Anybody wants to join us on or around 11 May 2006 at the Blue Hawaii in Kingston upon Thames for a child free evening? Grin

Can I join in too? Saw this a while ago, but thought nothing more of it (feel bad about guilt-tripping dh into looking after ds) - but after today I need to go out and have some fun!
How will I recognise you all?

MrsBigD · 09/05/2006 22:32

yomella of course you can join us :)
It's easy... the table is booked under 'mumsnet' Grin
but if I get time I'll make up a little sign GrinGrin
See you on Thursday.
Oh does anybody know whether the 65 stops close to the Blue Hawaii... might not drive after all... they do cocktails LOL

I'm not sure exactly where it stops. But as it ends in Kingston it must go right in the centre (probably the bus station), which isn't too far from the centre of kingston. I'm going to drive home and then take the train into Kingston.

Click on map on left hand menu.

Welcome Helly! See you there! Grin

Hi guys only just seen this but this is very close to me. I am actually out this Thursday night already (my only night out in two months - always the way) but if there is another meet in the area again soon I would love to come.

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 10:43

Hi Lazycow, I'm sure we'll have another meet somewhere sometime :)

As for me getting to the Blue Hawaii not bringing the car so I can have some cocktails...found it :)

So I'll be on the 65 Bus and according to the journey planner it's going to take me 1.5h door to door. Wondering whether that's taking rush hour into consideration Grin. Better charge my ipod and set the alarm on my mobile in case I fall asleep on the bus! Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/05/2006 11:03

Eh? 1.5 hours? How can that be? You could always come by my office in Brentford, and get in my car for 30 min drive to Sunbury. Then we have to drop off the car and take a 5-10 min walk to the train and 7 minute train ride to Kingstion. Okay, it's not a lot shorter. But hey there will be two of us. So still might be more exciting than sitting on the bus.

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 11:13

30 mins to EB and then approx 1h in the Bus.
Thanks for the offer Uwila but to get to brentford with the busses it would take about 1h anyhow LOL
Thtat way at least I get some quality me snooze time Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/05/2006 13:21

How long would it take you to get to Richmond?

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 13:31

same bus LOL so probably 30 minutes from Ealing Broadway

OP posts:
YanksUponThames · 10/05/2006 20:48

Here in Richmond we're halfway down the 65 route -- about 30min from EB and 30min form Kingston (off peak, generally). I think it's at least possible that the 1.5 hr figure does include some allowance for rush hour traffic. The Kew bridge is a @#$%! bottleneck, not to mention Richmond itself. Then it's a bit of a crawl through Ham & Petersham on the way to Kingston. Taking the train to Kingston from here is a bit quicker, but also rather more expensive. Bit of a toss-up. On the bus at least you can keep yer butt parked for a while.

Uwila · 10/05/2006 21:39

Are you bring my sippy cups, Yanks? Have I mentioned that I love you?

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 22:52

Uwila you'll be needing a backpack... sippy cups, books... what else? LOL

Yanks will also bring your books of course Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 11/05/2006 07:59

Oh, forgot about the books -- isn't it just one book?

MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 10:07

yes one chunky 123 puzzle book if I remember correctly :) It's sitting behind the bed in a nice Usborne Bag Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 11/05/2006 10:09

Right, is the bag big enough for my sippy cups too?

I feel like I'm going shopping... oh, speaking of which, maybe I'll leve this crappy job early and do some pre-dinner shopping.

MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 10:12

hmmmmm shopping :) I'm leaving work early today too... to go to the dentist [argh] then dash back home and expectantly waiting for dh to walk through the door so I can hightale it out of there to meet ya all in Kingston :)

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 10:12

as for bag big enough... might fit with a squeeze

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 14:21

Getting out of here now to go to the dentist... will need medicinal alcohol tonight GrinWink

Nanou just cancelled on the other thread as she has an interview! Good luck to her!

Hope somebody will show up tonight so I don't have to emtpy the cocktail bar all on my own Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 11/05/2006 15:01

I'll be there. Promise! Will be shopping first. I've decided on a new pair of running shoes. After all the American mother's day is on Sunday, so Happy Mother's Day to me!! Grin

YanksUponThames · 11/05/2006 16:37

Yes, ma'am, I've got 4 Playtex sippy cups. I think a tote bag of some sort would be in order. And I will put my books in their place.

Shopping. Heh. I'm already pining again for stores that stay open to 9pm and beyond (and supermarkets open til midnight or 24h). What a difference it can sometimes make with everyday stress!

You won't be alone at the cocktail bar, MrsBigD, rest assured. Grin

Hope you are having a nice time! Just found this thread (bit late!), and Blue Hawaii is very near me. If DH wasn't out this evening I'd be tempted to gatecrash - maybe another time...

MrsBigD · 12/05/2006 07:16

Thanks MadamP we had a lovely time :)
Gatecrashers always welcome
