City gals go mad in Kent

Well, having had a fab time on the friday meet-up in Champor-Champor, I promised I would drop you all an invite for a meet-up down on't farm, so here it is. If any of you delightful London ladies would like to feel the wind in your hair then set the 15th March in your diary. I have 3 spare double rooms available on a first come basis - all king beds, so doubling up can be done for those who aren't shy. The other alternatives are the hotel in the village which is very civilised and about 10 mins walk away, or blow-up mattresses in the downstairs reception rooms for the really late confirmers. Then there is the shed and the tent and the last train back to London. If any kids come I have a spare set of bunk beds and a couple of readybeds.

In terms of a schedule I am fairly happy to go with the flow. If people want to come for the evening only without kids then disappear back in the morning that works, or alternative is to come over in the afternoon and if child-free you can grab a massage in the local therapy centre. Anyone who wants to make a weekend of it can bring the kids and maybe spend the day on Whitstable beach or - even better - at a place called Farming World which is in my village and has soft play areas and lots of cute little bunnies and lambs and piglets (which all get slaughtered at the end of the season and sold to the likes of me for munching).

Um, that's about it. We're 65 mins from London (Victoria Station), and it takes about an hour to drive from the city if it isn't rush hour.

If anyone wants to come let me know

I don't own one either. I sense a thread about online swimsuit shopping coming on.

Page62 · 28/02/2008 15:57

Squiffy,
I am still in the not confirmed category..... i will either
a) turn up with the whole family DH, DD, and DS but we would be staying at that cottage in whitstable and just meet up somewhere the DCs might be going
b) ask DH to look after DS whilst i go with DD.
c) not go at all (we would have just gotten back from a week's break the week before - hence the need to cajole DH).

My preference is b. But if it b i need to beg somebody for a ride for me and DD - and i know we can't fit in eleusis's car!

Anyone? Anyone?

legalalien · 28/02/2008 16:06

bertieboo kindly offered to give someone a lift further down the thread, and she is v near you (kennington)..... (roll on, option b)

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:07

Page62, where do you live? I will be driving and i only have DD in the car with me. I could come and pick you up?

Page62 · 28/02/2008 16:09

ooh ooh

bertieboo - hello (shy emoticon). My name is Page62 and I am nice. If my DH agrees to have DS all to himself, can me and my DD (4 yrs) hitch a ride?
I live in Clapham - very near Clapham common tube station -- so geographically compatible......

Page62 · 28/02/2008 16:10

Abbeville Road to be precise!

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:12

It would be a pleasure! your DD can entertain mine in the back of the car. (my DD will love that - she loves older children).
I am just down the road so no problem for me to swing by and pick you up on route.

Squiffy · 28/02/2008 16:12

Page62 - Bertieboo is heading down by car from Kennington and I am sure she offered a lift further down the thread, if that helps? (She is V nice and won't bite) - it is just her and her DD (8mth)

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:13

hahaha. meant en route. obviously

Page62 · 28/02/2008 16:15

whohoooo, thanks for that.

Will convince DH now. i love him dearly but he is a bit hopeless sometimes (puts on nappy backwards, uses a whole pack of wipes if it's poo-ey, known to feed DS an apple for lunch, lets him sleep nap on the sofa whilst watching the rugby etc). Am sure he can cope for one night and one day!

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:19

page you can map read. i am hopeless....

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:21

p.s i would come to the clapham common meet up on the 19th April, but i am away.... and squiffy is the only RL'r i have met

Page62 · 28/02/2008 16:25

oh god, i will print out an AA direction thingy.

on a roundabout in kent i once directed DH towards what it thought was cranbook and ended up in a tesco car park.

but i am good at asking directions?

the women in this meet up is the only one i've met in RL - i am so excited at my newfound social life.

legalalien · 28/02/2008 16:29

Having headed down that way (to Port Lympne, which is very good btw), you'd be hard pushed to get lost as far as Canterbury, the question will be exactly how to get to chez Squiffy (squiffy will email you for address and copy in page 62/jura in case you don't have their addresses)
(jura are you still planning to come to this?)

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:41

my DH is absolutely gobsmacked that i have made a friend over the "interweb" and am going to go away for a weekend, to said friends, to meet a few more!

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:42

the power of mumsnet

Page62 · 28/02/2008 16:44

my DH is still pissing himself laughing over the last two mumsnet dinners i had.

bertieboo · 28/02/2008 16:57

Looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing all the stories! And please dont say we have to wear a swimsuitm my body hasnt seen the light of day since i had the baby 8 mths ago.

i couldnt do it to you all....

eleusis · 28/02/2008 17:05

Don't feel bertieboo, I feel the same way. And my "baby" will be 3 in May. I am really milking the baby fat excuse! Can we have a wet t-shirt champagne int the jacuzzi party? I really don't want to scare the fairies with my fat arse in a bathing suit. No to tmention if I'm going to go buy new clothes, I prefer to buy something I won't look dreadful in.

Am I spoil sport????

Page62 · 28/02/2008 17:36

Update:

Girls, i'm in! DH said "no problem, DS and i can hang out at the pub and pick up some girls". hahaha. DS will have much better chances than him.

Bertieboo, grateful for the lift. can i CAT you nearer the time to give you exact address?

eleusis · 28/02/2008 18:08

Yipee!!!!!!

Page62 · 29/02/2008 07:21

i know
am pleased as punch as i'll be there when we start discussing the latest mumsnet fight that eleusis has started.....
hehehehe

bertieboo · 29/02/2008 07:28

yep that's fine Page, glad you are coming along - i will be pleased to have company on the drive down to Kent!

Squiffy · 29/02/2008 09:47

Hoorah!

Bertieboo there is a city lunch next week here which Jura & legalalien are also going to if you want to meet a couple of the others beforehand.

Regarding directions it is dead dead easy - I will Cat all the details to everyone if ok?

would love to join you all for lunch, but we have a couple of guys off the desk on monday and there is no way my arsehole boss will let me sneak away for an hour.
