Moondog- you'll join us perhaps?

Just fancy starting a thread for this region- seeing as how loads of other regions have them

Oh, the Washington takes me back. Used to be a barmaid in Revivals (anyone remember that?) long long time ago

moondog · 16/12/2004 14:25

Kings Arms Catgirl-my sister worked there for a while!

Tinker, we would regularly leave the Wash en masse for a foray into revivals (or Survivals as it was called. Fun times!! Drank like a fish in those days and NEVER had a hangover..)

catgirl · 16/12/2004 14:26

oh I remember Revivals! indeed! Used to date a guy who was a manager there (I think he was a manager), who used to be a barman at The Octagon, Bangor, now its my turn to ! But I shall name no names!

I think Revivals is still going strong, but maybe with a new name.

Tinker · 16/12/2004 14:27

OMG! I'd probably recognise you both! Worked there for a year on Thursday nights.

catgirl · 16/12/2004 14:27

Kings Arms - thank you Moondog!

Snap re drink loads and no hangover - a glass of wine these days and I suffer [shock! It's cheaper at least!

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 16/12/2004 14:29

I was a King's Head girl to start with, then a Cottage Loaf regular for years and years. Still go to both if I'm home and dad's up for babysitting. Anyone ever go to the Rhoslan on West Shore - was a barmaid there for a bit. It's now been sold to make appartments - no doubt for the ageds who love LLan so much.

Tinker · 16/12/2004 14:31

Anyone used to go to The Old Hall? again

moondog · 16/12/2004 14:34

Revivals is now Broadway Boulevard.
Oooh yes, the Rhoslan. Sad when it closed. my aunt lives in West Shore and I've finally worked out why I've always vaguely hated it-no bloody trees.

I EVEN remember the Winter garden on that road down to West Shore. First 'nightclub' (using that term very loosely mind!) I'd ever been to! Seem to remember that some bloke wiggled his penis (unsheathed as it were) in my friend's hair. Looking back, we weren't that bothered.. maybe we thought that that was what people did in 'nightclubs'!?

catgirl · 16/12/2004 14:41

ohhh The Old Hall! Went there for my friend's 16th birthday - and bumped into one of the student teachers who was in our school! She had to dance with him -how embarrasing was that!

don't remind me about The Winter Gardens - what a place!

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 16/12/2004 14:41

I bet it was the same bloke who gatecrashed my 18th (in the Cock and Hen underneath the George) He asked me to look at his matchbox - it was only the outer sleeve of the box and his willy was poking out the other end!
I remember the Winter Gardens too - was a lovely old fashioned dance hall - very shabby though. Never went there to dance but they used to judge our daffodil growing competitions there every March 1st

Tinker! Old Hall!!
Crowd of us went once and sister's bf couldn't get in as he was wearing jeans. So the two of them went around the corner, my sister took off her bright pink leggings (circa 1987) and he wore those all night while she pretended her long shirt was a dress.
God, how could she fancy him after that? On refection, he was a bit TOO eager to get them on...

Tinker · 16/12/2004 14:48

1987???? God, that's when I would have been going there! You didn't get chatting to any Italian waiters whilst you were there? Used to work at Gigolo restuarant?

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 16/12/2004 14:53

We used to eat in all those Italian restaurants - Gigolo's, Romeos, can't remember the other ones. Now the one above Tiffany's has been taken over by a Bangladeshi family but is still run as an Italian.
Anyone remeber the Astra? Saw Dexy's Midnight Runner's there and then followed them to the George to annoy them at the bar - although we were well under age

catgirl · 16/12/2004 15:43

you can take the girl out of north Wales, but....

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 16/12/2004 15:45

Indeed. I hope I never change - can always be relied upon to lower the tone. I remember walking up and down the prom after a 6th form toga party trying to get sober enough to go home. Had sick all over my toga - told mam it was mud.....

catgirl · 16/12/2004 15:51

did she believe you I wonder?

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 16/12/2004 15:53

She did, bless her. Neither mum nor dad drank while I was growing up, she tried the odd sherbert when I was 18 plus but was teetotal until then - so had no idea of the signs - like your daughter coming home covered in sick! I told her it was mud.

catgirl · 16/12/2004 16:23

we, of course, will never be fooled by this! Actually, reading this thread, sounds like we have 'been there done that' so would have to seem like we believe them!

The last time I saw my dad 'tipsy' (when I lived at home anyway), he ended up buying me a leather jacket from a shop in Llandudno! I was paying it off weekly (very weakly!) and he offered to finish paying it off for my birthday - don't think he dared drink since then!

pixiefish · 21/12/2004 22:10

Sorry, Pixie have only just seen this thread thanks to your link on other thread!

All this talk of Broadway Boulevard and the Octagon makes me feel very old!!

Moondog, we spent New Year's week in Nefyn and it was fabulous. That's not far from Groeslon is it?

BTW, I grew up in Rhyl, anyone remember The Bistro?

pixiefish · 22/01/2005 21:57

CQ- where abouts are you now then?

Anyone else in the area?

OP posts:
CelluliteQueen · 25/01/2005 19:48
