Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

OK, <deep breath> if I organise it....Is anyone up for a Christmas meet-up in a hotel where we can drink, eat, dance and hear each other. It will require approx. a tenner (non-returnable if you drop out) in advance?

I'm thinking...

Function room in central London hotel (easy for everyone to get to, with rooms at hopefully a good rate, on-site)

Some food, some wine (or whatever) and a DJ.

OK. Point taken.

But a room is just a room, surely?

I'd just like to be able to hear some of the people I want to meet.

Tortington · 16/07/2007 23:38

as i don't know london i can't really help - i have however done some research and posted some suggestions which wern't considered - or were considered to be a poor choice.

I did try to search pub function rooms - and indeed suggested such on the first thread.

i have no particular panchant for sausage rolls btw. i'll be the one hanging around the crisp bowl

Bubble99 · 16/07/2007 23:38

And now you're all laaaaaarfin' at me.

Upstairs in a pub?
How can I twist if my feet stick to the carpet?

Minty - I'd be delighted .....

MintyDixCharrington · 16/07/2007 23:39

can I suggest that if you are going to do london you do WEST and not EAST (ie City) because most civilized people live westerly both IN London and OUTSIDE

CountessDracula · 16/07/2007 23:39

crunchie · 16/07/2007 23:41

custy nonelse listened to you did they. I am totally up for the pub idea, or even small takeover of a whole venue. This way it wouldbe MUCH cheaper. and it would have food, drink and dancing in one place.

I will no come to a 'hotel' function room or tacky soho bar, you all complained last year and now are suggested even worse places

Tortington · 16/07/2007 23:43

the TSP looks good
i like VERY MUCH the idea of a balcony bar.

JoolsToo · 16/07/2007 23:43

you need a duplex

downstairs for dancing
upstairs for talking

JoolsToo · 16/07/2007 23:43

oh yes balcony bras are a must

MintyDixCharrington · 16/07/2007 23:44

oh SHIT CD, I told them NOT to send it to you!

Bubble99 · 16/07/2007 23:44

cruchie.

Yes. A whole venue or upstairs in a pub. Good.

I stood last year having to shout/sign to people I really wanted to talk to last year in a noisy bar and it didn't really feel like a meet-up.

OP posts:
Tortington · 16/07/2007 23:44

i met you.

CD was dancing on the chairs.

MintyDixCharrington · 16/07/2007 23:45

JoolsToo · 16/07/2007 23:46

twisting on me tod

StarryStarryNight · 16/07/2007 23:51

I am getting a little confused with all these different threads for discussing this. It is a little like: does the left hand know what the right hand is doing?

Tortington · 17/07/2007 00:51

rhubarb was there

CountessDracula · 17/07/2007 12:36
