Croydon IKEA Breakfast Meet-up.............

serenity · 09/05/2005 18:13

OK then, IKEA do a rather nice cooked breakfast for £1 - scrambled egg, hash browns, sausage, bacon, tomato and beans, tea or coffee. Very popular with the local mums, OAPs and B&Q Managers who have breakfast meetings in there!

Anyone fancy breakfast??

I am planning to go on Friday 27 May anyway, so I'll throw it in as a possible workable date. I won't be able to do it for at least 6 weeks after that (minorish op, can't drive afterwards)

There is a big bank holiday sale that weekend, so it's a good chance to check the bargains out, without braving the weekend crowds

I do get there ridiculously early as I go straight from dropping DSs at school, the restaurant opens at 9.30am, half an hour before the store. I'm usually there about 9.15......hope someone fancies joining me!

Excellent.

Dh is working but is starting late so I can have the car.

I'll be there with Ds2+3.

haven't read the whole thread, what time are we meeting?

Really looking forward to it now.

emmatmg · 13/05/2005 08:46

Read it now, I 'll be there with you, serenity by 9:30 at the latest.

Firewalker · 14/05/2005 13:12

Great - thanks for your answers. I hope to see you there. Won't be there at 9.30 though as DD still has a morning sleep. Like her parents, she loves her sleep! I'll probably be nearer to 10.30! Will you still be there then??

Who should I be looking for? You won't miss me, 6ft blonde!!!

serenity · 14/05/2005 14:48

CAT me, and I'll send you my mobile number and we can let you know where we are (probably still in the restaurant with this many people and kids )

OP posts:
stitch · 14/05/2005 15:46

serenity, how will i recognise everyone?
where will be meet? downstairs? or upstairs in the food area?

angelp · 15/05/2005 06:55

Hey can I come too? Don't live near Croydon but alays up for an Ikea meet. And brekkie sounds fab. ould have DD 21 months to keep up the numbers!

serenity · 15/05/2005 10:58

Hey I'm not organised enough to have thought that far ahead yet

Eeeerrr, well, I'm going to be there early and I will (weather permitting!) wait in the enclosed outside childrens play area at the front of the store, just to the left of the entrance. I'll think of something distinguishing to hold nearer the time (ballloons, ribbons etc) but tbh there is unlikely to be anyone else but me there! If anyone is going to be there a bit later, we can meet them in the restaurant. Either we can definitely do the balloon thing, or we can email photos of each other or I can give you my mobile number? Anyone getting there really late should ring me and we'll find each other that way......... does that cover everything?

IKEA Croydon's home page has all the info about location, parking etc - there is a different car park entrance to the store atm, but it has huge signs up so you won't miss it

Parent and child/disabled parking spaces are all up by the entrance, so head for the chimneys when you get into the car park and you'll find them easily.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 15/05/2005 11:20

There are some sneaky spaces round the side by the chimneys too (or were a month ago!). Don't always get spotted by people.

serenity · 16/05/2005 15:26

So far then, the following people are going

Me
tiddlypom
emmatmg
stitch
sandyballs
kelly1978
firewalker
angelp
and possibly bambi06?

I know firewalker won't be there until later, but is everyone else aiming for 9.30ish?

OP posts:
stitch · 16/05/2005 22:24

yup. ill come straight from school drop off, so depending on traffic, should be there about 9.20ish.
meeting in the outside park initially sounds good
see you all there!

tiddlypom · 16/05/2005 22:34

Great - see you there!

tiddlypom · 16/05/2005 22:35

Meant to say - yes, should be there around 9.30, coming straight from school.

Firewalker · 17/05/2005 20:06

Great - I will probably be there about 10.15 as if DD doesn't get her morning nap between 9 and 9.45, the whole of Croydon will know it!! Like her parents, she loves her sleep. Can someone give me some ideas who I should be looking for so I don't wander around like Billy Nomates!! Oh, and if anyone can, can they hold off brekkies until I arrive. I don't want to be the only one stuffing my face.

Sorry to be so demanding!!

angelp · 18/05/2005 07:48

Does anyone know how bad it is getting through Croydon at that time of morning? WIll be coming from Junction 6 of M25

Kelly1978 · 18/05/2005 08:24

yes, coming straight from school too. Should be there around 9.30.

angelp · 19/05/2005 19:01

Sorry, going to have to bow out. Am told getting there would be hell first thing in the morning...
Will have to go solo to Lakeside

SoupDragon · 19/05/2005 19:13

I wouldn't have said it would be that bad at all.

stitch · 19/05/2005 19:16

angel, i dont think it will be that bad. sure it will be busier than if you came at 11, but not too bad imo.
where are you coming from? lakeside isnt exactly that near?

SoupDragon · 19/05/2005 19:18

I live on the route you'd have to take from J6 and @ve never had any problems getting to Ikea - especially if you're aiming for 9:30 or later. The majority of traffic has cleared by then.

stitch · 19/05/2005 19:18

firewalker, dont know about anyone else, but ill be the fat asian woman with a boy and a girl. girl will be probly be a stroppy person.
of course in my minds eye i am sleek and elegant like catherine zeta jones

serenity · 19/05/2005 19:29

angel - I really don't know what it will be like, but I'd trust SD. I know it can be bad earlier in the morning, but I would have thought it would still be better than Lakeside (unless you are over that way anyway?)

Soupdragon - I see you lurking not tempted to come?

firewalker - I'm tall, long dark hair, probably wearing a denim jacket, with 18mth manic DD. CAT me and I'll send you my mobile number....

OP posts:
Firewalker · 21/05/2005 14:52

Angel

If you come along a bit later (as I am) you should be OK.

Stitch - thanks I'll look out for a Catherine Zeta Jones lookalike!

Serenity - I'm new to the board so in my ignorance I'm not sure how to CAT you!! {smile}

SoupDragon · 21/05/2005 14:59

I don't do meetups I'm afraid. But if you see someone tall, slim and bearing a striking to a dark haired Nicole Kidman, assume that it's me!
