Hi to south sheffield mums, I am new to mumsnet but noticed you are trying to arrange a get together in the botanical gardens. I would love to be in on this as I get very bored and lonely at home. I gave up work in may 2003 due to a very rough pregnancy and was advised to take maternity leave as soon as I could. baby born 1 month prem in July not due till end August. As much as I love the little devil I find it terribly difficult as I have not gone back to work and I miss it all terribly, I miss the independence and the adult company and the socialising. So I would love to meet other mums who are at home with babies. I am unsure as to what dates you are talking about but would love to know so I could come along if allowed.

Where in Sheffield are you based Maisystar, just read through all the related messages to meet up and discovered that you like me are not from Sheffiedl. i have been here 3 years but due to work and kids not really had time to make may new friends except the work colleagues I had ( now finished work). Allthough I do keep in touch with one who has a 12week baby girl. I am a young mum (29) and therefore even though I get on with neighbours I don't have a lot in common with them as they are all older. Please help me with lingo of mumsnet, what does DH, DP, DD stand for.I live in the Greenhill/Meadowhead area therefore Graves park is excellent, however botanical gardens is a good excuse to go into town and indulge in some shopping.

Thanks for the help on the abbreviations, i now don't feel so dumb. hOw old is DS, I have 2 DS one is 10 other is 9 months. Monday sounds fine to me for a meet up, however as a SAHM any day is pretty much fine by me. I do sometimes attend a baby group on Wednesday AM, but as Ds normally has morning kip then I only go every now and again so I do not lose his place as there is a long waiting list. Will keep checking for final arrangements

Message for pennypocket

Hi pennypocket thanks for your reply, I am from the opposite direction to you, DH,DS and I moved here from Newcastle (miss it teribly)about 2 1/2 years ago. I am originally from a small scottish town called Coldstream, may not have heard of it but it is home of the Coldstream Guards ( the ones who wear the big furry hats) it is about 15 miles north of Berwick upon Tweed and 60 miles south of Edinburgh, so I am only just scottish. (thankfully, however I am not very patriotic and tend to feel more English) as I went to uni there and lived in England for years. My DH is a thoroughbred Geordie. Looking forward to a meet up, how about a day without the DDs and DS's and indulging ourselves in a spa for a day. I know the Sheffield park hotel aallows day access to their leisure facilities for either £10 or £15, maybe an option for a rainy day to treat ourselves.

Great - we're still on for ski-village.

Quote from our conversation in our car as we passed it last week,'oooh it looks good, oooh I can't wait' - that was DP talking!

I'm like PP because I'm going to be busy now until the week after 8th May. After that, we're free!

That's a good suggestion summermum.

PP can you still get messages through 'contact another talker'? Will there be a sold notice outside your new home - helping me to find you? I've not been far these last two days as I've had a sore neck and have struggled with driving.

Oooh - lots of interest!! Great!

Summermum - what made you move to Sheffield from Newcastle? Where did you used to work? I love the spa idea - quite fancy being pampered!! Unfortunately DP works a lot at weekends but if I can arrange something I will definitely be up for that!!

Dottee - will try to get in touch through contact another talker. quite a few houses on this road have been sold in the past few months and there are still a few old sold signs lurking! I think you will get my message tomorrow so look out for it!!

Moved to Sheffield due to DH job, he is an ACCA accountant nad got an excellent promotion within his company which involved moving to Sheffield. I used to work for a company called Harold Moore Injection Mouldings, it moulds plastic shovels and scoops and a few other things( I know it sounds dull at least I was in the administration department. It is based in the city centre on Bailey Street behind West Street. I was OK but before that I was an office Manager in Newcastle so it was not as exciting but the hours fitted perfect around my older DS school hours. I would drop him at school and get into work to start at 9.30am and finsish at 2.30pm to be home for him at 3.15pm Bliss.

What area do you and dottee live in?

Hi summermum

Dottee and I live in Rotherham. I moved up here to buy a house in Sheffield but ended up buying in Rotherham!! I am training to be a mortgage advisor and DP is a chef. I am 26 and DS is 2.5. How old are you? Where in Sheffield are you?

I am 29 ( almost 30 YUckk) but still feel 21. My two DS are 10 and 9 months. I live in the Greenhill area of Sheffield which is not far from Meadowhead roundabout and near to what was the old sheffield Moat house. Lucky DP, I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen mainly with good tresults but I have had a few awful concoctions over the years, i particularly love coooking and eating puddings, anything gooey, creamy or chocolatey or even better all 3, ultimate is sticky chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and clotted cream yum. I don't know Rotherham very well but my older DS plays inline HOckey (like ice hockey) at Ice and Easy on the Eastwood trading Estate near the Asda superstore.

For meet ups if it is a weekend I can't do weekend 15/16th May as I have promised older DS we will do something special as a family as it is the weekend after he has done his Y6 SAT exams, so DH and I thought we would let him chill and do something he wants.
