Anyone fancy meeting in Derby or Birmingham?

Does anyone fancy meeting in Derby or Birmingham? These cities are easiest for me as I live in Burton-on-Trent and don't drive. The end on this month or middle of JUly are best for me.

Absolutely no problem at all! And if it means that there's more people there too then that's fab!!

Just to check with y'all are we meeting at the token booth, and parking in the car park that is just off the A52 - kind of lost the plot about it in my poxie spotty haze

Claireandrich · 18/07/2003 21:48

Can anyone give me easy to follow instructions. I used to travel to Duffied from Sheffield so know part of the way. I will be coming down the A38. I used to come off the A38 at the Little Eaton roundabout though so I need to know what I do from this point really.

Any help, please???

Claireandrich · 18/07/2003 21:51

Ronniebaby - good to here you are coming too

Wedgiesmum - my sister had hand, foot and mouth disease when she was a teenager; not very pleasant from what I remember

WedgiesMum · 18/07/2003 22:04

CnR Follow A38 ( i take it you're coming off the M1 at Junction 28??) right the way down to Derby and keep on going straight on at all the roundabouts until you get past the University (which will be on your right) the next roundabout take the right turn which is the A52 - it'really well signed from aall the roundabouts anyway.

If you're a bit uncertain let me know and we could always arrange to meet up somewhere along the A38??

Poor old DD all she can say is 'Mummy, sore mouf'...

Ronniebaby · 20/07/2003 21:41

Just to clarify we meeting in the park, and just general chitty chat. Kids playing, us gassing, WOW!!!! Men in Derby in fact people of Derby beware, the Mumsnet are merging on ya Still 12.30pm. Mocha you can direct me in as I haven't a clue where it is. Be with ya babe at 11am ish.

WedgiesMum · 20/07/2003 21:53

Think Derby is already a bit scared that I'm going to be back in the area after my disgraceful behaviour at Easter (red wine, silk dress, coach ride need I say more??). But that all sounds tickety boo to me. See you at 12.30 then at the token booth....

Mocha · 20/07/2003 21:55

That could be interesting as I don't know the way all that well. can someone give us directions from Burton please?

Mocha, what are you like

Ronniebaby · 20/07/2003 21:59

Mocha, Messenger playing up again, I'll instant message you 2moz, or text ya. Ladies MSN Messenger is ace if you have a hotmail account and they are free, Mocha and I chat and can invite others to chat in real time. See you all Tuesday xxx's

WedgiesMum · 20/07/2003 22:03

What are you two like???

Take the A38 down towards Derby (you can find the A38 can't you ??). You will get to the Markeaton roundabout which has a McDonalds on it. Take the left here onto the A52 then follow the instructions that XAusted gave on 12 June to find the carpark (further down this thread).

Do you want my mobile number for if things go a bit pearshaped?? Email me at [email protected] if you do.

Laters.....

Mocha · 20/07/2003 22:24

I can get to the McDonalds island,it is from tere that I am not sure. I will print out XAusted instructions, but can I have your mobile number just in case. Have sent you an email.

OK, have directions. I gather there is a signposted car park from the A52? Is the play area/ticket booth close to car park?

Sorry to be a pain! If it was Sheffield I would be better - well, possibly not!

Do I need change for the parking/ticket booth? As opposed to notes I mean?

See you all at 12:30

Wedgiesmum - I will e-mail you with my mobile too in case, but I am definitely planning on coming. The house packing can wait!!!

XAusted · 21/07/2003 20:30

Can't join in tomorrow as am going away but will be thinking of you! Have been to Markeaton today. Lots of fun. Be warned - there are roadworks on the A38 which might slow you down, however, shouldn't be too bad around mid-day.

WedgiesMum · 21/07/2003 21:16

CnR and Mocha - emailed my number back.

Not sure about what type of money we need as I haven't been there!!! I would say that the carpark needs change, but the token booth will take notes??? I think the ticket booth is closest to that carpark though if I'm reading this thread right.

Aaaah we'll be fine I'm sure, and I'll just set DS on them in the ticket booth if they argue - he's GREAT at stropping at the moment!

Sorry you can't make it XAusted - maybe next time??

Claireandrich · 21/07/2003 21:22

Got the e-mail thanks. Down the thread it says the car park is 70p for 4 hours so that seems good. I will raid DD's school fees money box for some change before I set off, just in case

Sorry you can't ,ake it Xhausted.

See you all tomorrow!

Mocha · 21/07/2003 21:38

So I stumbled on this thread. Really just curious as I saw there has been less Mumsnetters meeting up - well the latest meet up threads are pretty empty these days are empty. But I remember these days. I stumbled on this one thinking maybe it was more 2019 to see if people met up more before Covid. Anyway this thread took us back some 20 years! I can relate to these times having similar age babies and toddlers etc back then. I just wondered, how are you all doing? Your kids are adults now. Does anyone else relate to this? These kids are all likely working and maybe having babies of their own. Funny how quickly life passes us by. It goes so quickly.
