I really loved meeting everybody on my first MN meet - it was great to put faces to names. I am defo up for another meet up. Don't expect you to do it again though YG as I know what a lot of organising it took.!!

Cinderellascarrieg · 04/12/2004 14:09

I had a lovely time too - thanks again to YG for organising it!

& sorry for legging it so abruptly at the end, but it's a looooong walk back to Huddersfield if I'd missed that train!

ChrisseyMas · 04/12/2004 14:43

dingdotteemerrilyonhigh · 04/12/2004 16:31

What a great night and the meal was lovely. And what a brilliant set of ladies.

Bad news I'm afraid - dp has done what he threatened - but it's temporary - I hope.

Now I know how 'valuable' MN is. I'm not 100% at all .

Hulababy · 04/12/2004 17:08

Who took pictures from our night out? Are we going to post some?

JanH · 04/12/2004 18:35

DD1 and I had a fab time, lovely to meet so many new people but shame we didn't all have time to talk to everybody; thanks again YG for arranging (and introducing us to the legendary carvery!)

I have a couple of pics but not digital, could be many weeks till they are available.

Sorry to hear your news, dottee

And thanks for the B'ham pics, jampot - Ronniebaby, how come you still look so incredibly slim and glam??!!

dingdotteemerrilyonhigh · 04/12/2004 19:22

Thanks Janh. A friend's been round but I'm alone now.

Got to think positive!

Room was really nice and breakfast was yummy! I had peaches and grapefruit, and a croissant. Must do that at home sometime.

So if we're going to do the Toby again, I certainly recommend a stopover if people are able to do it.

I watched a James Brown concert after I got back to my room and this morning I was in 'I feel good' mood which was not going to last for long.

Feel another thread coming on. Maybe later.

Turkiegirl · 04/12/2004 19:48

oh dottee
Bummer, after such a good night as well. Email me... we'll chat....

Roisin · 04/12/2004 20:47

I'm safely back home!

Thanks for organising it YG. It was great to meet you all, and finally put some faces to names. Just a shame we didn't have longer to chat at greater length to more people.

Thanks to Wedgiesmum as well for putting me up and ferrying me around

Turkiegirl · 04/12/2004 20:51

glad you enjoyed it roisin! Will read that book and get it back to you. Just got to the point where Wolf Brother, Tulak, has lost Wolf as he tried to lead the Bear away!

carolHELSInger · 04/12/2004 20:56

YG how do you manage to run a family of 4, post on MN, do housework AND read part of a book only given to you last night?

Turkiegirl · 04/12/2004 21:01

its not the book Roisin gave me last night, its another one we've been discussing, Wolf Brother. Will start Eragon when I've finished that!

Turkiegirl · 04/12/2004 21:02

Housework?? No need to swear! You know how DH loves to clean....

Roisin · 04/12/2004 21:14

I'm about half way through WB - Turak and Renn have just escaped together. ... Generally it's OK, but I'm not captivated by it, and I don't expect it to appeal to ds1.

It reminds me a little of Marcus Sedgwick: The Dark Horse Ds1 has also so far refused to read that too! Some of MS's work is a bit odd (Witch Hill - not recommended for U12s), but this is fantastic. Best children's literature I read last year, brilliantly written, the most amazingly constructed plot, with the most unexpected twist that I have ever read in a "children's book". Have you come across it?

Turkiegirl · 04/12/2004 21:17

I'm a bit ahead of you then roisin. It seems ok so far, not massively enthralling but worth reading to see what happens! Apparently its the first of a trilogy

Roisin · 04/12/2004 21:17

No hurry with Eragon - it's not an exceptional book, other than the fact that it was written by a young boy, (aged 16-20 at the time). It's very derivative (of Tolkein and McCaffrey), but quite entertaining in parts.

Don't post it back to me, I'm sure we'll meet up again at some point. My bro is moving to Shipley or somewhere in that area at some point in the New Year, so I'm sure I'll find an excuse to come over again in the spring!

BigBaublesBogwoppit · 05/12/2004 00:51

MincePieMonster · 05/12/2004 00:58

What a great night! I really enjoyed myself and could have done with another couple of hours with you all! Definitely have to do it again ... thanks again YG.
Dottee, sorry to hear your news

Turkiegirl · 05/12/2004 16:54

I have put the pics I took on my mobile on my photobucket account \link{http://photobucket.com/albums/v454/Yorkiegirl\here} the password is yorkiegirl (all lower case letters). Look in the Mumsnet album! Not the greatest piccies, but hey, they're piccies!

GingerBells · 05/12/2004 20:01

Turkiegirl, shall we wait until someone scans the other pics???

Bet David bailey never had to use a camera phone.....

WedgiesMum · 06/12/2004 21:44

I had a lovely time too, and certainly enjoyed having roisin to stay (as did the kids - they were very unhappy that I came back from the station without you). Would love to do it again, and next time will definitely make the time to speak to more people Smile.

Sad Dottee, hope things get better. You know where I am if you want to chat/let off steam/come over etc etc.

cranberryjampot · 06/12/2004 21:55
