I have been having bad chest pains for last 30 minutes or so, just lying in bed. Was after eating but never had issues after eating before. Did have a stressful day as feeling ill very dizzy and fluish, same last 6 months but had to go to work. Could only manage a couple of hours then struggling not to faint on way back. Rested for a while though work emails coming in then got hit by terrible chest pains. Had ECG? 2 weeks ago fine after collapsing with infection so don't think its heart but is this normal and just a peri symptom. Going slightly breathless but mainly pain. Periods now 24 days apart. Don't really want to bother doctor as seeing them lots anyway but hospital specialists. Think my dizziness today is due to anaemia as its my period and I am bleeding a lot.

Chest pain is not normal at any age. Please call 111...999 if it gets worse.

alltheworld · 13/04/2018 22:54

Why risk your health? Please get medical advice.

ParisUSM · 14/04/2018 09:06

I am usually the first to say I don't want to bother my doctor, but in this case I'd be going. Chest pain isn't a peri symptom and with you having an infection and stress recently, there's a lot going on at the moment.

I take it they've done all the usual blood tests - do you know what your ferritin level is? I feel weak and dizzy if mine's anything below 25 or so, NHS are happy with 15. I definitely feel better well into the 30s and am aiming for over 50.

Hope you're feeling better this morning.

Thanks very much. Woke up with the pains too but they are now easily. Fairly certain its anxiety / stress, heart was checked out and fine a couple of weeks ago. Seem to be going very anaemic in periods but am under gynaecology and taking Feroglobin. I will go back to doctors if doesn't improve but am in regular contact anyway.

I have been told by paramedics that sudden onset chest pain is always a 999 matter.

penguinsandpanda · 14/04/2018 19:01

It's mainly gone now and can move fine but do have a blue top of tongue like when you've eaten a blue dyed kids lolly only I haven't eaten anything blue. I'm going to try and see if the blue comes off with toothpaste.

Sillybilly1234 · 14/04/2018 19:13

Go to A and E.

littletike · 14/04/2018 19:16

Seriously call 999 or 111 at the very least and get checked now. Blue tongue and chest pains may be the start of something very serious.

Ohyesiam · 14/04/2018 19:19

Go to a and e . If you’ve had a heart attach there will be salvageable tissue in your heart IF you get treatment

Fairylea · 14/04/2018 19:21

If your tongue is blue and you’re having chest pains you should absolutely be ringing 999.

Fairylea · 14/04/2018 19:23

Just wanted to add - menopause does funny things to your body so yes you could have a lack of oestrogen or anaemia that would cause chest pains but equally it could be something very serious (and oestrogen deficiency and anaemia are quite serious in themselves and can lead to heart problems) so you must be checked out. I had severe chest pains and I was diagnosed with Addison’s disease, anaemia and oestrogen deficiency.

penguinsandpanda · 14/04/2018 19:32

Thanks very much, its not going with toothpaste so I am calling 111.

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 14/04/2018 19:35

The chest pains have eased a lot and can move fine. Heart scanned at A &E two weeks ago fine and low blood pressure. Did have op 1 month ago.

ScarlettDarling · 14/04/2018 19:38

Op, have you rang 111? Yes, anxiety can cause chest pains but I'm sure it doesn't cause a blue tongue. Ring for advice.

penguinsandpanda · 14/04/2018 19:41

I am on the phone now but there's a wait. I do take iron meds but that's brown.

OP posts:
Fairylea · 14/04/2018 19:42

When you say heart scanned do you mean an ecg or an actual echo? Because an ecg just means that at that particular moment that they test they didn’t see anything wrong. It won’t show if you have angina or some other intermittent heart issue. I don’t mean to worry you but you really do need to be checked out, but yes it could be anxiety or anything really!

3boys3dogshelp · 14/04/2018 19:44

Do you have anyone with you penguins? If you can’t get through on 111 you should ring 999. Please unlock your front door. Hope everything is ok Flowers

Emerald13 · 14/04/2018 20:26

Hi! Try not to panic and consult your doc. I think that maybe your chest pain is a side effect from the Feroglobin you take. :)

Rollerbird · 15/04/2018 11:45

Thinking of you.
How are you today?

FairiesVsPixies · 15/04/2018 12:15

Hope you went to the hospital and are ok, OP Flowers

penguinsandpanda · 15/04/2018 18:13

Thanks for the messages. 111 sent an ambulance, ambulance took to A&E who initially just put with GP then GP said I needed proper tests and just got home now - all clear. Blue tongue they think is just iron. Chest x-ray clear, ECG OK, blood tests OK so they think stress.

ParisUSM · 15/04/2018 18:40

Glad you're ok, what a stressful time you've had. Hope you're able to relax now. Take care

penguinsandpanda · 15/04/2018 19:28

Thanks very much Paris

It was long they were testing until 4.30am then again from 7am so completely knackered and DH and DD grumpy here (tired) so not too relaxing at present but seems to be calming down. Think DH is worried as he was very grumpy then crying but now on piano, DD had a strop. DS is being lovely as is the cat. Work is frantic but they are looking for ways to improve things and they are so lovely normally and should improve after a week or so. They have offered for me to get myself signed off. Gave me a bit of a shock as I have never had pains like that, it was like a tonne of bricks was on my chest. People were right it is apparently a 999 thing asap, I got told off for not seeing them until the pain had pretty much gone as they said its too late then to pick some things up. At least all the tests came back clear and met some nice old ladies at the hospital. One 96 year old who kept trying to discharge herself by walking out and refusing to wear a gown, wearing a black silk nightie instead, and talking to everyone in Greek. 😂

I’m so glad you are okay. Chest pain is really scary, isn’t it.
Flowers

I hope you can find some ways to try to reduce stress. For me it’s been exercising (!) even though I’d never done any exercise in my life and I have lots of health problems. The chest pains made me anxious about my heart even though thy said it was okay so I feel that at least by doing lots of exercise I am doing the best I can to keep myself healthy.

FairiesVsPixies · 15/04/2018 20:25

Glad you're ok. It's amazing what stress can do. You really need to chill now Brew
