I am looking forward to this so much! I'm absolutely exhausted, and we've only been back at school a week

roisin · 02/03/2007 18:42

Does anyone have time to jot down for me some brief directions to the Spa from the station?

I have walked there and back three times with Wedgiesmum before, but I have an appalling sense of direction and never pay any attention when I'm with someone!

I can vaguely remember crossing over a couple of pedestrian crossings in front of the station, then walking up a narrow footpath, then onto a big wide walkway quite steep uphill - possibly with a water-feature or something on the right ... then my mind goes completely blank

Can someone help me out, or should I just get a taxi!

worzella · 02/03/2007 19:20

Leave the station by the main exit and cross the main road using the crossing opposite The Howard pub (big white one on the corner). Walk up Howard Street and cross the next main road using the crossing between the Hallam University and the V&A. Walk up the ramp to the right of the V&A and pass the Library on your right and the Winter Garden on your left (this is Surrey Street). Pass the Town Hall on your left, and continue over Pinstone Street towards Barkers Pool and the City Hall (pass GAP on the corner). Division Street continues ahead, with ASK bar on the corner. Walk to the end of Division Street, and you'll see a large development at the end. Bear right at this junction and walk up towards the traffic lights at the junction with West Street, you should see a small Boots Branch and Sinclairs ahead of you. Turn left here and the Glossop Road Baths/Spa is on the left. Look out for the Swim Inn Weatherspoons bar which is at the Spa.

worzella · 02/03/2007 19:23

Hope that makes sense - they are DHs insructions BTW! See you tomorrow - looking forward to it.

WinnieThePooh · 02/03/2007 19:57

I usually catch the tram up to west street and wakk up from there.

What time does you train get in?

Hulababy · 02/03/2007 20:01

Catch the tram - it is easier!

WinnieThePooh · 02/03/2007 20:43

Roisin,

I have sent you a CAT with my mobile number.

If you are getting into the station at a similar time, maybe we could go up together.

worzella · 02/03/2007 20:52

BTW - you get the tram by following the signs from within the station... then getting the 'blue' tram towards Malin Bridge...

roisin · 02/03/2007 21:35

thanks all - I'm sure I'll find it OK!

I have got Wedgiesmum's mobile number, so I'll phone her if we get really lost

I daredn't get a tram: the boys can just about cope with the idea of me being away for the weekend, but if I went on a tram they'd never forgive me

roisin · 02/03/2007 21:40

OK I need lots of positive vibes: pray or cross fingers or whatever you like.

I've just checked the train details for my journey home on Sunday (having had two nightmare journeys after Spa trips). Surprise, surprise they are doing engineering works and the journey is due to take about twice as long as it 'normally' does, and involve 4 changes instead of one I know you're worth it!

But the son of a good friend of mine is playing in a squash tournament in Sheffield on Saturday c.1pm, and if he wins on Saturday they'll be staying over to play again on Sunday ... in which case I can get a lift home with them!

theheadgirl · 02/03/2007 21:43

Roisin - pmsl at tram and your boys! But "go for it" Rosin's Friends Son - I hope you get that lift home, and escape nightmare train scenario

WedgiesMum · 02/03/2007 22:10

Oh Roisin NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Nightmare ! Is there anywhere I can take you to on sunday that would make it easier??

I should be getting in to sheff just before 2pm if that helps about getting there (snigger snigger snigger) so just call me!!

I'm so excited about tomorrow - child free time Wahey!

roisin · 03/03/2007 07:45

Hi WM! No, as far as I know you can't help on Sunday: it's the line across from Sheffield to M'cr which is closed. I will just enjoy the quiet reading time: at least I haven't got the boys with me!

But I will text you about today: we should be getting into Sheffield at 2 as well, so could meet you at the station.

See ya,
Rx

What a lovely relaxing time at the Spa today! Thanks for organising everything Hula. It was lovely to meet everyone again (and to meet some people for the first time!). Hope you all enjoyed the meal after.

Yorkiegirl - you won't believe this, but the tram conductor never came near me on the tram back, so another free journey!!!

worzella · 03/03/2007 23:38

Yes - it was lovely - thanks for organising it Hula - hope the meal was good .

theheadgirl · 04/03/2007 10:28

Thanks for organising this Hula - I had a lovely time, everyone was very welcoming to a first timer

katzg · 04/03/2007 12:23

had a great afternoon and evening. lovely to see everyone.

We must do it again soon.

PandaG · 04/03/2007 13:37

Thanks everyone for a lovely afternoon and evening
Was great to meet some of you for the first time, and to see some of you again.

Thank you so much Hula for organising the day - are we doing it again in September?

anastasia24 · 04/03/2007 16:39

Hi everyone, just wanted to say thanks for making me feel so welcome, being a first timer to the spa. I also enjoyed the meal, thanks to hula for organising it all.

Bye for now.

Hulababy · 04/03/2007 17:20

Hi all; had a fab time yesterday. Was lovely to catch up and also meet some new comers too, and the spa was so relaxing. Noodle bar was yummy as ever, and I do think it is great value!

So, the next one is to be arranged for when??? Summer maybe....

Oh and if still interested I could try and find out more about the Saturday evening, exclusive use thing - actually works out as slightly cheaper I think if enough of us, although not sure if whole range of extra treatments would be available.

roisin · 04/03/2007 17:39

Thanks for organising Hula - I had a great time, and L enjoyed it too! Sorry I didn't get chance to talk to everyone.

Thanks too to WM for putting me up as always.

I have finally got back home safely too, though it was a long journey. The train-replacement bus driver got lost and we ended up in Castleton and went up that pass ... which can be a bit hairy in a car: in a bus it's terrifying

Gingerbear · 04/03/2007 17:57

Thank you again Hula for excellent organisation and booking the noodle bar - wasn't it busy?
Good to see old and new faces again.

I never got to say goodbye to Katz friend the doc - good luck for the next few weeks!

Must say, I didn't miss the steam or sauna, as the pregnancy massage was blissful.

Oh, and Clary - hands off my coat woman!

WedgiesMum · 04/03/2007 18:34

Thanks Hula. It was a brill time. I promise I will email you soon about Easter!

Glad you are home safely Roisin, have been worried about that journey for you! See you soon.

Lovely to see you all, and to meet some new people. AND best of all Yorkie didn't get me with any ice from the ice cave - bonus!

Summer sounds good for the next one, but not the first two weeks of the summer holidays as me and Clary are going to scare Pembrokeshire!!! !
