City gals go mad in Kent

Well, having had a fab time on the friday meet-up in Champor-Champor, I promised I would drop you all an invite for a meet-up down on't farm, so here it is. If any of you delightful London ladies would like to feel the wind in your hair then set the 15th March in your diary. I have 3 spare double rooms available on a first come basis - all king beds, so doubling up can be done for those who aren't shy. The other alternatives are the hotel in the village which is very civilised and about 10 mins walk away, or blow-up mattresses in the downstairs reception rooms for the really late confirmers. Then there is the shed and the tent and the last train back to London. If any kids come I have a spare set of bunk beds and a couple of readybeds.

In terms of a schedule I am fairly happy to go with the flow. If people want to come for the evening only without kids then disappear back in the morning that works, or alternative is to come over in the afternoon and if child-free you can grab a massage in the local therapy centre. Anyone who wants to make a weekend of it can bring the kids and maybe spend the day on Whitstable beach or - even better - at a place called Farming World which is in my village and has soft play areas and lots of cute little bunnies and lambs and piglets (which all get slaughtered at the end of the season and sold to the likes of me for munching).

Um, that's about it. We're 65 mins from London (Victoria Station), and it takes about an hour to drive from the city if it isn't rush hour.

If anyone wants to come let me know

Squiffy, can we have a recap of the plan here? What time does this shin dig begin? And is it still on the 29th March?

And what the Hell does a fat middle aged mum wear in a jacuzzi? I mean I don't want to scare anyone.

eleusis · 11/02/2008 21:31

Hello... Is anybody there????

Page62 · 12/02/2008 15:24

Has squiffy legged it?

Will watch this thread and see if still on, then will scramble to make arrangements for our family to come down that weekend!

eleusis · 12/02/2008 17:02

Do you she is lost in her orchard? Can't find the internet connection?

legalalien · 12/02/2008 17:09

I haven't seen her around since the dream house thread last week. squiffy if you are out there - hope all is OK, worried cause know there is lots of uncertainty in the city right now!

eleusis · 12/02/2008 17:10

dream house thread?

legalalien · 12/02/2008 22:21

errm, yep - involved an interest in real estate, rather than any sort of drug induced delirium. really nice house, near canterbury

eleusis · 13/02/2008 10:48

I e-mailed her and told her she was sorely missed. She is on half term hols. Imagine the nerve running off on hols and not telling us?!

legalalien · 13/02/2008 10:50

outrageous behaviour!

eleusis · 13/02/2008 11:02

Am I still picking you up on the way? What time do you think we should show up?

Oh you poor thing. It must be difficult going on holiday with a nanny and having to teach DS to ski yourself.

I love the pizza and chips explanations though. Too bad he was more of a wwet noodle.

LA, how bout if I collect you around 3:00ish? We still need to work out the pick up spot.

eleusis · 17/02/2008 18:28

Oh no, did I kill the thread?

Squiffy · 18/02/2008 08:58

It has gone deathly quiet hasn't it? Ah well, all the more fizz for us....

OP posts:
eleusis · 18/02/2008 09:32

Ah yes. That is a good point. My H is looking forward to meet yours. And she is positively delighted that she is going to a "grown up" party. Pity she'll be in bed for the highlights.

So, you got any good pics of crossed skies from the holiday?

legalalien · 18/02/2008 09:59

sorry guys - I changed my "threads I'm on" time period from 5 days to 3 days, and it's not working very satisfactorily (keep missing things) so will change back!

Eleusis - very grateful for the lift, and 3pm sounds fine. maybe if you let me know which way you'd expect to go, and I can pick a convenient spot - as per previous, Wimbledon much more convenient to me than kingston, but don't want you to have to go out of your way!!

eleusis · 18/02/2008 15:46

LA, I sent you a CAT. Did you get it?

legalalien · 18/02/2008 15:58

not yet - when did you send it? it's linked to my work email, so bound to be slowish

eleusis · 18/02/2008 16:10

Hours ago, probably around 9am. Just asked you roughly where you live for planning our journey to Squiffy land. I know I'm planning WAY ahead. I do that.

you can e-mail me if you don't want to type it here. You could just give me the general area/town?

legalalien · 18/02/2008 17:16

as you will have gathered, the message turned up eventually! thanks for the text

Page62 · 19/02/2008 13:47

Oh dear.

Not looking good Squiffy, sorry. The weekend before, (easter weekend, i believe), we have booked a catered cottage (my son's bday as well so thought we'd splash out); turns out DH forgot about the splashing out part (just got the invoice today) and a bit reluctant to pay for yet another cottage the following weekend. Soooooooo, family stormont in whitstable is probably out.

I would try and persuade him that i can go with DD but with trains being so awful, don't think it's the greatest idea. And this is so pathetic, but i don't know how to drive so i can't get out of clapham even if there is a car available!

Sooooooo, i think i am now out. BUT in case i persuade DH at the last minute, perhaps we can meet with all of you if you are taking DCs in farm etc etc, but don't want to say confirmed when i am not!

god i do go on don't i? sorry!

Page62 · 19/02/2008 13:48

we are staying in that catered cottage the week before for the whole week (hence the slightly larger bill that DH had forgotten about!). so not being a complete tight fist. hehehe.

legalalien · 19/02/2008 13:58

blow. (FWIW I don't drive either, so less of the "pathetic" stuff!)

eleusis - don't suppose there's any way that three children would fit in the back of your car so that you could take page 62 in my place (in which case I could slum it on the bus!)? Although three children in the back of the car sounds pretty nightmarish......

Page62 · 19/02/2008 14:13

nooooooooooooo

don't put eleusis on the spot! besides, i might slum it on the bus with you and leave eleusis with three kids (she strikes me as VERY maternal)

in reality, i will use my feminine wiles to get us to have another mini-break. Thought my wiles were more effective when i was 2 stone lighter

eleusis · 19/02/2008 14:14

I don't know if 3 car seats will fit across the back. The boot looks comfy and we won't hear a peep from DD back there. (just kidding!)

Is anyone else driving?

Oh I know, Page62 could definitely fit between the car seats. But she'll have to leave her DD with her DH - unless of course he wants to change his mind.
