HI folks,

I was wondering if there are any Mumsnet meet-ups in Central Scotland??

There was an Edinburgh meet up last summer , and the group talked about another for a short while but if there was a second, I missed it. I'd be interested though - I'm based in Edinburgh.

mum2toby · 22/01/2003 17:07

Excellent Janeway!

Let's see if we can recruit some more people. I'm based in Falkirk so Edinburgh is fine for me.

OP posts:
Lambchops · 22/01/2003 21:24

I'm Edinburgh too

gillymac · 24/01/2003 17:21

I missed last summer's meet-up as I was away on holiday then so I'd be interested. Edinburgh would be fine for me too.

sammac · 24/01/2003 18:50

I went to the summers meetup in Edinburgh. It was great to meet others. We met for lunch one Sunday and some of us had the bambinos!(including me) I was very envious of the London evening meeting. I'm in N Glasgow suburb, so would prefer this, but happy to go to Edinburgh

Janeway · 24/01/2003 19:07

No reason not to take turn about with Glasgow and other cities/towns (Stirling?) if that's OK by most people. I'm just about to disappear on hols for a week, so please don't be offended if I don't respond to any queries posted.

lorne · 25/01/2003 23:22

Hi There

I am from up near Inverness in North of Scotland, I too would be interested in a meet up.

I'm in Edinburgh, haven't been on this site long, but would like to meet up!

mum2toby · 27/01/2003 16:31

Hey there's loads of us!! We'll have to arrange something soon. Perhaps late Feb/early March???

Mumsnet - can you help? Whats the normal protocol for mumsnetter meet-ups??

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 27/01/2003 20:06

It is about time we had another meet up. I was also at the one last year (without child although he made a 'cameo' appearance at the end). I am nearly 30 weeks pg with no. 2 so before the end of March would be good

mum2toby · 29/01/2003 08:04

Stirling is fantastic for food and drink. I don't live there now, but that was my haunt before dp and ds. If you all fancy a change of venue that is pretty central for everyone (regular trains from Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh, then Stirling is definitely the better option.

Tigerfeet: My ggodness we better hurry up or we may be acting as mid-wives!!!

OP posts:
gillymac · 31/01/2003 16:27

Stirling's fine for me too.
Anyone want to suggest a possible venue and date since TigerFeet needs to meet before the end of March. Weekends are best for me but I can't make the weekend of the 22nd Feb.

susanmt · 01/02/2003 21:20

I would love to come, but as I live in the Outer Hebrides, I am not sure that I would be able to make it in Feb/March, although I am going to be in Glasgow on 8th March.

Eulalia · 02/02/2003 15:06

I am near Aberdeen. Stirling would be nearest for me.

Janeway · 02/02/2003 15:31

w/e of 22/23 feb also not good for me (ds 1st birthday bash) but other than that is fine.

mum2toby · 03/02/2003 08:12

What about Saturday 8 March?? Evening preferably. That's if the snow has melted by then!

Tigerfeet: How's those last few weeks? I hope you'll be able to make it.

If the 8 March is ok with everyone then I'll find a good venue...
...do you want to have dinner, a few drinks, coffee, or all of the above??!?! Don'y know the usual protocol for Mumsnetter meet-ups..

OP posts:
JanZ · 04/02/2003 14:56

I was also at the meet-up in Edinburgh and would be up for another one - whether it's in Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow (I'm Glasgow based). 8th March is OK for me I think (but need to check when the 6 Nations matches are on).

Susanmt - if you're in Glasgow on the 8th, would you be able to make it to Stirling, or would you prefer it to be in Glasgow?

TigerFeet · 04/02/2003 15:14

Has a location been agreed on yet? 8 March sounds ok at this point but it all depends where and what time of day.

Am doing ok but found out yesterday I am slightly anaemic which explains why I keep nodding off every afternoon!

JoPat · 04/02/2003 17:30

Didn't realise there are so many form Scotland. I'm in Glasgow. Baby no.2 due on Monday so may have my hands full.
Never been to a meet up how does it work and what happens?

susanmt · 05/02/2003 01:25

Glasgow would be better for me if you are thinking of having it when I amdown, as I will be relying on public transport. I'm coming down for the weekend (so could also do Sunday) to see my best friend (leaving children with dh for the weekend - hooooray!!) and so through the day would suit better just from the pov that I reckon we will be going out on Sat evening. Would love to meet up but please organise something that suits everyone else, don't do it all round me!

susanmt · 11/02/2003 11:30

Have any decisions been made about this one yet? Thought I'd boost it back to the top to get some more input!

gillymac · 14/02/2003 21:06

Is everyone happy to set the weekend of 8th/9th March as a date? If so, would anyone like to decide on whether they prefer Saturday or Sunday and decide on a venue? I'm happy with anywhere within travellig distance of Edinburgh, i.e. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Falkirk or even Perth or Dundee but hardly ever eat out so can't recommend places. Come on, somebody set the ball rolling and make a decision...!

susanmt · 15/02/2003 02:29

That weekend is perfect for me - either day would suit but through the day rather than evening would be best, and obviously I would prefer Glasgow as that is where I am going to be, and will be relying on public transport. But am willing to travel!

Janeway · 15/02/2003 09:49

Mum2toby had offered to book a place for 8th, but was waiting on ideas for type of venue prefered. I only know Edinburgh, but It seams the preference this time is for Glasgow (only know bar 38) or Stirling so can't realy offer to book.

votes please for with/without kids
votes please for day/evening

for me Saturday is best (transport easier) and I'd go for a day event with kids (break the ice) but don't mind a child free evening one (suggested after last summer's meet in Edinburgh).

susanmt · 16/02/2003 23:08

Daytime would suit me better, and I am without kids as on girly jolly to Glasgow for the weekend (but dont mind other people bringing theirs).
I'm sure someone who lives in Glasgow or Stirling will have a better idea of where we can go.
