Evorel Sequi patches

frozendaisy · 04/08/2020 13:07

There are so many on here so knowledgeable .....I'm 46, just got first prescription.

So Evorel 50 ...first question is this a low dose?

I have fully read information leaflet, it's quite scary to be honest.

So second question as I have searched internet but are risks immediate or after prolonged use?

Oh no, sorry to hear you’ve had a bad day and I hope you can save your work. It definitely does seem like the first week on the progesterone was good but as it goes on the effects start to wear off a bit? But I guess if it’s just one week out of 4 that isn’t so great then it’s a bit like pmt and for me it’s still nowhere near as bad as pmt was pre-patches (so far!). And it’s still early days of course so might all level out a bit still?

ladygindiva · 04/04/2021 08:17

Yes catlady I agree, I'm still feeling pretty positive. A few bad days a month will be fine as you say, as pre hrt I felt dreadful one way or another almost all the time! Just a case of ride it out. I wonder if its the build up of progesterone that's too much as it gets worse the longer I'm on it so I'm considering wearing the conti patches for less days, or I've seen other posters say they cut patches in half. I'll ask gp or similar medical know all before I think of doing that though. Thank goodness I got better sleep now as we've got a busy day, visitors in the garden for lunch, first time in a long time!! Have a good day x

Ginsoakedcatlady · 04/04/2021 12:02

Please let me know how you get on with that, I’d be interested to know if it would work cutting just the progesterone ones in half? My gp told me I would probably bleed like crazy without the progesterone so I’d be worried that might also happen by reducing it? As it is, period is now over and was the lightest I’ve had since having my daughter 19 years ago! Also slept for a solid 10 hours last night which was pure luxury, the conti patches are definitely very up and down. Last one today. Have a lovely Easter x

Catlovinglady · 26/05/2021 19:45

Hi all just wondering how you are doing with the patch? I am on my second month and can honestly say I feel worse. The conti patch is nightmare which makes me a crying screaming banshee. I am on oestragen only second month now but I have bad ibs and achy legs now. The only improvement has been night sweats and insomnia. I have time off shortly so may have to see the doc

Ginsoakedcatlady · 28/05/2021 18:14

Hi Catloving. I’m now nearly at the end of month 3 and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. I feel great on the oestrogen, but very up and down on the conti. Month 2 was the worst - constant bleeding, tears and rage. Like the worst pmt ever! Month 3 has been better though - still had very heavy bleeding but only mild pmt type symptoms rather than being murderous and tearful for two weeks. Unsure now whether to give it another month or maybe go down to half patches or try something new, I’ll see what my gp thinks (I’m incredibly lucky to have a good one! ) . It does feel like it’s settling down a bit tho.

Dawnsie · 26/07/2021 12:05

@Ginsoakedcatlady
Hi there, just reading ur post and my situation is very similar. Doc put me on mini-pill to stop the horrendous bleeding, but on minth 4 I had horrendous anxiety, palpitations etc on the 2 weeks I was on the Conti. Obviously too much progesterone, so I e stopped the mini-pill now. Spoke to doc again today and she’s going to seek advice from the Menopause Clinic in Edinburgh. Did u try the half patches? Thank you

Ginsoakedcatlady · 27/07/2021 23:18

Hi there. I am still on the full patches. I decided to persevere and found things massively improved after the first 3 months - on month 5 now - and no longer can really tell the difference between the two types of patches. The only ongoing problem I have is the bleeding. It’s still at random times of the cycle (this month was 2 patches into the conti cycle) and SO heavy. I really hoped it would calm down as everything else just seems to get better and better, but it seems to be getting worse if anything. I’ve aways had heavy painful periods but nothing on this scale. So I’m going to (try to!) speak to my GP, who seems to know what she’s doing thankfully, and see what she suggests. Good luck with yours!

Ginsoakedcatlady · 27/07/2021 23:20

Oh and also, my sister is on the mini pill and they put her on the conti ones, not the sequi! Which sounds crazy to me as surely she’s having far too much progesterone!

menopausebegone · 05/08/2021 18:37

Hi. I put my first conti patch on yesterday. Today I've had a headache and feel like I have a very mild flu. They are similar symptoms I used to get just before my period.

I don't know whether I'm not feeling 100 percent due to the patch or the flu that is seems to be going round. I have very little contact with people but I may do a lateral flow test if I don't feel better tomorrow just in case.

Anyone else had these symptoms after applying a conti patch?

Holyshitbags · 06/08/2021 13:58

@menopausebegone
Can I just say, that sounds s lot like the covid symptoms I’ve heard of in this new strain, may be worth getting tested lol

menopausebegone · 07/08/2021 08:22

I feel much better but will do a lateral flow test just in case. The symptoms were very much like what I used to get when I was premenstrual so I suspect it's the patch.

Jojobro · 25/08/2021 08:23

Started the evorel sequi 50 patches 2 weeks ago. Moods improved but still having really bad flushes. Is this normal to still be flushing?

Saratonk · 10/09/2021 19:03

Hi all I've just started everol sequi 50 patches today. I have had terrible hormonal headaches for the last 2 years. Anyone experienced worsening of headaches on these patches?

menopausefun · 14/09/2021 18:53

@Saratonk - my headaches have been slightly better since not having periods or a bleed. I still do get headaches though.

Saratonk · 14/09/2021 19:05

Fingers crossed it helps me too.

menopausebegone · 14/09/2021 22:21

I will keep my fingers crossed for you - I know how unpleasant bad headaches can be.

