I've never been to Charlottes, where is it dh would love it, he's like a big kid when it comes to ice cream

Hi Sarah, how're you, W & T?

sarahhal · 20/04/2007 08:28

Morning Phoenix! It's in Whitley - odd place to describe really, but coming from Barnsley you'd come through Flockton ( centre of the universe don't forget )then go straight on at the roundabout by the Blacksmiths Arms pub, turn left after the New Inn pub in Grange Moor, then I'm afraid I just adlib as never quite sure exactly which road to take but it's only a couple more minutes and is signed to Whitley.

Boys both fine. Well, I say fine but W has had his consultant's appt after his EEG and has been diagnosed with "some" form of epilepsy. We know it's very mild, so we are just getting our heads around where to go with medication - I'd be happy for him to start taking something to control it, especially in order to get it right before he starts school next year, but DH is so anti medication! Had a right to do in the consultant's office with DH being a complete prat and us ending up rowing and being told to go home to think about it

Hello Chloe, haven't seen you here for a while! Morning MillieMoo! Ginger, I thought you must live in one of those houses - wondered if you had actually bought THAT one!!

Is anyone else doing the mile for maude? Would be a good chance to catch up?

sarahhal · 20/04/2007 08:28

Turn right after the New Inn pub I meant to say!!!

Chloe55 · 20/04/2007 09:29

I know GM - Problem is my mum suggested this place in Denby Dale as she had been given good opinions on it. Don't get me wrong, nice guy, seems to be good at his job but it was just too expensive for me to continue and after shopping about it seems the prices are all of the same ilk. He did say that my back problems are mainly due to the fact that my stomach muscles still haven't come back together properly after pg and therefore I have no core stability which makes a lot of sense, he gave me some exercises so I have been working on them and am thinking of joining pilates.

SmileyC · 20/04/2007 13:19

Hello.
I hope you don't mind me posting here- I was chatting to Phoenix last night, trying to find people in N. Derbyshire/S.Yorks. She directed me to this thread.

I'm a fulltime mum to DS aged 13months. I'm looking to find some mums who live near my region for meets and online chat etc. I moved up to N. Derbyshire 2.5 years ago (from Herts) but my job involved traveling and so I did not get to make alot of new friends up here, I was also looking for ideas of places I can take DS that are pushchair friendly etc.

Phoenix mentioned that some of you might be meeting next Tues and asked me along. I hope that's ok. I'm not just down the road but I don't mind a bit of a drive and it would give DS a chance to nap! Anyway, I wondered if you have made definate plans for next week (she mentioned Cannon Hall)and whether you have a fall-back plan if the weather is bad? Please say so if you would rather not meet til you feel you know me better, I won't take offence

Oh and I gather there are some more southerners in the group? Phoenix said I'd fit right in!

Hope to talk to you all soon. Please let me me a bit about yourselves.

sarahhal · 20/04/2007 16:19

Hello Smiley! Have a good meet if you make it - I'm working full time at the moment so no fun playing out for me!

Have just got back from an afternoon at the mining museum - we didn't go in as the LOs too young, but there's an ok playground, a nature trail and loads of space to run around. And it's FREE!!!

Chloe55 · 20/04/2007 16:50

Hi Smiley,

I have a 14mth old ds and am on the post-natal with phoenixgirl.

I think me and PG are def up for meeting at Cannon Hall on Tues - shall we say 12pm? Does that give you enough time to get up here? Does it suit your aswell PG?

I have PG number if the weather is crap so we can rearrange a different place, if you want to CAT me Smiley then we can swop mobiles aswell (if you are comfortable with that) just so we cna get in touch if there are any plan changes.

To CAT you will need to go to the top of the page (along the blue line) and right at the end it gives you the option to contact a mumsnetter. Sorry if you already knew how to do this

Chloe55 · 20/04/2007 16:51

Oh actually PG I don't have your number anymore since I changed phones - can you text it to me please.

Gingermonkey · 20/04/2007 17:16

chloefor core stability try lying on your back, knees bent so legs are paralell (sp? sarah - pls help my awful spelling!) to floor, arms by you side and lift up so the base of your spine is just off the floor (not a full sit up) and hold for 10, rest for 5, repeat etc etc. If I can make it tues I'll show you (wherever we are, I'm not arsed about looking like a tit! ) It's really good for core stability and will also help give you a flat tummy (not that I'm saying you don't have one, but to maintain a flat tummy, phew got out of that!). My miserable friend from thailand still hasn't decided what she's doing so I think I'll just tell her I'll see her later in the week!
Phoenix, yes I would like your MSN also, that would be lovely. I need your phone number too coz I don't have that, so I will get it on tues.
smiley, welcome! I'm another southerner, and so is sausage (where is she?). I'm from suffolk and sausage is from London. Her whole family were up at the weekend, it was ever so nice to hear some familar accents!
What shall we do if the weather is crap? Leapfrogs? I think it's a bit crap today and I am a little bit cold TBH. Oh, oh, oh, I got a new bag yesterday Phoenix!!!!!
Right, who else is there I haven't said hello to? sarah, how are you? Looking forward to being back at work? millie are you working tues?

SmileyC · 20/04/2007 19:21

Thanks for all your friendly hellos! And hello back!

I think Tuesday is looking good and will CAT Chloe or PG in a min. The only prob is that I don't know your area at all. I will be able to get to Cannon Hall ok but if the venue changes at short notice I won't have a detailed map or anything so will need some help . I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it?

Do you tend to post over the weekend? The other site I use goes quiet at weekends/eves since most people tend to post from work.

