Hi I have a ds aged 4 and a half, and have moved to Merstham near Redhill, a few months ago. It would be really nice to email and maybe meet up with other mumsnetters nearby, if there are any! If anyone is interested please get in touch, take care.

Hello All! I am planning on moving to Reigate soon (fingers-crossed!) and don't know a soul there. So I thought I would write to say hello and see if anybody knows of activities for kids in the area. DS1 is 2 and DS2 is 7 months old. Also, I would love to join the next meet-up if that's alright.

Snowbell · 16/03/2005 14:12

hi Fatbetty (great name!). I live in Reigate/Redhill and there are loads of things to do with young kids. Jo Jingles and Tumble Tots classes are everywhere, plus loads of toddler groups. The local park has a great playground. The local leisure centre, Donyngs, has a soft play session that's always on, except for afternoons at the weekend, plus a swimming pool.

You are very welcome to come to a meet-up. When do you move?

fatbetty · 16/03/2005 14:22

We are hoping to move at the beginning of May! The sellers want to move fairly quickly and hopefully everything will go smoothly. We already lost one house as our chain collapsed so I'm trying to stay open minded about the whole thing. It's all so stressful!

So glad to hear that there are loads of kids activities going on in the area. At least that takes a load off my mind.

dawnie1 · 16/03/2005 16:59

OMG - just checked out this thread and I had totally forgotten about the meet up last Saturday . My PC has been broken for the last month or so and I only got it back today so I have only been logging in very infrequently when I could 'borrow' someone elses PC.

I had 26th Feb in my diary but must've forgotten to put in 12th March. - SORRY !!!! I hope you had a good time.

funnytype · 16/03/2005 17:49

Welcome Fatbetty, where are you moving from? Dawnie, wondered what happened to you, glad to see you back! Check your diaries for next month for an evening meet up and will have to do a daytime meet up too.

Hi there! I'm moving from Chislehurst in Kent. It's been really difficult to get my head around the whole moving thing as this is our "first house" and we've been through hell and back with this house and we've finally got it to where we love it. But we need more room and a garden, plus my DH works near Heathrow and hates the commute (which he has been doing forever!). I been getting a bit down about moving and thought it would be good to chat to some people in the area and possibly meet up. I hope I'm not tempting fate!

funnytype · 17/03/2005 07:52

I know it is sad when you leave your first house as I expect it was very special for the both of you. Good luck with the move and look forward to meeting you soon.

Thanks for that. I'm sure once we get everything of ours out of the house it won't feel like ours anymore....if you know what I mean. Just trying to stay positive.

funnytype · 23/03/2005 07:48

Congratulations funnytype on baby number 2! How are you feeling? Experiencing any morning sickness. Mine was terrible with baby2. Good luck with your scan!

Things are going well with our future house. We are hoping to move by mid-May, if not sooner. We had our survey done yesterday and the surveyor was questioning the location and if it was an okay area. Just wondering if anybody has heard of negative things about the area around the Reigate Garden Centre. Please be honest!!!

brambles · 24/03/2005 15:35

reigate is a lovely area havent heard any bads things about it at all.

the park is my favourite we are always there in the summer the schools are good my brothers go there (somewhere) not sure of the name.

Thanks for the info on the area. I think we are going to spend the day walking around Reigate and the parks this weekend. Both dh and I love the area. Only have a few little twinges of doubt from the surveyor - but after he did his survey him seemed more positive.

Have a good Easter!

geogteach · 25/03/2005 19:21

I'm in this area too, my kids are 4, 21 months and 5 months. I was also bought up round here so ask away!

fatbetty · 25/03/2005 21:36

How are the schools/nurseries in Reigate? I've checked some of the OFSTED reports, but they pretty much all say the same thing. Any recommendations? My oldest is only 2, but should start thinking of nurseries.

geogteach · 26/03/2005 21:22

Are you looking for day care or pre school, for what its worth mine go to Brantwood nursery in Reigate and St Joseph's pre school in Redhill

fatbetty · 26/03/2005 22:03

Looking more at preschools starting when he is 3. I know sometimes you have to start looking several months in advance in order to get a place.

brambles · 27/03/2005 10:42

snowbell

where have you disappeared to?

shall we arrange a meet up ladies?

sats are good for me

Snowbell · 27/03/2005 12:52

hi Brambles, I've just not had much time on the 'puter recently. Yes, we could arrange another Saturday night meet up soon. I think just about any Saturday will do me. What about everyone else?

Fatbetty, I haven't heard anything bad about the area around the garden centre. You do have good schools near there. There is Dovers Green infant school, which we have visited and is very good. there is also Sandcross junior school which is supposed to be very good. Dovers green school also has a nursery/playgroup (whatever it calls itself) attached, though it is run separately from the school. There are also loads of other playgroups in the area. We are spoilt for choice really. Like you say, you do have to book well in advance though.

funnytype · 01/04/2005 13:55

Good afternoon girls. Hope you are all well.

I am up for an evening meet up, how about Sats the 16th and the 23rd?

Have a good weekend.
