Glasgow meet-up - November or December 2006

Thought I'd start at thread as Harrisey said she wanted someone to organise a Glasgow meet-up - and LieselvonTrapp said she wanted to meet me .

How about suggesting a few weekends in November and then seeing what interest there is. Princes Square (Buzzy Wares) has been fairly successful as a venue - relatively central and the kids can run around and have a good time.

So, how about 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 or 26 November?

Me - I can make all of those dates at the moment - although dh and I are currently trying to work out a weekend away to Paris, using his BA miles. If it's a Sunday I would be there without ds (6), as he has rugby.

I'm on holiday at the moment (this week and next) - hence the wee bit of time to come on and have a look - but it does mean that it might be a wee while before I come back and have a look. And I'm also rushed off my feet at work at the moment, so won't have time to keep bumping this once I'm back at work, so if there is interest, I iwll need help from the rest of the Scottish/Glasgow mumsnetters in co-ordinating the arrangements.

so who's all in for the 26th then?

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:07

i would love to get to a meet up but can't make this one. i live in falkirk and am quite new to mn (just been lurking for a while!) so hopefully when another one comes up i can join in.
have a great time those of you who make it!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/11/2006 19:09

ooh another Falkirkian! Me too bobobobs!

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:12

i am really an adopted falkirkian (cool word!) as i have only lived here for 6 years but hey, both my ds and dd were born here, and my ds has bright red hair so i think i can call myself an honorary scot!
are you born and bred here? maybe i know you in RL!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/11/2006 19:14

i'm not from here either...
how old are your LOs?

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:15

ds is 4, dd is 3. how about you?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/11/2006 19:33

ds is 14 months. so unlikely that we know each other!
I;ve been here for about 5 yrs. and am only now meeting people. Mostly women with babies!

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:44

it is difficult isn't it? but it gets easier as you go along. if ever you fancy a chat and a cuppa, i'm a sahm and often around for soft paly sessions etc.
are they any other falkirk bairns that you know of on here?

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:45

"soft paly" sounds a bit weird, i meant "play"
of course!!

doggiesayswoof · 16/11/2006 19:52

I'm in glasgow and would be up for it - looks like this one has maybe died a death though? I couldn't do 26th nov (visiting family in Aberdeen) but would be keen another time.

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 19:59

oops, sorry did i kill it? i got sidetracked chatting to purplemonkey!
would defo be up for a meet up if i can make the date.

Perigrine · 16/11/2006 20:27

I will try for this!!
(used to be Kalex)

Where and when

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/11/2006 09:01

Sorry Bobs, DS and DH were finished theor bath so 'mommy time' was over!
I think there are a few bairns on here but i don;t know any in RL.
I'm always torn about meet ups. I'd like to go along and meet new poeple but Im horrible at small talk! i think that's why it was so easy to make friends with other mom's of babies - you have your basic 'how is he sleeping/eating etc' convos.

sweetkitty · 19/11/2006 15:59

I can't make it now not working but DP's sister has offered to babysit so DP and I can go and see the new Bond movie at the pictures. Since we only have babysitters about twice a year we've had to jump at the chance (I'm not kidding either).

Can we have another meet up in Feb/March then?

sammac · 19/11/2006 16:13

I'm watching with interest, will try to come along.

Sorry, just realised it's next Sunday, ds has a party at 2, so can't make it. Will keep an eye out for the next one.

gomez · 22/11/2006 14:10

Yeah or Nay for this weekend?

Or has another Scottish Meet-Up bit the dust....
We really are crap at this aren't we

purplemonkeydishwasher · 23/11/2006 19:59

i'm out for this one i'm afraid. next one though!!

bobobobs · 23/11/2006 22:01

me too.

prettybird · 24/11/2006 10:46

...yup. looks like it has bit the dust.

But Gomez - we have managed three this year - the Falkirk evening meet-up, the Edinburgh one (where I met you for the first time) and the Sitrling one. Plus I thing there have been some meet-ups in Livingston. Not that bad!

We'll try for one in the New Year.
