Enough said really. Anyone up for a chat over some good grub & fine wine?

Ooh iota - how spooky is this? Posted that last post, went off to take DD to ballet, and in the same hall where she does it there was also a Thames Water exhibition about the proposed reservoir .

iota · 22/09/2006 17:53

oooh really spooky.

I was driving past Drayton (on A34) on Sunday, and was talking about the reservoir with dh.

I remember when they were talking about it about 12 yrs ago.

JackieNo · 22/09/2006 17:53

It's huge - 4.5 times the size of Farmoor apparently.

iota · 22/09/2006 17:56

where will the water come from? there's no river near is there? (dh is Welsh - he's more used to drowing valleys for reservoirs)

iota · 22/09/2006 18:01

good grief

JackieNo · 22/09/2006 18:02

I think it's planned to be partly excess water that we get over the winter that can't currently be stored, and some that is, erm, from somewhere else (sorry - mind's gone blank). I think it did say.... How useless am I. Of course they were also paying lip service to stopping the leaks in the current system, but that seemed to be less of a priority. And charging more for water in times of high demand, which sounded a bit scary.

RanToTheHills · 01/10/2006 10:04

hi all! So is Oxford itself a good bet then? Sounds a bit tricky via train?

OP posts:
Blondilocks · 01/10/2006 19:20

The old prison development is only a short walk from the train station.

Blondilocks · 01/10/2006 19:22

prison? or is it castle?

The newest one is the old castle isn't it & then the prison is the one on the corner opposite the job centre / car park at the top of Park End Street? Or am I totally confused?

lexiemum · 01/10/2006 22:43

the last train back our way RTTH is early and before 11. am assuming you'd be using the same trainstation. but its a pretty good route - a colleague of mine does the train route everyday and never seems to have a problem (inc a late train after 10pm)

Rocklover · 02/10/2006 20:18

Can I join in? I live in Banbury, don't drive, but can do public transport, or get a lift from my ever generous family. Dying to go out as have just split from annoying husband!

RanToTheHills · 04/10/2006 11:29

of course, welcome! What/where shall we go for then?

OP posts:
lexiemum · 04/10/2006 20:43

there's a new pizza express in the castle area in oxford - supposed to be good.

as long as its not browns

am happy to "taxi" those in banbury / bicester- may only be return if a weekday as I'll be coming from work.

harpsichordcarrion · 04/10/2006 20:48

Jackie, I could drive you maybe?

lexiemum · 06/10/2006 21:19

bump

RanToTheHills · 07/10/2006 10:41

still here. So castle-area in Oxford one Nov eve then? What doyou reckon?

OP posts:
lexiemum · 07/10/2006 22:13

definately a nov evening - I've exhausted dh's babysitting evenings for october already.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 07/10/2006 22:20

Harpsichordcarrion - that's a very kind offer - thank you.

Am off to the Oxford Castle tomorrow for my birthday lunch - at Tootsies (as it's nice and child-friendly). There's also a Carluccios, and a nice looking tapas bar, and a couple of others. Loads of choice.

Pruhoohooohoooooni · 07/10/2006 22:26

Sigh
I've not long moved away
But would have loved to join you
That Carluccio's is vv nice
There is a Lebanese in Jericho called Al Shami - not far from the station really - which does good spreads for groups of people, have had many a convivial evening there.
Oh am really jealous!! Have fun. xxP

acnebrideofFrankenstein · 07/10/2006 22:34

Can I join in? Will try not to be annoying. Carluccios or the tapas place, for preference.

OldieMum · 07/10/2006 22:36

Just seen this. I live in Oxford and would love to join you. I really like Carluccio's. Al Shami has great food and a nice atmosphere, too, however.

lexiemum · 08/10/2006 13:37

carluccios sounds good.

been to tootsies in reading - best bit was the sweety jars
