Roll up, roll up!

Hello! This is Sticky, with a new name (still have a finger theme going on, analyse that...)

So it's nearly Christmas!! Well it's not, but it's always good to get cocktails and curry in the diary Grin

I am going to be awkward and ask could we make it after 10th December? I hope that's not too far into the holiday/party season for those people who have places to go... just the next month is going to be tricky for me.

Do people prefer week nights or weekend nights?

Let's get this party started

I am an old bat of 52...you lot aren't all lithe, fresh faced 25 yr olds are you???????

spiggidydodah · 03/12/2015 19:56

25? I can't even remember being 25.

Fresh faced?

Lithe? I was when I was 25. There's been a lot of chocolate since then...

FingerOFudge · 03/12/2015 20:39

That describes me to a T Gatekeeper

Well after a couple of cocktails anyway.... Xmas Grin We'll all look wonderful then!

(I typed "a few" first... then realised there is no way on this earth I could drink a few cocktails without falling asleep under the table. And snoring. So I wrote "a couple". When what I actually mean is "half".)

juneybean · 04/12/2015 10:54

I'm 30 definitely not lithe.

Gatekeeper · 04/12/2015 14:00

If you are all dead young I will forget where I am and try and cut up your meat!

FingerOFudge · 04/12/2015 17:41

that could come in handy after a few cocktails Xmas Wink

I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting you all!

IAmAPaleontologist · 07/12/2015 14:18

I'm 22.

Or at least that's what a lovely, lovely woman I cared for the other week thought. I almost kissed her Grin.

I am certainly not fresh faced or lithe and I am not 22.

A week to go!

Gatekeeper · 07/12/2015 16:11

how will we know each other??

IAmAPaleontologist · 07/12/2015 18:04

Hmm that is true, we have a few newbies to meet ups coming don't we! Although generally you can tell that we are mothers who've been let out for the night just by looking at us......

spiggidydodah · 07/12/2015 19:08

True, we do all have that "shellshocked by being out after tea time" look. Has juney still got her mn tsarina card for us to display?

Did we agree on ebony to meet first? We usually nab a table outside while muttering about not being able to hear yourself think inside because the music is too loud

juneybean · 07/12/2015 22:14

I still have my mumsnet card haha I will try and display it. What time is the meal?

FingerOFudge · 07/12/2015 23:10

The Capital is booked for 8PM

Yes to Ebony first... 7pm?

How we will recognise each other.... I remember one year we all came carrying packets of biscuits Xmas Grin Maybe if I tell you I'll be wearing a purple dress (that looks a bit like the wallpaper of an Indian restaurant, rather aptly). It's my best purple party dress! And will look unaccustomed to being out.

Gatekeeper · 08/12/2015 08:44

well I will be the baggy eyed jowley middle age wifie with hair like a hedge and wearing gravy stained top (not kidding... much) Wink

Gatekeeper · 08/12/2015 08:45

awww...don't all point at me when I come in saying "there she is" using the above description!!

IAmAPaleontologist · 09/12/2015 20:45

Looking forward to Monday!

myrtleWilson · 09/12/2015 20:52

Hello! How often do you have these meet ups and can newbies come along?or do I need a special handshake? Am currently in Gateshead but moving Durham way (fingers crossed mortgage people) and may build up the courage to join the next one.....possibly unless I get spooked!

IAmAPaleontologist · 10/12/2015 16:45

Of course newbies can come! Hell come on Monday!

As for how often, it kind of depends on when we get round to it and how busy we are. But that may change if the various newbies decide they like us and are more organised. Those of us who have been meeting for several years have managed to get stupidly busy and meet ups have waned a bit but we are always happy to eat cake, drink cocktails and generally have fun. Sometimes we even meet with children, generally somewhere we can unleash them, trust the bigger ones to look after them and pretty much ignore them while we drink coffee and eat cake.

Chillyegg · 10/12/2015 16:51

Hi al i know I'm pretty late in the game but could we also arrange something for the new year? In in Middlesbrough and stuff wouldn't like to crash Monday but would be than happy to be so bold aa ro organise a own thing for the new year .

FingerOFudge · 11/12/2015 17:04

Hi I'm just about to send messages to people to remind them about Monday... it's possible not all will be able to come, and in any case, it's a curry restaurant... I'm sure they can squeeze in a couple more! So do come, we are ever so nice and it would be lovely to meet more people.

G'wan!

bigsnugglebunny · 11/12/2015 19:08

I've just replied to you - I can't come this time, purely down to the logistics of getting from the wilds of Northumberland to Durham and back in one night!

Next time though, I'll book a well-deserved b & b Xmas Grin

Dowser · 12/12/2015 18:58

Let me know about the next one then. Monday is the night of my one and one Christmas do!

LeggyBlondeNE · 14/12/2015 10:22

Woohoo! I have NOT lost DH's passport, I don't need to run around getting things signed tonight and I CAN come out! Plus I finally got my MN password sorted out so I'm back online! Is there still room fro me tonight?

spiggidydodah · 14/12/2015 10:35

I'm sure we'll be able to squash up for you leggy!

I forgot this was tonight Shock.

Can't decide whether to drive or catch the bus. Bus means I can have a drink but it is a long journey back on a cold bus.

I'm also supposed to be writing a paper but can't summon up any enthusiasm for the topic so am being distracted by the smallest thing. Time for another cuppa...

IAmAPaleontologist · 14/12/2015 14:37

Hurrah! Glad you can make it Leggy.
