hello ladies. i live just south of reading with dh, a 2 year old daughter and a dog. i want to make a friend!!!!!!!!!!!! (i used to work long hours in london so never had time to go to local antenatal classes when we moved here, consequently i don't know any local mummies. add to that fact that still work full time, tho locally, and i'm not doing well at all!)

xoz · 27/11/2004 21:41

Welcome to our thread lulabel. Do you think you might be able to make it to the meet up or would work be a problem?
I was at the Outlet Village today and it wasn't as mad and busy as i thought it would be.
I hope we'll hear from some more about the 10th soon.....

MamaMaiasaura · 28/11/2004 08:10

My sister lives in swindon with her 3 dd's and it seems a lovely place for kiddies but heard the same about the p's. all dds at school now. seemed to be lots of mum & tots clubs tho - sis used ot run one. All abbey meads area

lulabel · 28/11/2004 15:09

i can't do the 10th i'm afraid. work gets in the way

xoz · 30/11/2004 14:46

That's a shame lulabel!
I'm not going to be a round now until next Tuesday, so will check the thread when we get back, to see whether Friday is happening or not.... Have a good week!!!

Rarrie · 02/12/2004 21:55

Saw there was a Swindon thing going and thought I'd say hello! I've a one year old, and I work almost full time at the mo, but only for a year or so. Rarrie

Hi, bad news for me . I'm going back to work in January (after a year, help) and have been planning a few 'settling in' days before Christmas, starting wc 13th. However, things have gone horribly wrong at work and to cut a (very) long story short I have to work next Friday So I won't be able to make it after all because I started this thread and am now pulling out

OP posts:
xoz · 07/12/2004 15:56

So what's everyone elses stories????
Can anyone else make Friday or do we abandon it???
Hayls I'm really sorry that you can't make it. You've been so keen all along. Do you start work straight after Christmas? Could we squeeze something in in early January???? say w/c 3rd???

MaryChristmas · 07/12/2004 16:03

I think maybe we try again in that case?
Say in the New Year when things settle down?

Hayls · 07/12/2004 19:34

Hello. I start back at work on the 10th. Dd has her settling in days at nursery on the 3rd and 4th but I'm free the rest of that week (or any other week actually apart from Monday and Tuesday from then on) I don't normally work Fridays but it's the only day I can get dh to keep dd this week. Actually, it's just as wel I can't make this week as dd has got an awful chest infection and we've been housebound for days... I an't even surf Mumsnet as she's demanding my constant attention, poor thing
Anyway to stop my ramble, how is everybody else?

OP posts:
xoz · 09/12/2004 22:36

so is anyone going tommorrow or not? I will check in the am as I can't stay online tonight!!!!

MaryChristmas · 09/12/2004 22:46

Not going if no one is going although shopping does sound appealing. I got a stinky cold though and don't want to spread my germ onto you all for xmas.

I definately would like to say hello though at some point, in the New Year.
When the sales are on too.Smile

xoz · 10/12/2004 09:00

okay then we'll try again after Christmas, in early January. It'll have to be before the 11th for me, as that's when I go back to Australia

rubyt · 11/12/2004 14:47

is anyone around on the 23rd December - we are going to do some shopping in Swindon - so if anyone is up for a casual meet - coffee shop in shopping arcade near to ELC 11ish

Hayls · 13/12/2004 10:19

Sorry rubyt I can't make it then, we're going away for Christmas. Thanks for the offer!

So when will we arrange for January? How about the 7th, in the morning? WE can club together and buy xoz a leaving coffee Grin but Sad she's going! Hope you can Mumsnet from Australia!

xoz · 13/12/2004 16:39

rubyt- not sure at this stage if I'll be around (might be going to Glasgow for Christmas), but if I am, I'd love to come. Will keep you updated.

Hayls I'm sure I'll have massive mumsnet withdrawals until our computer arrives on the ship! The only problem is that you'll all be asleep when I'm online Sad. I think the 7th would be okay for me, but will have to let you know closer to the date. It's dd1's birthday that day, but we'll have moved out of our house by then and dh will still be at work, so I'll probably be desperate for things to do to keep the kids happy! McD's for lunch would be a nice treat for them!

Hayls · 14/12/2004 11:08

Hey xoz, I'm going to Glasgow for Christmas as well!

OP posts:
xoz · 14/12/2004 16:01

rubyt - I'mm really sorry but we are going to Glasgow on the 23rd, so I'll not be around. I hope someone can meet you!
hayls- we'll be visiting friends in Glasgow on 23rd and 24th and then spending 25th with other friends who live all the way out in Linlithgow.
Are you flying or driving? We're flying Bristol to Glasgow.

Hayls · 14/12/2004 18:11

I'm flying up with dd on 20th then dh is driving up on the 24th to join us. Have fun!

MaryChristmas · 15/12/2004 10:26
