Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

So tell me about MN meet-ups....

What is it like meeting people you know online in RL? Are people like you imagine them to be? Do you wear little badges with your MN name?

no they are the exception, as laydees

And do you wear little badges with your MN names then, Horace, or do you all have them as tattoos on your hairy forearms?

To be fair I didn'know many of the Bournemoouth lot before I met them (except Surfer because we potty trained together).

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that most of this thread is Bournemouth/Poole mums?

I still tend to call Sparkler by her MN name

EasterSparklerEgg · 03/04/2007 13:16

No worries Flamey - I'll answer to anything within reason

Kathy - I would certainly recommend trying a meet up. My first meet up with the Poole and Bournemouth lot was a bit nerve racking. I had only met one of them before and that was very briefly as she bought something from me. I had to walk into a pub looking for a bunch of women that I had no idea of who they were or what they looked like. It was quite strange. I think we must have worked out who each other was by the confused look on my face and me seeing a group of women looking in my direction as I walked in. All that kept going through my head was what do I say when I see them? Saying are you from Mumsnet sounded embarassing and if they weren't there how would I explain myself without sounding stupid?
As it turned out they were a lovely bunch of girls and I have made some good friends and had some fun nights in and out with them.

At least they were there when you arrived!!! My first one I turned up to the meal first... didn't know that I was first and when the poor waitress tried to help me I had to explain that I was meeting a bunch of women I didn't know, and that the table may or may not have been booked under "Merlin"

PMSL Flaesparrow!

Kathy, how come I've not been invited???

I've only done one, and it was lovely but I'm too shy to do it again. But I shall hopefully be doing the Yorkshire Mile for Maude in May, and meeting some lovely mnetters as a bonus

(whereabouts in Yorks are you Kathy? You can try a cryptic clue if you don't want to be too obvious)

Have just seen this thread Kathy...we can always meet in a pub rather than the s'gate centre !!!

I was thinking too that i will be a bit nervous if there is a meet up as it seems a bit strange so good to see im not alone on this!

KathyMCMLXXII · 03/04/2007 14:44

Yes, we could def do a pub. I was thinking Spurriergate Centre because of the children's play area but if the weather warms up and we were somewhere with an outside it would work just as well.

FMV of course you're invited!!! I just hijacked someone else's thread yesterday evening so a York meet-up has not been planned for long.

It shouldn't be too difficult looking for the group of people as I'm assuming a lot of us will have children with us.... not like going up to strange men when you're internet dating......

I live in a village on the A1079 not too far from Pock.