52andblue · 16/09/2021 20:03

I started Evorel Sequi patches 10 days ago, on a 3m trial.
53, still having periods (gaps 3 wks to 3m varies but around 10 / yr) but the brain fog / anxiety / insomnia really bad so GP agreed to try HRT.
Don't feel any different so far, but early days. Fingers crossed.

Nickibic · 16/09/2021 23:12

I've just picked up my prescription for the Evorel Sequi.. after reading all info I'm starting to think should I or shouldn't I..wow nothing postive in the leaflet! But I need to give it a go. I've just finished my period would you suggest I wait till my next one to start the patch? I dont want to be coming on again if I stick it on now Confused

lynnejanie123 · 13/10/2021 21:22

Hi Nickibic,

I too have just got my Evorel Sequi patches and like you am nervous about using them! The leaflet totally put me on a downer and question why on earth I was contemplating using them! such a depressing read! How have you been getting on with them? As I understand it you start them within 5 days of your period starting. Mine was 2 weeks late and i finally came on this week but so undecided about using HRT! Ive been putting it off for 3 months! I don't get severe symptoms but my hair is falling out, I get irritable, tearful, itchy skin and so tired I end up lacking motivation to do anything!

SusannaOwens · 14/10/2021 00:05

I've just finished my first month. Nothing dreadful to report, my joints (which were the reason for the prescription) have been lots better. My hands are nearly back to normal, hips a lot better, knees have improved, though still a bit achey and the leg and muscle pain has more or less gone.
Flushes have eased, but tbh they weren't an issue - it was quite nice to be warm for a change! I feel more motivated, but have occasionally felt tearful - I never normally cry. Boobs were starting to get a little bit sore, so I've upped my evening primrose oil. I'm sleeping through most nights which is a novelty.

My periods have never been regular, so I just slapped a patch on when I'd worked up courage to try them!

Lazyb · 05/12/2021 21:40

Hi all. I am 49 and a bit. Last Sept 2020 I had my very 1st anxiety experience which was so bad. I never experienced anxiety that bad where it lasted about 10 months give or take. Bad symptoms, could not breath. I mean I had to deep breath alll the time. I didnt have panic attacks, just had to take deep breaths alll the time. After about 2 months, I had loss of appetite for 2 weeks vit I forced myself to eat and would cook my fave foods then was back to normal. Came constipation even up to now. Been eating gut yoghurts, kimchi and kefir everyday. The worst was INSOMNIA! at the very early stage I thought I was going crazy coz I couldn't sleep till about 2 am then ger up at 7 for work. That lasted about maybe 2 months, would take anti histamine drowsy, helped a bit. Then it got better ish. I would ha e about in average a night 4 straight hrs sleep but on wk will top up few more hrs. I was a good sleeper, could sleep up to 9 straight hrs so I was soo worried and obsessed with my sleep. Did all the sleep hygiene that sometime help and sleep tabs that will sometimes help. After reading more about my insomnia, I read about perimenopause. Talked to my GP, straight to the point asked about hrt and I said to him when a woman reach certain age and experience what I went through then hrt chat is in order. I didnt want them again to fob me off. So he prescribed hrt patch. Today is my 1 wk and so far no improvement onmy sleep. Personally night sweats and hot flushes is not a big problem but my sleep is. I couldn't just accept this is it. I still have my periods but very slight changes are happening. I just wish these patches will help my sleep pattern back to normal ish. If I have straight 6hrs sleep, I will be so happy. Sorry such a long story. I am just so annoyed that lots of women are wrongly diagnosed and just been given anti depressants instead of given a chance with hrt. We need hormones and they are depleting quickly when we reach certain age. I know all the risks and will just have regular check ups. Did anyone noticed their sleep improving after taking these patches and how long after using the patch did it start helping? Anxiety got better but some low moods cripping in sometimes but I can handle it. Thank you for your time.

Lisat1973 · 13/12/2021 18:21

Hi there - can I ask if you are still using the patches and if they have helped with your tinnitus at all?

Dearblossom · 15/12/2021 10:26

I am 6 weeks on them. I started on day 5 of my period. Felt better after about 3 days. Haven't had a night sweat since. Period was normal (heavy, I was hoping it might be lighter!). Skin looks brighter and my emotions feel 'softer', if that makes sense. I think I might have a bit more natural lubrication than before.

I am getting slight headaches and sensitivity to light but my eyesight has improved. I am going to get eyes tested.

Not noticing massive difference between the patches which was a relief but I did have a particularly stressful couple of weeks anyway and I felt I coped better than I might of before. Brain fog less, decisions seem simpler.

I talk to the GP in a week or 2 for my next prescription and will ask for more. Overall very positive so far.

DLR76 · 03/05/2022 17:26

I''ve just been prescribed evoral sequi patches, I've been doing some research and have found that is best to be prescribed micronized progesterone (Utrogestan) has anyone been advised to split the estragon and progesterone, reading some of the comments the estragon patch seems to be good but the progesterone patch not so good??

I'm nervous to start the patches but my doctor wants to see me in a months time to see how I'm getting on, ill ask the questions about splitting it up and see what he suggests.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 03/05/2022 21:44

I have just started the same patch was meant to start everol conti but none available so started this one. I was not told anything about splitting them. Sorry if I sound silly but how would that work? You would just put the conti on and leave it for a week? Sorry if I have misunderstood. I have just started it as prescribed and will review and see how it goes.
