to calm down, so I alternate legs

Hi, I’ve just been prescribed these and I’ve just finished my period so should I wait for my next period or can I just put the patch on today?

No I think you are probably at the ideal time to start a cycle of patches (ie the fortnight of oestrogen-only patches)- they are meant to mimic and synch with your natural cycle, so starting on your period or just when it ends is okay, as your body produces oestrogen for the first 12-14 days anyway.

Hi I'm 50 and 5 days into the Evorel sequi patches and my sleep has improved massively already, was not expecting that! However I have a dragging sensation in my lower stomach, well pelvic area, and peeing feels a bit like there's pressure on it...anyone else have similar or same symptoms? It sort of feels like I'll get a period soon, but It's only my second patch..I thought it would be a month before I'd feel like this..any help would be appreciated!😁😬

jennakong · 09/10/2022 15:03

@MCP22 Sounds like ovarian swelling/ pain. Yes I have noticed it too, mildly and occasionally (2 yrs on Sequi) Very like when I was younger mid-cycle. Not sure what the relationship is between HRT and the ovaries, but it may stimulate them in some way - don't think anyone has ever bothered researching the female body in menopause that much, tbh!

MCP22 · 09/10/2022 15:13

Hi Jennakong, thanks soo much for your response! That's good to know that it's not just me experiencing it! It's only mild and actually dissipating today. I was just thinking it was odd as I've not even put a progesterone patch on yet! Yes indeedy i agree, i don't think there has been any research done on the female body during menopause! 🙄🙄Thanks again I really appreciate your reply 🙂 hope all is well with you and your menopause 😁

Im 38, 39 in Nov and been on these patches for nearly 4 weeks. Prior to starting the patches my symptoms had been stedily building for at least 6 months, possibly more. I initially put many of the symptoms down to stress and grief, following the loss of my father and some other awful events as wll as a new job and attempting to help, nurture, emotionally protect my 8 year old daughters who has had alopecia for years but more recently has lost much of her hair. Its been a tough year. Anyway, I started to realise my symptoms seemed to be cyclonic but instead of just happening when I was on my period, the symptoms started to creep further and further into the remainder of my cycle. I could tick most of the peri symptoms but there were not all present at once. The worst by far was the hightened anxiety, this was specifically jealth related, again something I thought was initially due to the loss of my dad. However, the anxiwty would only happen in the evenings, which I thought was odd(I suffered with anxiety following the birth of my daughter and it was more of a constant thing, not a monthly cyclonic thing. But this time it waa only happening in the evening, this got me thinking that maybe it was peri, but I felt I was much too young for that. In anycase it got too much and I spoke to my gp who was amazing and started me on evorel sequi for a 3 month trial. So I would say the first 4 patches have been good, I definitely seen a change in myself, I then started the conti patches, im currently on the last one of those 4, ive been brilliant until 3 days ago my anxiety has come back and its horrible. SO I have had a read of some different forums and it seems that the conti part can cause hightened anxiety. now, this didnt happen stright away and the anxiety has only just taised it head again in the last 3 days.
So I dont want to complain too much as it is all better than it was prior to HRT but I guess im just looking for people with similar experiences to me, and I want to know if it got better or what?
Thanks for taking the time to read.

jennakong · 18/10/2022 23:03

@louisejelley1983 Hi, you seem to be quite young to be taking HRT, are you in premature menopause? As a younger woman might you need a higher dose of oestrogen? Evorel Sequi is only 50mg.

I don't know if progesterone causes anxiety, I find it a bit confusing because it is meant to be calming, but many women say they hate it! Some women seem to be more sensitive to the synthetic sort, you might be better trying utrogestan (a more natural form of it) and oestrogen gel to see if that helps. There are some proper meno experts on this forum who may be able to help you better.

louisejelley1983 · 19/10/2022 06:47

No thank you for responding and sharing, each and every bit of it helps right now. Im on a bit of a journey and ive no real clues as to where im going and what will come.

I am young for it, I agree. Im quite confused too, but all the symptoms seem to point that way. Im encouraged that my GP has opted for a 3 month trial so we can figure things out, if things havent improved then on to the next thing I guess, im just glad shes takem me seriously. But in all fairness almost all of the other symptoms have dropped off and I was feeling so much better until about 3/4 days ago, and pretty much after my period was on the wind down, my anxiety kicked in again. This is better in as much as, I would be anxious for about 5 days prior to my period, my whole period and a good few days after too up until recently and that seemed to be growing. So if this remains as a few days over the course of a month, im happier with that.

Fom what limited information I have read and seen (the Davina documentary) its more beneficial to woman to treat symptoms as early as possible. Im still doing my own learning on it all and trying to educate myself so my opinions in that may change if I find information to say orherwise.
I have a referral to gynaecology as well, so due to my age the wonderful name they give it is premiture ovarian failure. Beautiful lol.

Thanks again for responding, its good to talk.

I started on half a patch of evorel sequi and gradually increased over 3 months. My reason for HRT was primarily hormonal headaches, but also stomach issues, nausea and dizziness. It worked well for the stomach issues. I have not had any problems with the progesterone and have now changed to evorel conti as I am now 58. I did feel a bit better fairly quickly but it was when I had the whole patch it made more difference - healthexpress.co.uk/evorel-sequi

SammieBM · 10/10/2023 20:25

How did it all go? How are you now?

HunterBidensLaptop · 12/10/2023 08:23

I have read this thread with interest as have just started on these patches - the first conti patch went on today. I've had a bit of trouble with them coming off, too, so I'm trying the lower stomach area - thanks for that idea.

I'm 46 and have been having increasingly annoying symptoms for a few years. I also take vagirux for vulval pain and dryness which I have had for years - the GP recommended keeping it going at the same time as the patches.

Pater01 · 12/10/2023 17:16

Following this thread with interest. Just started Evorel Sequi and wanted to hear how people are doing on it.

Diamond1208 · 24/10/2023 14:37

Just been prescribed Evorel Sequi.
Seems I wont be able to start right away as I am only on Day 11 of my cycle, however the comments here have been really valuable and I will continue to review with a vested interest.

eggsandbaconeveryday · 24/10/2023 14:46

I started the patches 3 months ago and absolutely love them ! My symptoms have pretty much gone. I was having anxiety attacks and feeling awful, almost angry to the point where I was apologising to my colleagues. I was exhausted and just going to bed after work. My head felt very unclear too. No I sleep better, dont feel angry or have anxiety and I have lots more energy. The next thing I am going to do is speak to my Gp about testosterone because I have zero sexual urges and this has been this way for around 18 months.

Pater01 · 24/10/2023 17:51

eggsandbaconeveryday this is what I want for me. On 1st month and 1st week of conti. Just want some hope. I keep going as better I am on them than not. Glad they are working for you.

Diamond1208 · 23/11/2023 22:41

Stuck on my first Evorel Conti patch yesterday morning and it’s now the next day eve. Definitely too early to comment but let’s see where this takes me!
