Pasty lover, mine are 4 and a 1/2 and nearly 3. DS goes to school part time. Whereabouts near Falmouth are you from?

Pastylover · 19/09/2007 19:40

So our LO's are nearly the same age then Sunshine girl. I live in Mawnan Smith, whereabouts are you?

So have I missed any meetups already?

sunshinegirl · 19/09/2007 20:07

Hi PL, I'm in Stithians. Would love to meet up, I'm sure our LO's would get on really well being same age. DD is 3 in Dec.

Don't think there have been any meetups so far, there was talk of it earlier this year but didn't get round to it, we were finding it hard to come up with a suitable time/place for everyone. If you fancy meeting please mail me ohsmellyjellyatgooglemaildotcom

Pastylover · 20/09/2007 14:09

My DD is 3 at the end of October, so they are pretty much the same age!

I will email you so we can talk further about possibly meeting up! Is there no private message system on this website?

Wisteria · 20/09/2007 14:16

Sorry to hijack this thread. There's a poss. that DH will be working in Cornwall soon - has a choice of E.Cornwall or W. Cornwall. Wondered if anyone could fill me in with recommendations on where to live. I've only been to Cornwall as a tourist so wonder what living there 'properly' would be like. Also areas- Launceston is a poss. base for him - he'll be co8nty wide - either east or west. W. Cornwal base is Cambourne but I wondered about Truro - is it far from Cambourne. We'd also have a budget of up to a max of £240000. I know Cornwall is really pricey. We're in the v. cheap E. Midlands at the mo. We've got 4 children and I'm wondering if all we'll get is a teeny house somewhere! Any advice would be so welcome. It feels like a massive move given our families are in Staffordshire and E. Sussex.

scorpio1 · 23/11/2007 12:13

Takes about 15 mins to get from Camborne to Truro, rush hour a bit longer.

(I live 30 mins from Truro)

Hi,

Sorry to bump a thread this old but.....
wondered if anyone could help me out..

My mum, who is an absolutely wonderful (young 67 year old) woman who lives in Falmouth, is desperately in need of some socializing or company. Dad died recently (in June) & I have tried everything to help her get out & about & make some well needed friends, however unfortunately I live in Gloucester, so its not exactly easy ! She has only lived there 3 years & retired there because dad was from Falmouth, but now he's passed away she hasn't really got any friends.

So far she has tried volunteering in a charity shop, but they stuck her in a back steam room alone all day ! I have contacted the Cornish social group twice but got no reply & 'singlestrollers' as she loves to walk, (especially with her dog) along the coast, have coffee's, lunches, glass or three of red wine & foriegn foods, but they said because she didn't drive, she couldn't get to meeting places....no suggestion of getting anyone else in Falmouth to car/petrol share with her, they just wouldn't help.

I am just getting a little concerned about her now as she's getting quite isolated & lonely with winter coming in things can only get worse.....so my question is can anyone there come up with any suggestions for me ? have thought about something with kids as she is great with my 3 who are 16, 2½ & 1½, but really don't know where to start ???

Thanks
