Anyone going on Maternity leave around Nov time and fancy getting together for films, cake, or just chat? I'm based centralish London, but am flexible really. Am due late Dec and looking forward to a few weeks of chilling out before it all goes crazy....!

Hi Kiwicath
Sure would be up for meeting - as you say it's always good to get to know new people locally. Where abouts are you based? I'm SE1, near Tate Modern. And this bump is my second, my daughter is 3 now, at nursery PT. I'm working PT till Mat leave in Nov.
Am not up for anything v energetic as I'm already pretty huge , but am around Thursdays and Fridays. Anyone else local up for a meet?

Kaybee7777 · 29/09/2006 11:06

Hi all,
i a expecting my 1st in Nov, and am just hanging around home being bored most of the time, so would be keen to meet up with I live in East London.

kiwicath - are you a kiwi? I only ask because i am, from wellington originally.

KiwiKat · 29/09/2006 16:37

Hi all, my baby is now 3 months old, but I'd like to join you for cake etc. I'm a kiwi too, and live in E2.

webchick · 29/09/2006 19:24

I would like to meet up in c London - I am due Boxing Day and shant be on mat leave until end of Nov but have Fridays off so if you are all ok to meet on a Friday, count me in....

lubella · 30/09/2006 23:16

Well if we meet in London Bridge would that be a central point for everyone? there are some lovely places in Spitalfields to have coffee and a bite (or something more substantial!)

tweedledum · 02/10/2006 11:12

Hi - great to see so many are up for a meet . London Bridge sounds good for most. How about a Friday morning - that seems to suit most people for now. There are a couple of nice places for coffee + cake - anyone know a cafe called Amano which is just down from Borough Market, towards the river? Any other suggestions? S'pse there is also Cafe Rouge in Hay's Galleria, though not sure they do cakes (essential, at least as far as my Dd is concerned!). I could make Friday 13th Oct in the morning. Is anyone else up for that? Otherwise, 20th would be ok too.

OP posts:
lubella · 02/10/2006 12:29

Cool - I would be up for the 20th in the morning however if you can do Wednesdays I have more flexability have all day off in Oct and my full leave starts from Nov

Kaybee7777 · 02/10/2006 12:48

Hi
i could make the 20th too. Wed's are ok with me too, though usually my midwife appt's are on wed mornings for some reason!
:-)

lubella · 02/10/2006 14:30

and mine on Wed afternoons! For me the 18th in the morning is cool and the 20th I will take a break from work to meet with you..

tweedledum · 02/10/2006 16:23

Friday 20th morning is good for me, but I can't do Weds as I work that day. Would be good if we can go for friday this time around, and then have another look at what times are best for people....and any suggestions as to venue?
Really looking forward to meeting everyone . Kaybee - we can compare bumps. Mine is huge! Am due 21st Dec but as people keep helpfully pointing out I look as though I am due now. I think I'll deck the next person to say that

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 02/10/2006 18:09

Yeah it will be really cool to meet up
I don't think my bump is that big really Tweedledum (though it feels big enough and I never have anything to wear!!!)
No suggestions as to where as I don't know London Bridge that well....

01kiwicath · 02/10/2006 21:01

Hi All....

Been away in chocolate land - cool to see we have some plans happening.
I can do fridays and am free on the 20th, london bridge does suit me to meet and since I've only been here 2 mths now, I'm not the best person to suggest a meeting spot......although I can agree that coffee and cake will work nicely, especially for a friday!

Yes to being a kiwi, really a give away isn't it!!
I'm from chch but lived in wgn for 6yrs, great place!

Hope you all have a good week and looking forward to putting faces to names...and learning new names

lubella · 09/10/2006 10:17

are we doing this? shall we say 1pm by the london dungeon..it is a good central spot then we can find somewhere nice for coffee.....

tweedledum · 09/10/2006 12:46

Yes I am up definitely for this, though I can only do earlier, just to complicate things... I will have my 3 year old Dd with me and she will be tired and in need of a kip by then. Sorry Lubella! Hope that's ok with you. Was going to suggest around 10.30 so we beat the lunch rush. Is that any good for people?
London Dungeon sounds like a good place to meet - how about accross the road (opposite it) so we don't get lost in the queues? Am really looking forward to meeting everyone!

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 09/10/2006 13:11

I am still keen to meet up too, providing I am still able to walk by then ( Am having trouble hobbling around at the moment with sore back, hips and pelvic area!!!)
I can do anytime after about 10.30/10.45am (need to wait until off peak travel)

01kiwicath · 09/10/2006 18:01

yes i am keen too....that sounds fine with me...the earlier time and def opposite that massive queue!

hope it suits evryone who is keen, will be nice to meet with some new mums and bubbas too....
mine is almost 1, how fast di dthat go!!!! oh y goodness, i'm sure those of you with lo kno what i mean, crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so how many lo's will there be??? just trying think of a large place for some smaller people to be happily amused...i have 1!

KiwiKat · 09/10/2006 22:28

I'll have Max with me, who will be 17 weeks old then.

tweedledum · 10/10/2006 09:36

How about we just go to Hayes Galleria which has a cafe rouge and a starbucks in it with space for buggies/little ones to run around? We could meet at 11am opp the London Dungeon and then go accross to the Galleria, and hopefully people who are later than that can find us easily in one of those cafes ......?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 10/10/2006 10:26

Is it quite easy to find, I am not overly familiar with the area and have a tendancy to get lost
I assume the nearest tube in London Bridge?

tweedledum · 10/10/2006 11:55

London Dungeon is just outside London Bridge tube (& we will be meeting directly on the opposite side of the road - cos the queues for it are about a mile long + lots of people, so easy to miss each other). If you miss us there, Hayes Galleria is just 2 mins down from there, again on opp side of road to the Dungeon. It's a small covered shopping area that backs onto the river - but if you ask anyone they will point it out. Do'nt worry, we'll look out for you (er not that we know what you look like, but being pregnant is a good start!)

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 10/10/2006 18:29

Yeah it's all a bit tricky isn't it. I guess we'll just have to look for a group of pregnant women/women with kids!
So we're meeting around 10.30 or 11 ?
