our house is far too small! And anyway aren't they all skinny blonds, I see them at the one o clock club and mentally note that I could fit each one into one leg of my jeans. No way am I having one of them in my house on a regular basis!
now if I could find a hairy big arsed nanny with a moustache that would live in the garage......... or a strapping young man who has a six pack and perfect pecs ( I don't even know what a pec is but it sounds nice)...[grin}

Morning everyone

Xoxoxo

I work full time and have a childminder. The trick is to find one who "services" the school your children are at (or will be at in the case of yours). My childminder's two sons go to DS's school so she can drop him and pick him up, give him some tea etc. It works perfectly and is stress free. DD is starting nursery there soon, but she has been full time at the child minder's for two years, since she was one. Its home from home and I truly love my child minder, she is gold dust. I found her at the school gates - its worth asking around at the school your oldest will be going to, as there is a network of child minders for each school. That way, you get to hear when they have vacancies coming up and can let people know you're looking. The other advanage is everyone knows them, so you know if they're OK.

I work full-time 8am-4pm, so get home early enough to spend several hours with the monsters each evening and have now got compressed hours, so I can get Fridays off. Legislation from 2003 means you can ask for flexible hours and every employers have to agree unless they can prove a business case for not agreeing it. Last time I read about it, over 80% requests had been agreed nationally (some survey which had been done by a newspaper).

I think the public sector are more likely to agree flexible hours/pt et, than the private, but they pay less (although terms and conditions are often better and they have very generous maternity packages).

Can't help with finding a cushy job on the doorstep though! Afer working the other side of London for years, driving around the congestion zone each morning, pregnant and with a small son, two years ago I found a job 15 minutes drive from home, which paid £10K more than my previous job!
Still can't beleive my luck on that front.

Wish we could have a nanny, bt they're a bit outside our budget!

Oh oh, you do portrait photography. Have you got a website? My lovely kiddies need a portrait. And if you are more reasonably priced tham some of the big chains, I'd be interested.

Oh yes, I don't have the patience for landscape photogrpahy. Getting up before dawn to position myself on a remote hillside for several hours waiting for just the right shaft of light to be in just the right spot... [shudders]. I have HUGE respect for those who can do it, though.

Tutter · 18/08/2006 10:55

fatfox · 18/08/2006 12:00

Welcome SFX Mum and thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat

Do you like Dr Who sfx?

thewoman - were did you get your name from? Is there something we can shorten it to?

Mrs BigD, I may well take you up on that offer!!! I as thinking of a pic of the three iddies, when baby is born in March. You now the type, older siblings lovingly holding new baby, feeling no jealousy or insecurtiy whatsoever.

Do you do colour and B&W? Quite fancy B&W

sfxmum · 18/08/2006 12:04

can se am not the only fan here

not british, portuguese so dr who does not have same shine, but they have been choosing the loveliest men recently

and firefly of course dear how could i not/

must look at kew gardens meet up dh and dd are regulars at climbers and creepers

MrsBigD · 18/08/2006 13:25

sfx didn't grow up with Dr. Who either as I grew up in Germany. Have to agree with them choosing lovely men for the new series though.

fatfox - I know the type of picture it's called the 'fictional' pose LOL. Saying that dd was very caring and lovingly holding ds when he was born. Boy have things changed now LOL
I can do colour, b&w, sepia or anything really. The first 3 the camera can actually do, the rest well there's always photoshop

MrsBigD · 18/08/2006 13:34

fatfox... a pic I took

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 18/08/2006 13:50

shorten it to hat. I;ve had a range of hat-related names and decided at some stage taht I wanted to be just plain old hat. But it was taken. harpsichordcarrier came up with themanwhothoughthiswifewasahat - a book about strange medical/psycological conditions, so I adapted it.

MrsBigD · 18/08/2006 14:33

Fed up with bl**dy copying machine that keeps jamming so thought I have a tinker on the stats... there's defo a Kew concentration!!!
