Stranded in Sutton Coldfield

hattiesmum · 20/08/2006 20:42

Hello mums. Have just moved back to the Sutton Coldfield area with my p,ds aged 8 months and dd aged 2. Have sadly lost contact with my old, child free friends and have no one to talk to! My dd goes to nursery two mornings but no room there for ds. I'd love to hear from any other mums in the area who'd be interested in meeting up. I'm 41 but kid myself I could pass for 35! Think the gray hair and saggy stomach gives me away though!

I'm in Sutton too, on the Boldmere side. I'm a little older than you (and wouldn't pass for 35!) with a 5-year-old dd.

hattiesmum · 21/08/2006 09:54

Would be more than happy to meet up with all of you! WigWamBam, you're probably less than 1/2 mile from me, I'm on Jockey Road by the big Tesco. Is anybody free on Thursday 24/8/06? Maybe we could meet up in Sutton. I've sent you a seperate email MadameButterfly but if you're free Thursday we could meet then. I've dyed the gray hair by the way!!!

Am away next week so will be up to my eyeballs in packing on Thursday, but once we're back I could meet up with you in Sutton sometime. I'm the other end of Boldmere to you, close to Wylde Green railway station ... small world

sallycinnamon · 21/08/2006 20:10

Hi! I live near Tescos too. I'm going on holiday tomorrow night for 2 weeks so can't do 24th

hattiesmum · 21/08/2006 22:05

Ok ladies, lets get the holidays out of the way and arrange something for when we're all home. We get back from our holiday on 11.9.06 so maybe I could meet some of you after then. My email address is [email protected]. I'm grateful to you all for replying and look forward to meeting you in person! Happy hols everybody!

I have nothing in tomorrow if you fancy meeting up in Sutton for a cuppa for something..

hattiesmum · 23/08/2006 21:03

I'd love to but I started potty training my DD today. We're going cold turkey and she's just wearing pants. I think it's probably not a good idea to take her out tomorrow seeing as how we've got through 7 pairs of pants today and the potty has seen no action at all! Would you mind if we take a raincheck?

OP posts:
MadameButterfly · 24/08/2006 06:44

No problem.

I will wait to hear from you after your holiday then.

Good luck with the potty training.

Ronniebaby · 07/09/2006 20:35

Are you back from your hols and are you still stranded in Sutton???

MadameButterfly · 07/09/2006 22:02

RB - She is not back until monday 11.09.06

hattiesmum · 13/09/2006 20:18

Hello, we're back. When I say NEVER AGAIN, trust me I mean NEVER AGAIN! Have returned from holiday more stressed, tired and pale than when we went! Oh well, it's over and done with now. Yes, I still feel a bit stranded. I took the kids to a playgroup today, the first one since we moved back to Sutton but it was a bit cliquey to be honest. I spoke to a couple of the mums but everybody knew everybody else and were all "best friends" so I felt a bit left out. Poor DD didn't enjoy it much either, none of the children seemed to want her to join in. Is that normal for toddlers? I think it is, but it's a bit upsetting to watch. I feel so rotten that we dragged her away from all her friends in Wales, she seems so lonely. She's having way more tantrums than she used to but I don't know whether that's because she's unhappy or just 2!! I would dearly like to make some friends here, anyone take pity on us???

OP posts:
Ronniebaby · 14/09/2006 20:35

Well we have offered,

Toddlers are like that, DS2 hates sharing, purely because DS1 takes everything off him

hattiesmum · 15/09/2006 11:49

Yes, DD takes away every toy DS picks up! I keep telling her that one day he'll be bigger than her and get his own back but she won't have it! Would you like to meet next week Ronniebaby? I'm waiting for MadameButterfly to get back to me as well.

Ronniebaby · 15/09/2006 22:57

When you free, I might be able to meet on Wednesday??

hattiesmum · 16/09/2006 12:12

Wednesday afternoon is good for me. We have playgroup until 11.30, then lunch and (please God!) a nap, so maybe 2.30ish? Or let me know what suits you best, am sure I can work around it .

OP posts:
Ronniebaby · 17/09/2006 19:15

At the moment I have no work, so I could make 2.30 ish. And thankfully DS1 has swimming on that night, but Childminder takes him.

Where would like to meet??

MadameButterfly · 17/09/2006 20:17

I could possibly make wednesday, depending on appointments.

hattiesmum · 17/09/2006 20:56

Could you both manage Sutton, outside Starbucks? (Is it Starbucks? The one next door to Evans??)
