Hi, i was wonderin if anyone hails from teesside? i'm in Middlesbrough and I've been floating around mn for a while now. I don't post an awful lot but i like reading all the other posts like the most glorious kind of perv! i thought it was about time i overcame my bizarre internet shyness and introduced myself. I am studying science ft at uni and i have two cute but exhausting dcs. ds is 3.5 and dd 18 months. oh, and i am 24 and married.

Hi Gemmie! I work in boro but don't live there. There are some others, will try to find the thread for you. I have twin DDs who were 3 in Dec.

northerner · 18/01/2007 20:33

I just wanted to say Hi!!! I'm from REdcar originally and used to work in Middlesbrough. My family are all still in that area.

bumbleweed · 19/01/2007 19:16

I am in Stockton and work in Mbro - there have been other teesside threads on here so I know there are other middlesbrough people on here

gemmiegoatlegs · 19/01/2007 21:29

Thanks for replying, all of you. it always seems like everyone else lives in the City (sigh)
Are you from Stockton Bumbleweed? My family lived there when i was a teen, though I don't have much cause to go there these days. I always think it looks much improved when I'm passing. Is it nicer than it used to be?

Middlesbrough has gone so far down the pan recently. It seems such a shame for a town with such good access to coast, country and cities. You'd think we had it all, eh?

just wanted to say hello tho suffering to live in Surrey was born & brought up in Eaglescliffe (part of Stockton but next to Yarm IYSWIM) I do miss the North, all the friendly people and the shorter rush hours!

Catbabymummy · 20/01/2007 13:21

Hi Just found this thread. Recently moved to Thornaby, though I work in Sunderland and dh works in York.
No kids as yet. working on it

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 13:25

I'm in Middlesbrough! Also work full time (just waking up off nights!) and have 3 dc 4, 3 and 7 months. There is at least two other Middlesbrough MNetters, yellowfeathers I believe is from Northallerton and I can't remember the name of the MNetter from the boro - doh! I'll see if I can find it. BTW was brought up in Redcar and I'm loving living in Middlesbrough!

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 13:30

found it, strawberry moon and I think full moon fiend.

kiskidee · 20/01/2007 13:35

i also work in Sunderland Catbabymummy. I live halfway between Sunderland and Hartlepool.

gemmiegoatlegs · 20/01/2007 20:52

so do you think the North is really friendlier than the south buffysmum? I haven't really found that on my (albeit limited) travels.
Wow 3DDonut - 3 kids under 4 years old and night shifts too! you're a braver woman than I!
What do you do r0ound Middlesbrough with your kids? We live fairly centrally (not as far up as the bit they are knocking down...sorry 'Regenerating') I like being handy for uni and the shops but I would really like to move further out when i've graduated and have some more room for the kids and maybe a garden. Whereabouts do you live>?

We're in Linthorpe and I LOVE it, it's a great place to be, very friendly, little village and the shops on Roman rd, big shout out to Ron's aka 'the veggie table' lovely houses, only thing is there's not much green around, unless you're toward Albert Park which is a lovely park, we're a bit far from walking distance for the kids, have to drive, the Dorman's museum is great, free and loads to entertain the kids, I can honestly say that Linthorpe is the best place I've lived, and I can't see me going anywhere for a good while, got my roots firmly down.

As for the work and kids thing, if I had a choice I wouldn't but I don't so I do! Anyway, I think nights is better than the 3 12 hour shifts that would replace them, at least I get to take the kids to school and put them to bed instead of being out from before they get up to after they've gone to bed. Needs must! What are you studying? Or do you work at the Uni?

gemmiegoatlegs · 20/01/2007 21:55

I grew up in Linthorpe. Just near Chipchase Rd. We really want to move up ther too as still pretty central but so much nicer than where we are at the mo. I go to the Veggie Table too for my soya mince! Is your ds1 at school? Where does he go?

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:18

Come back to Linthorpe you know you want to! We're kind of in 'Whinny-thorpe' so almost out of it!

Gingerbear · 20/01/2007 22:22

Hello, I was at Teesside Uni when it was a Polytechnic!! I have fond memories of living in Middlesborough, and bracing weekend walks at Saltburn.
I did my Industrial Placement at BASF on Seal Sands (any more news about the fire?)
A few years later I lived in Stockton and worked at Tioxide.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/01/2007 22:25

hiya..yes its me thats in middlesbrough too..other side of albert park in longlands

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/01/2007 22:25

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:28

well hello strawberry snowflakes, were your ears burning? I was just wondering how to get in touch with you... I may have been MammyM last time we talked, that was before I spit my dummy out and deleted myself! anyway....

gingerbear, fire? Which one? The big BASF one was years ago....?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/01/2007 22:29

ahh, was wondering how you knew me..how have you been?..i almost madhandled a woman at soft play after we talked cos she kept smilling at me and i was sure it was you!!

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:31

Sorry! and hehehehehe!!! ds is at nursery now, so probably won't get to that session until dd is a bit older (she's not crawling yet) what time is it on again?

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:32

And I would know you by sight because.....

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/01/2007 22:32

12-2 mon and wed, which one did you put her in?was it you that was looking at great expectations??..ill have to force myself to go soon cos wind/rain/snow are not my cup of tea

Gingerbear · 20/01/2007 22:33

not a fire - a leak, though some operators were burned

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/01/2007 22:33

because???....

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:36

No dd is not at nursery ds is at school nursery, could possibly make it late on the Wed session but just started gym babes on a Mon at that time for dd (7 months) I meant how would I recognise you by sight alone? Do you have a Mumsnet glow?! hehehehe!

3Ddonut · 20/01/2007 22:38

Gingerbear, did hear about this but not much info at the time, haven't heard anything since, tbh, leaks are not unusual (though not common either) that big fire about 10 years ago was horrific though.
