Hello all - so, who's coming to the First Annual Summer Picnic in the Park? I thought somewhere near the Bandstand would be a good meeting point - near to the tea rooms too!

Hopefully the date will suit you - please come, bring a rug (or even a chair - Beachy that means you!!), a picnic, your kids, the sunshine.

Everyone welcome.

I know - not speedy on making decisions in the Greenwich area are we? So I will have to wear my bossy cow hat and suggest 11am (ish) somewhere shady and open at the bottom of the hill (still waiting for suggestions for that bit!).

I second KB and MLL

jenweber630 · 20/07/2005 17:37

Great - works for me.

Norash · 27/07/2005 18:07

Hey Guys,

I hope this does not happen, but what if the weather is bad? Where do we meet then?

I think there is a covered corridor between the Maritime museum and the queen's home and there are benches - maybe that would work if it is raining??

KBear · 31/07/2005 09:07

If it is torrential rain first thing I think we should maybe postpone because it's not much fun for the kids when it's like that. Check in here first thing maybe. Up to you all of course but I probably won't come if it's like that.

If it's just a chance of rain we could go for it and run for cover if necessary!

So, let's meet where mummylonglegs suggested shall we? "by the outside bit of the Maritime Museum. Where the wooden benches are and that little boat/slide thing".

Time? Shall we say 11am? If anyone wants my mobile number feel free to CAT me.

Who's coming then?? So far::

who else? Bran? Xena? Toomanypushchairs? Olliesmum?

Yes I think so! Let's hope the sun shines on us.

Yes, I'm still coming. I'm not sure I'll be there by 11 though and you will probably have move out into the park by the time I get there. Do you have a Mumsnet flag or something that you can tie to a pushchair?

KBear · 31/07/2005 17:02

I have a couple of union jack flags from waving at the Queen last week - I'll tie one to the buggy handle so you'll see us! I only said 11 as a starting point - feel free to change the time.

Come on you lot - hands up.

BBC's weatherman said tomorrow is picnic day! (freezing out there this morning - even the kids won't go out in the garden!)

The sluglet's always up for a run in the park and some 'scoff' as she likes to put it.

I have a technical hitch which involves me dropping out of the picnic I suggested!!

My best mates's DH was rushed into hospital this morning with peritonitis and is due to be operated on tomorrow. I feel I need to be around for tea and sympathy and also on standby in case she needs to leave her DD with me while she is at the hospital tomorrow.

Luckily I didn't tell my kids in case it rained and they were disappointed.

Sorreeeeeeee - I hope everyone else turns up and has a great time though. Someone tie a balloon or a flag to their buggy for Bran!!

Jen - have you heard from Beachy? Is the baby due soon?

See you all next time.

Kbear - I'm so bummed!! Your friend is lucky to have such a marvelous friend! I've been thinking about beachy - the baby is due anytime but whether she had it or not I don't know - I don't have her phone number or would have called her. Mitchell has gymboree tomorrow at 11:30 - if the weather is nice tomorrow then we'll reschedule it for the next day but if not we'll go and be to the picnic around 12:30. Looking forward to seeing you all - in front of the National Maritime Museum yes??

Good grief, did anyone go? I was in a rush to get out of the house this morning to go to Gymboree (it's on Greenwich High Road MLL), and I had ds in my arms and bent down to put him on the changing mat and my back went. Just like you see on comedy films, I couldn't stand up straight or anything. Fortunately it was literally seconds before dh went off to work so he took a day off to look after ds.

I hope your friends dh feels better soon Kbear.

bran · 02/08/2005 18:35

Just realised that I didn't apologise for not turning up, so sorry. I was what I logged on to do, but then when I saw the other posts I forgot.

Will there be another one?

Hi all - so did anyone go? Weather turned out okay too.

My friend's DH is still in hosp - turns out he's got an abscess somewhere inside (won't turn your stomach at dinner time) ! and they are pumping him full of antibiotics and will make a decision about surgery later in the week.

I'm at work for the rest of the week now but if anyone comes up with some dates throughout the summer we could try again!

Mummylonglegs - yes, it's actually right near the HSBC on the second floor of a building... If you type in greenwich gymboree it will give you the website and phone number for it and you can book an introductory class to see if you like it. Ds loves it - bran, which class do you go to on Tuesday? Not the 11:30 crawlers class???

I drove by today around 12:30 and didn't see anyone out by the noted spot - did anyone go? I was going to park the car and check behind the museum but ds decided to start fussing for a feed and decided to just get home so he could eat and have a nap. I think I'm going to start a new thread soon called Southeast London Mums for future meetups - though maybe we need to reschedule this picnic all together! Anyone have any thoughts on a time and place??? (Or should i leave Kbear up to replanning it...)