I'll keep checking back anyway to see what's what and if Tues is definate.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
By the way, where in the country do you all live? And what jobs do you do? Hope I'm not too nosey!

SmileyC · 20/04/2007 19:28

Meant to ask Gingermonkey- do you know alot about pilates or something? I just wondered with all this talk about core stability!

I need to get fit. Are you all really fit and healthy then? I'm afraid I piled on a fair bit extra AFTER ds was born. All that BF made me eat and eat and i'm a bit up and down as far as regular exercise is concerned. I need to get back at it . I'm not really overweight, just need to trim down and tone up. Having said that, I bet you'll all be size zeros and make me look like a hippo!

PhoenixGirl · 20/04/2007 19:37

If it makes it easier my email addy is [email protected]

Chloe - just texted you.

12 fine by me but i'll need to feed Lewis there cos that's his lunch time.

PhoenixGirl · 20/04/2007 19:44

Ginger thats my msn too if u want it

An expensive bag i presume????

Gingermonkey · 20/04/2007 21:18

smiley, no I don't do pilates but I do have a personal trainer and have been working on core stability because I get a bad back too. Before that puts you off meeting me, I haven't been to see her for weeks and she is getting very annoyed with me because I am so lazy and can't be arsed to exercise . Dh is a bit of a fitness freak but I am a couch potato TBH. He is making me go swimming with him 2x a week from next week because I keep moaning about feeling squishy. Oh dear, I am sounding like a gym body now and feel quite silly. I'm not, I'll prove it - just watch me eat, bet I can eat you all under the table . I put on loads of weight with DD and it took me 4 years to shift it, with DS I went to the gym once a week and tried to eat sensibly so I was lucky and didn't really put on any weight. I am quite slim naturally but I'm tall too so that helps . I live in Midgley which is near West Bretton (where the Sculpture Park is), jct 38 or 39 off the M1, have a dd who'll be 8 in aug and a ds who's 18mths. I post over the weekend but am in london tomorrow so I'll be quiet as a mouse .
phoenix, yes another one to add to the collection - just watched desperate housewives that I'd taped from weds, I am Gabby . My worst nightmare is the water tank bursting onto my beautiful things, ha ha ha ha ha. Speak to you sunday, night night x

MillieMooMoo · 20/04/2007 22:36

GingerMonkey - Yep, I work Tuesdays boo hoooo
Hope you all have a lovely time, I WILL make one of your meets and meet you and your lovely little ones one day. I have to find a husband for my dd

Chloe55 · 21/04/2007 09:27

Thanks for the core exercises GM, I soooo hope you can come on Tues just so we can make you do them in the middle of the green and then we can all point and laugh

Smiley - I live in Clayton West (near Midgely) and I'm a vet nurse. Ds is my first child and is being a little monkey at the moment He has def hit 'The Terrible Twos' early!! Don't worry about plan changes, we will be on hand to talk you through to wherever you need to go. lets hope the weather's nice though - really fancy a day outside.

Chloe55 · 21/04/2007 09:27

Oh and I wish I had a flat stomach!!

PhoenixGirl · 21/04/2007 14:05

Smiley - wherever we end up we could find you a postcode for it and you could do a route planner.

SmileyC · 21/04/2007 20:37

Hi again

Sorry I did not get to CAT yesterday- PG, I have emailed you instead, thanks for posting your address.

Milliemoomoo- Sorry you will be working.

Chloe- Terrible two's???? Oh poor you. I hope I have a little time before ds gets to that stage.....

Gingermonkey-Thanks for the reassurance about your fitness levels! I will prob need to feed ds when we arrive too. He's feed time is not fixed but I expect he will sleep on the drive up and so will expect food afterwards

Thanks for offering to navigate me round etc. If you have a plan a and plan b venue then I can just sort directions out beforehand, say on Monday night. My only worry was that I don't have sat nav or hands free so it's easier if I have a semi plan before I leave home.

Better go- din dins is ready! ( I remember when we were child-free, eating at a civilised time! It's getting on for 9pm!!!!!)

TTFN

PhoenixGirl · 21/04/2007 20:46

Chloe's ds is 3 days younger than mine (nearly 15 month) so not quite terrible 2's.

We'll try to come up with an indoor place tomorrow between us. It may be Leapfrogs in Skelmanthorpe its a nice little soft play place. We've all met there before. I think i got the address on yell.com.

PhoenixGirl · 21/04/2007 20:52

I found it for you

Leap Frogs Ltd
Unit 37, Skelmanthorpe Business Park,Elm St, Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD8 9EA

SmileyC · 21/04/2007 21:21

Who is coming? Is is PG, Gingermonkey and possibly Chloe???? And me !

Need to go snuggle in with DH now. Too late for a film, yet again! Will maybe catch up on some of our DVD series....

Will try to get on tomorrow.

Chloe55 · 22/04/2007 15:42

I'm coming - Leapfrogs is fine with me if the weather is crap. I am about to kill ds, have been to Matalan and Asda and he has stropped and screamed for about an hour!!! I am not ever leaving this house again!

SmileyC · 22/04/2007 15:54

Chloe-poor you! Has he stopped yet? You will have to leave the house Tuesday if we are all meeting up!
Right, back to my tiling.

Gingermonkey · 22/04/2007 16:01

I'm a bit about missing a meet up but I'm really excited about seeing her! I'll have to show you my core stability exercises soon chloe!!!! Wanted to meet you too smiley, but we'll meet up in the next couple of weeks
