CBD and menopausal symptoms

Has anyone tried CBD oil for menopausal symptoms?
A friend who lives abroad has been prescribed a marijuana based product by her doctor to treat her symptoms which started me thinking CBD might actually help.
I have used cannabis in the past and it has been a god send. No night sweats, has reduced my appetite and has helped massively with mood swings and anxiety BUT I don't want to feel stoned!
Is CBD the way forward?

How would you obtain it given the fracas yesterday about the child with epilepsy? It's not licenced in UK.

joyohjoy · 17/06/2018 08:12

CBD oil doesn't contain THC therefore is legally available in this country. It's hemp based.

I'd be really interested to find out if it works or not. There are potentially so many uses for CBD oil, I have a friend who is terminally ill and has been using it very successfully.

There are so many potential remedies out there undiscovered, really wish big Pharma worked for the greater good rather than for profit.

Cannabis has a kind of antidepressive act in the brain but it is not officially and medically approved.
My personal opinion is that it can give a temporary relief for meno symptoms but not the benefits that estrogen give.

I think it's quite complex and equally complex working out which CBD oil to buy but I can't argue with the fact that I've had no hot sweats or night sweats since using cannabis.

Can't say for the oil but marijuana has helped me massively with sweats and restless legs. It also reduced my migraine symptoms.

Emerald13 · 17/06/2018 12:20

It is not medically approved, maybe it relieves your symptoms but I am not sure about the longterm consequences for your health physically and psychologically.

NameyMcNamechangeface · 17/06/2018 12:32

Cannabis reduced your appetite?? Are you sure it was cannabis you were taking?! Grin

TheQueef · 17/06/2018 12:33

It reduces my hunger too. I get munchies but for real food not junk.

You can get through a pile of salad after a few tokes.

BettyBaggins · 17/06/2018 12:36

Whats the difference in cbd oil with and without thc? Apart from the thc of course! How does the thc component help the little boy with epilepsy but without it doesnt? Did I read you can buy the cbd oil without thc in holland and barret now? I

Sorry more questions than helpful but I am keen to understand properly.

I imagine I will be quite happy to use both estrogen and other supportive aids if i need during my menopause tbh.

TheQueef · 17/06/2018 12:39

THC works on the brain (as I understand it) and CBD works on the body.

If their hadn't been so much hysteria we would have better clinical trials.

All I know is the menopause starting caused my life to be unbearable (bad migraine) and after two years of agony I have relief.

Mycheckshirt · 17/06/2018 12:44

It's cannabis oil that's illegal, not cbd Betty, cannabis oil contains both cbd and thc and thc is the illegal element. In cases like the little boy with epilepsy the thc is part of the therapeutic effect so cbd doesn't help but cannabis oil does. Cbd is legally sold in the UK and yes, you can get it in Holland and Barret Smile

joyohjoy · 17/06/2018 13:03

@TheQueef it's done wonders for my weight and appetite too! I've yo-yo'd for more years than I care to remember and this is the first time in my life it's constant. My appetite has decreased considerably and when I get the munchies, it's just for raw fruit and veg.

OP posts:
joyohjoy · 17/06/2018 13:07

Oh, and believe it or not, my brain fog has decreased. That's either as a result of cannabis or my change in eating habits but either way, it's all working.

CBD is bloody amazing stuff. I take it mainly for anxiety but I'm also peri menopausal so I'm sure it's helping. i've been on it since April.

ProperLavs · 17/06/2018 13:10

cbd oil contains thc but tiny amounts that meet current legislation guidelines .

BettyBaggins · 17/06/2018 13:13

@mycheckedshirt thank you for explaining. And which oil are we thinking would be best for menopause symptoms?

BettyBaggins · 17/06/2018 13:15

Sorry, cbd oil for menopause, yes? I am keen to research as on the brink of it.

Which type are people finding useful for cancer?

joyohjoy · 17/06/2018 13:28

@ProperLavs can I ask, what make do you use and how much?

OP posts:
ProperLavs · 17/06/2018 13:48

I have 4 different oils but at the moment use / main ones. I use cbd brothers blue with added terpenes in the morning and sisters of the valley for lunch and night. I have a fantastic 40/60 indica satvia paste by cheds . The sisters is my favourite though.

Curlycath · 21/08/2018 20:32

@joyohjoy Just finding this thread and wondering how the CBD oil is with managing menopausal symptoms? Any help with irritability? I've bought my 1st bottle today and hoping it'll help, mainly with Teri le monthly cramps which have come from nowhere. Any advice on dosage greatly received, I bought 2.5% strength.

Yes I’m on the cbd oil and it has completely changed my life. I was suffering a horrible depressing menopause so was put on hrt . I felt my anxiety -sadness and overall well being spiral out of control and my family were at a loss to help.
So my daughter ordered a legal Dutch CBD oil after her sister in-law mentioned its benefits ( not Holland and Barret ) and one spray under the tongue I simply felt normal. I removed my patch and no sweats -mood is brilliant-I feel better than I have in years , and of course the oil contains no chemicals . My life and well being has so improved I’m actually telling all my friends about it, especially if you suffer from anxiety . Wish the big money making pharmaceuticals had not over shadowed this simple brilliant oil. And I wish I had taken this a long time ago.
