Well someone had to start the new thread.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 05/10/2012 11:34

You say:

I am going out to meet people I have been friends with on the interweb for YEARS.

the end.

ExitPursuedByJKR · 05/10/2012 11:35

Oooh Absy there you are. I am meant to be following your or something.

I will tentatively put my paw in the ring for this meet up.

But I can't do squishy sofas - you would need a crane to haul me up at the end of the evening or when it was my turn at the bar......

Suchabadperson · 05/10/2012 11:38

I am going to plant the suggestion that it is a seminar and not a piss-up social occasion.

Mintyy · 05/10/2012 11:38

Oh bless you and your country ways Getorf Grin.

My friend's mum is from Swansea and fancies herself a bit glamorous. Infact she blooming well is glamorous for an 80+ year old. So, anyways, she doesn't stint on buying the old beauty care products, no Nivea for her, oh no. But she does insist on pronouncing her favourite French range as Clarrrran.

DameAbsy · 05/10/2012 11:43

Oh crap - you're supposed to be my minion. Erm, now this is awkward. I haven't actually been around much, so, you know.

I live in Big London and haven't gone galivanting for YARS (man, I'm a loser).

I'll say I'm meeting friends, and then be veh vague. He'll probably not even notice, and be happy to have some peace for once. I've been happily adding DVDs to the lovefilm list going "I'm going to watch these when you're at [friend's] stag weekend! It will be awesome" "um, honey. That weekend's not until sometime next year" "I know! "

BigStickBIWI · 05/10/2012 11:49

Me: I'm going out next [insert day]
DH: Who with?
Me: Some of my Mumsnet friends
DH: Again?

Easy.

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 11:49

It never occurred to me to think that having internet friends was odd

is it me?

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 11:51

My dh said, Oh that will be nice, you haven't met Paggy before have you? Oo says ds, say hi to Pagwatch and are the IPOAT going?

DD: Are the knitting ones going? Who else?

BigStickBIWI · 05/10/2012 11:54

Me neither, Hully. I'm on here so much of the time, DH knows I live in my laptop!

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 11:58

Yy
I say

I am going to the mumsnet meet up
Dh : ok. Who are you going to meet
Me: Hully, getorfmoiland, fellatio, DollyTwat ,
Dh Confused ok.....

I think he expects 'Sarah, Alison, penny.
He still can't cope with the nicknames thing.

DameAbsy · 05/10/2012 11:58

No offense Hullz, but I don't really use you for a reference point as to what is and isn't odd.

Maybe on this thread I am odd

Let me know the date, and then I'll WRITE IT IN PEN in my diary (so it's set then) and I'll head out with you gals/CJs/Dames

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 11:59

At some stage he also expresses his sympathy or the bar staff.

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 12:00

Hooray!

I want to meet you Absy.
I will try not to lean on the bar for hours this time and be a bit braver.

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 12:00

DECEMBER 1st

isn't it Frank and committee?

DameAbsy · 05/10/2012 12:05

It's in. In pen

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 12:09

Her real name is Bertha-Mae.

It's easiest to call people Um

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 12:12

Are you really in Abs?

I'll write in CAPITALS on me calendar

MissVerinder · 05/10/2012 12:12

Well, I just put my proper NN back on, I don't know why I change it.

I still kill threads stone dead!

We should all get T-shirts printed with our NN on, like a hen night! We could wear them with irony.

(I just really want a Mumsnet T-shirt)

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 12:26

I can't do real names. I can't.
I call Hully Hully or Hulls. I have refused to remember real names. It's awful but my brain is shit.
There was a lovely woman at the meet up who I kept smiling at because she was lovely. I shared a bit of a sofa with her. No fucking clue what her name is.
It's shameful.

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 12:27

The badges this year were excellent. Really big. I only had to peer a bit. But then

Btw my iPad autocorrect pfffft to off fatty. Wtf?

ExitPursuedByJKR · 05/10/2012 12:35

Can I take several badges so that I can name change at random points throughout the evening?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 05/10/2012 12:35

MissVerinder, we do actually have badges with our MN names on.

Wouldn't mind a MN t-shirt though.

The only reason I know real names is because of the FB page. But mostly I remember people by their MN name.

ExitPursuedByJKR · 05/10/2012 12:36

Actually, I am old, I can please myself what I do.

Oh yes.

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 12:38

I didn't go on the fb page.

I would have liked to see if after the evening. Was there gossip and compromising photos?

MissVerinder · 05/10/2012 13:08

THERE'S A FB PAGE!?!?

No way.

I thought this would be like a Secret Service party Grin
