Well someone had to start the new thread.

I did like Platform, I took one of their Christmas menus and said to my colleagues LOOK this is a very trendy bar in London where you can get a nice Christmas Lunch for 20 quid and yet we are having to fork out 35 quid for a Christmas lunch in some jumped up, serviette and doily PROVINCIAL twat restaurant in Swindon.

Sooo- how does the name thing work, does everyone answer to MN name only?

Everyone wears badges with their MN names on, and we find out each other's real names, but if you are like me you will forget in 0.67 nanoseconds and just go by MN names generally.

I would love to come, couldn't make the last one as it was my sisters bday.

Mn names mostly. My brain would explode otherwise.

Will look for places that have the following then:

1. Squishy sofas for the lazy arsed sitter downers of us.
2. Late licence
3. Own space
4. Louder music later on for them who wish to dance/make fools of themselves
5. Food? Smaller canapés do you think - 6-8 each, it seems that lots eat beforehand and start drinking, so perhaps just a few nibbles. Or, go the other way and actually have some kind of supper - perhaps a couple of curries/pots of chili sin/con carne? Or what?

Pistey it is actual law that you have to come and test places. Did you not know that?

Food wise, I reckon an early start of the do, with some nibbles (crisps and such) for those who start drinking early and a decent meal later on - don't mind what food.

This way we also spend a bit more time together, and get more food / drinks in!

Agrees with brainsurgeon - a compromise over fewer pre meet-up drinks and an earlier start. It feels like a continuation of Saturday which was over all too soon. That's a compliment to all who organised and all who were present.

I love curry nearly as much as gin...

It is nice to read that people are enthusiastic for another meet up so soon isn't it, married.

It was over too soon, which is quite unusual really as it was a long night, we had our pre meet up at just gone half 5.

Curry is a great idea.

However the only problem with having a sit down dinner like a Rotary Club dinner dance is that you can't mingle around - the great bit about Saturday was having the dinner egg and chips for me classy and then the drinks party bit where everyone just wandered about speaking to people in random fashion.

But you can go and get your curry and then wander about?

GetOrf Southwark is the best borough - I'm sure Mintyy will agree!

Could I put in a plea for the bar to be on the same floor as the talky bit, next time? So tiring, all those stairs, esp. when having to Boris Bike it back to the hotel...
