Well someone had to start the new thread.

OP posts:
JugglingWithPossibilities · 04/10/2012 22:35

Oh, I'm sorry you can't come and have fun with us MIW (that's if I do go) - I was just getting to know you (in RL Smile)

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 04/10/2012 23:01

Ha FrankWippery I love a drink, I only talk bollocks and I am Very Loud.

So what's the plan then? Do we stay overnight somewhere?

Where are we meeting?

I have read the thread btw but I can't make head nor tail. Blush

I shall enjoy telling Himself that I am meeting strangers off the Internet.

JugglingWithPossibilities · 04/10/2012 23:10

Great NN BYW HotCoffeeIsAMemory Smile

JugglingWithPossibilities · 04/10/2012 23:11

My DH was suitably un-impressed by the concept too !

DilysPrice · 04/10/2012 23:21

Southwark you say? I can get a black cab home from Southwark without taking out a second mortgage. Hell, at a pinch I could walk home from there, but not in the shoes which I am already planning to wear.

I was cruelly deprived of the last one by Real Life, but 1st December could be doable.

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 04/10/2012 23:37

Oh good god, do we have to wear heels?!

I'll have to practice walking stumbling in some.

I am off to google just where Southwark is!

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 04/10/2012 23:40

Oh. It's by London Bridge. Why didn't I know that. Blush

Suchabadperson · 05/10/2012 09:57

Oh, I am soooooooooooo coming!

I'm with you Hotcoffee

me- I'm going away for the weekend

DP- Where to?

me- I'm meeting random strangers of the internet, we are going to drink gin and have a curry buffet.

DP- Hmm

me- It's ok, they are all off of Mumsnet.

Grin
Novia · 05/10/2012 10:05

Hello! I would be interested in coming... Haven't been to anything like this before though - does everyone already know each other? Also - I am preggers, so no booze which make me a bit boring! Sad

Suchabadperson · 05/10/2012 10:13

Novia, I haven't been to one before, and I don't know anyone in RL. Have been on MN for a couple of years though, so would recognise all the nicknames.

If you can't drink, stick with me and I'll have your gin.

Mintyy · 05/10/2012 10:15

Have we decided on Southwark? That would be handy for me.

Suchabadperson · 05/10/2012 10:22

How do you say Southwark?

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 10:25

Suth-rk

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 10:31

When I started work they used to make me say Southwark because I said south - waaark'
It was wrong and I was a bumpkin.
Those city boys couldn't get enough of it. Fucking weeks before anyone told me

Suchabadperson · 05/10/2012 10:31

Thanks!

Just looking at hotels- my friend is a booking agent so I might ask her to have a look for me.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 05/10/2012 10:34

Frank - you really are MN royalty! HQ know who you are and everything, and not because you did anything wrong either...

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 05/10/2012 10:34

Say Southfork like JR Ewing.

I used to pronounce Arkansas as it is typed, I knew there was a place called Arkansaw because of Bill Clinton but I thought thwy were two different places

My aunt who lives in Essex really took the piss when I pronounced Theydon Bois with a frenchy flourish.

Mintyy · 05/10/2012 10:36

What, like Theydon Bwah?

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 05/10/2012 10:37

I regularly laugh at Putri (an Indonesian via America) over her pronunciation. It has taken me 2 years to get her to say Suffolk correctly, we are still working on Norfolk... Grin

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 05/10/2012 11:08

Yes, Theydon Bwaah.

I had no idea it was Theydon Boys.

Schtuuupid.

marriedinwhite · 05/10/2012 11:13

I once arranged to meet a school friend at a bar in Beecham Place, knightsbridge. She didn't show but phoned me later to say shr spent hopurs looking for Beecham place. The road sign is Beachamp Place - everyone knows it's pronounced Beecham!! Days before mobile phones!!

DameAbsy · 05/10/2012 11:14

So the last meet up was that good you're already planning the next one?

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 11:17

What will your excuse be this time Absy dear?

DameAbsy · 05/10/2012 11:27

I need time to come up with a good excuse.

Anyway, Sat night was a disaster. Had booked tickets to go to fancy pants cinema to watch movie DH desperately wants to see. Head off into cold dark night to fancy pants cinema. Turn up, show them fancy pants online tickets and the woman goes "erm, those tickets are for last week". I had booked the wrong day. No seats left, other movies all rubbish, so we decide, well, we're out of the house, let's at least go get a drink. Go to favourite bar - it's fecking closed. So we went home and watched Back to the Future and ate chocolate in silence.

My main issue (suggestions welcome) is how to explain that i'm going out to meet weirdoes people I met off the internet.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/10/2012 11:31

Just say you are going out galavanting round Big London. Tis what I said.
