happy to go anywhere as long as not too expensive

xoxo · 27/01/2007 16:42

Fat Boys Thai, right beside Richmond Bridge is big enough for a gaggle of loud women
Thai Pin is quite small and , from recollection, we are quite noisey. especially if lots to celebrate

foxabout2pop · 27/01/2007 18:35

Hey Oxo now you're talking!! This Fat Girl likes the sound of Fat Boys. Is it cheap?

MrsBigD · 27/01/2007 21:41

Foxie... you're ot fat you're pregnant what excuse do I have for scoffing down chocolates by the tonne lately, besides being a bit tense re moving

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 07:57

MrsD - do we need an excuse for eating chocolate, other than its nice? I say this, while eating M&S dark Swiss Chocolate for my breakfast

Seriously, I was a size 10 before I had kids and am 16 now There is a thin person hiding inside this voluptuous body!!

MrsBigD · 28/01/2007 08:42

LOL I don't think I ever was a size 10! . We did the hight of decadence last night, watching Biggest Looser and Extreme Makeover (I know sad) whilst scoffing down Leonidas chocolates

DH and I scoffed an apple and cream turnover last night (our mutal weakness).

I can't make this meet up as flying off to HK the next day and will be desperately packing and squeezing everything into (too small) suitcases.

As a suggestion, how about the Thai Elephant which is by Richmond bus station? Its pretty reasonable and large enough to accommodate everyone.

Have a great time wherever you end up!

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 09:27

Snow - what's HK?

I did Thai Elephant once with some school Mums and we thought it a bit overpriced TBH...

They did have big table though

I'd quite like to try Fat Boys, as Paddle highly recommends it?

quokka · 28/01/2007 09:30

Hong Kong foxy

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 09:31

Foxie, wish I was a jetsetter! Nope, just off to visit my folks for chinese new year. It sounds more exciting than it is. Imagine an endless round of eldery relatives all asking impertinent questions! On the upside there will be loads of yummy food and cheap shopping!

Haven't been to Thai Elephant for ages. I just remember their volcano chicken dish - they bring a whole cooked chicken to the table, pour something alcoholic over it and set it alight!

lemonaid · 28/01/2007 19:13

Just to mention that 10 Feb is the day of the England-Italy match in Twickenham, so there may be truble with (a) large parties trying to find somewhere to eat in that general area, and (b) transport links.

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 20:42

Lemonaid - oh thanks for that - perhaps we'd better not do St Mags??????

BTW suejonez was looking for you on the main west London meet up thread...

xoxo · 28/01/2007 21:22

As a local I can confirm taht actually teh rugby isn't as bad as you'd think - esp if you book beforehand.
Fat Boys isn't expensive, though obviously if you choose king prawns with everything it will be.

If people are happy I can book it for say 10 people and wing it?

quokka · 29/01/2007 08:51

thai food always makes me feel homesick for Oz. I love it though, but I did have a good laugh the first time I saw "King Prawns" over here, they're tiny !

Paddlechick666 · 29/01/2007 08:55

it's funny that Thai, Indian, Chinese food can differ so much around the world.

I think they're all rubbish in the US.

I prefer Thai in Australia but still love it here.

Australian Chinese and Indian just don't cut it tho!

stop laughing at our prawns quokka, it's cruel!

foxabout2pop · 29/01/2007 09:13

Yes stop laughing at our Prawns - though I agree, size does matter!

Oxo - Oh yes please, do book Fat Boys for 10 Feb!!! I think it'll be fine too. I'll just allow a little extra time to get there. Could you book for 7pm?

Anyone want a lift from Kew to Fat Boys and back later?

uwila · 29/01/2007 10:39

LOL Quokka. I had the same observation coming from the US. I always tell my compatriots to expect shrimp when ordering prawns. Size does matter, oh yes it does.

Paddlechick666 · 29/01/2007 10:43

just ask for KING prawns and expect to get a portion of 3 if you're lucky!!!!

note to self: get prawns out of freezer for tonight's dinner.

already put bubbly in fridge so i've got my priorities right ok!

uwila · 29/01/2007 11:09

And where are you referring to Paddle?

Paddlechick666 · 29/01/2007 11:36

any kind of bistro/pub type restaurant who fob you off with stingy portions!

actually, that could read: any UK restaurant!
